FF has gone downhill ever since IX.

I dont think Ive ever seen a polled thread with more posts than votes, let alone almost twice as many posts than votes.

I am really happy the DS is getting Remakes of FF games because its great to have them on the go and get a real feel of Amano's design with the 3D graphics. Hopefully IV does well so we can get V and VI as well, they are all great games, plus IV is going to have a longer story adding what had to be cut from the original game. Maybe if V and VI come they too will recieve extra content and story elements as well.

FFXII was great though a lot of elements were missing for example.... a story.

If you call going from AAA to another AAA, then yes it's going downhill.

The quality of the game didn't went down the hill but IMHO and I think many others will agree, Final Fantasy doesn't feel like it used to.

this thread is so stupid. FF keeps getting better and better with every installment..Although I liked 10 more than 12,I liked 12's gameplay,but I usually don't play FF's for the gameplay,I play them for the story. Shu76

FFX Story was decent, too many cut-scenes, but lots of side bosses to keep you playing for hours after the game was finished. It also got a higher score than the previous FF game, FFIX which scored an 8.5. i don't consider that "going downhill"

FFX-2 Was a bad game, but by no means the worst FF ever. If you don't know which other game is worst, go and do some damn research.

FFVII: DOC was a spin off, not a real FF game.

FFXI yet another game not considered a real FF game.

FFXII Was a huge step for the FF franchise, no more random battles, the world was bigger then ever before, you had control over the camera, the combat system was a nice change and the story was fairly decent.

So yeah, it hasn't gone downhill.

i wouldn't say downhill, but the slope has gone mostly down. i've played them all, and 12 is the only one i haven't beaten.

in my opinion, 2 3 8 10 and 12 are the bad eggs.

I disagree. I may not have played Final Fantasy IX and I do think that Final Fantasy X is worse than Final Fantasy VIII, but Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is my favourite Final Fantasy game.

I'm pretty sure that you know that Final Fantasy XII is better than Final Fantasy X-2. The series hasn't continually gone downhill. It's just not going anywhere near the best.

I haven't been able to finish FFXII yet, I get bored with it. I don't like the new battle system, and I dislike that there's no more World Map. It really takes away the sense of freedom I used to enjoy in FF games. Plus, there seem to be less minigames and little extras in the game - like the chocobo hunt from FFIX, and chocobo races from FFVII. That's the problem as far as I'm concerned - I don't really care how many cutscenes there are.

You call us kids yet seem to leave out FF4 and FF6 out of your list of top FF games. Heck those two had better stories than any apart from maybe FF7. They were also more mature, definitely FF4 was anyhow.

Yes, there are too many cut scenes now. I hate paying full price for a game, only to find out that it's more like a movie. The original FF's had good stories, but they focused more on playing than watching.BuryMe
