I really wanted another Dark Alliance game so have to agree with this.......
Rockstar San Diego was having some serius issues a while back, which put Midnight Club in jeopardy..... not sure what the situation is now, but if I don't get a new Midnight Club soon I'll be very mad

Topic Title^
For me it's Looking Glass Studios. Their games were not only some of the best for their time but for all time.
Games made by LGS:
-Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss
-Ultima Underworld: Labyrinth of Worlds
-System Shock
-System Shock 2
-Thief: The Dark Protect
-Thief 2: The Metal Age
They've developed a couple more but these games were the ones I played and remember so fondly of. They were innvoative, fun and had an excellent narrative (System Shock). Sadly the company closed in 2000 :(
Alot of the employes have joined other companies and were apart in the development of games like: Deus Ex (influenced by System Shock), Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Half Life-2, the Elder scrolls: Oblivion, Fallout 3, Bioshock and many more.ramealdabest
You are my new best friend. System Shock's narrative was pioneering, and Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss had true full 3D environment before Wolfenstein even came out and single-handedly influenced WHOLE Elder Scrolls Series, I'd also add: Origin Systems Inc. and Westwood Studios.
Rare and Clover.

Clover? Clover as in Clover Studios?
They're still around. Their new name is Platinum Games. :P
Westwood. Not much could compete with Command & Conquer Red Alert & Tiberian Sun for me other than Warcraft 2
Can't really think of any dead developers that made games that could compete with the amount of joy, and play time I had with those Command and Conquer games.
Monolith. What are they doing now?
muzik_mafia
A first-person shooter. Go figure.
It would be cool to see them revive an old IP like NOLF or Shogo or even Blood. Could just as well be Condemned 3, though.

Yeah i hope is blood 3..
They're mostly making racing games (GRID, the DiRT series, F1) which are actually doing pretty well, F1 2010 sold around 2 million and their games have been in the 8.5-9 range in terms of reviews, IMO they're some of the best on the market. They are also doing the Operation Flashpoint series, Red River is coming out this year. Oh, and Bodycount, the spiritual sequel to Black, but that looks kinda ****.Does codemasters still make games? I haven't heard of them for a while.
I played to death their LMA Football Manager 2001. Easily over 1000 hours of playtime.

It's not their fault that they make great games, and receive no advertising for them at all.
Bizarre Creations.
the Project Gotham racing series on xbox 360 was Light years ahead of Forza 3 and GT5.
while many will argue that PGR 4 was arcade like ( which it was ) instead of bieng a real sim, PGR4 had many Firsts that GT5 and Forza 3 would duplicate later with varying degrees of fail and sucess. for instance...PGR 4 had damage and weather back in 2007!
In fact the weather effects in PGR 4 have to be SEEN to be believed. water actually beaded on the cars and windshields like they do in reality. run over a pool of water in PGR 4 and you FELT it.

Also lets not forget about The Environements that Bizarre created for this game. lets just end this now, the Environments and buildings in Forza 3 were CRAP! the environments in GT5 ( London and Madrid ) were AMAZING, but even they pale in comparison to New York and Quebeck in PGR 4.
BS you say., LETS TAKE A LOOK.

in fact the only catagories that Forza 3 excell PGR 4 in is customization and damage, and GT5 excells in Lighting and car models. in every other catagory PGR 4 beat these games to the punch 4 years ago.
one of the reasons why GT5 and Forza 3 while great, didnt have the earth shattering impact they should have had was because PGR 4 did many things those games did BETTER back in 2007.
im sad that BC and Microsoft couldnt settle their differences. and although MS owns the PGR franchise, it wont be the same without Bizzarre creations at the helm.
Toaplan (Batsugun) and Raizing (Battle Garegga, Armed Police Batrider, Battle Bakraid). Some of the members from toaplan went on to join either Raizing (whom later became part of eighting), Cave Co. Ltd., and a couple of other companies.
I believe yagwa (in Cave Co. Ltd.) was originally from raizing as well.
edit: as the poster below me said, black isle for sure.
Bullfrog, with Looking Glass studios as a runner up.
Im a syndicate Junkie :P Loved Dungeon Keeper, spent way too many hours in theme park. That Dev team were incredible.
Looking Glass is a bit more of an odd one, I can truthfully say, that they only made a few games I care about, but one of those games happen to be One of my alltime favorite.
