ff13 + GoW3 vs. infinite discovery, lost oddysey and last remnant

This is my dillema on deciding weather or not to sell off my xbox 360 and pick up a ps3. Now before I start don't take this as convince me to buy a ps3 i'm just having a bad dillema lately. Basicly, i've always lived my console life by who has final fantasy, ever since the snes...once sony got a hold of the franchise i switched to playstation then ps2. Heres the problem though, last gen ps2 had the superiour multiplats to go along with it and this year is the opposite. God of war has been a steller series for me as well as I was floored by what it was able to do on the ps2. Now, it appears square has 2 big project on the 360 this go around in inifinite discover and last remnant...those along with lost oddysey could be enough for me to forget the ps3 entirely this generation as they have final fantasy quality's. One of my main concerns is with uncharted looking so damn good and impressive on the graphics front and even the killzone 2 trailer impressed me, I'd hate for FF13 to come out and just mop the floor with anything the 360 has and feel left out. If it was a perfect world MS would buy final fantasy and my mind would be at ease, but its not and I doubt it will ever happen since it's such a huge japanese game. Bleh this sucks, im just ranting...one last question that doesn't have to do with anything I just said.

Anyone know which system is the lead platform for soul calibur 4? This is my other series I will never let go of.

I think you are waaaaaaaaay to early to worry. By the time FF13 comes out you will be able to pick up a PS3 for a lot less cash and in the meantime be able to play all the great games on 360. And don't worry, Uncharted will still be there at that time. (Plus you could save a ton of money to get the system by then, no need to sell off your 360.)deathtoallgods

I've thought about that too, wish i wasn't so freaking impulsive when it comes to my gaming lol. What you suggested would be the smart thing to do.

Nuff' said. Just my opinion anyway. You'll always regret it at some point. Save up and pick up a $400 PS3.

Lets say GoW3 and FF13 release in 1 year and 6 months. Thats 548 days. If you saved a dollar for each of those days, You'll have a PS3 + both games (assuming PS3 drops in price).

See, I'm in the exact same situation : I consider myself an open-ended gamer : I play mostly everything (except sports games). My main interests lie in PC FPS gaming and JRPG console gaming, with a decent dose of hardcore action games (DMC3 completed in Dante Must Die Mode, GoW/GoWII completed under hardest difficulty settings). Anime doesn't bother me, I watch it all the time. I'm as open-ended to Japanese releases as I am to European / North American / Australian releases. And that is a major issue for me.

Last generation, the PS2 stood with the strongest and most expanded library in the console world. It had every single genre you can think of, and had a fresh take on things (Odin Sphere, Okami, SotC). Heck, even some RTS games like Grim Grimoire, I actually enjoyed! The PS2 had prime games in each category to pick from. There was the Final Fantasy brand, there was the Metal Gear Solid brand, the DMC brand, the GoW brand, the Jak & Daxter / Ratchet franchise, and many hidden gems such as Katamari Damacy / ICO / Okami / Shadow Of the Colossus. It was a single-console owner's dream gaming machine.

But curses! This generation sees a very SPLIT distribution amongst the genres through the systems. XBOX360 is predominantly composed of shooters (FPS/TPS) and Sci-Fi themed games (Mass Effect, Halo, Gears Of War).

PS3 is lacking now, but next year is coming out with titles that would fit well into the PS2's repertoire, if they were released last gen (MGS4, FFXIII/Versus XIII, Little Big Planet, etc.)

And the Wii, despite having a couple strong games (SMG, LoZ:TP, SSBM, Mario Kart, etc.), I'm thrown off by the massive amount of trash within its library and its generally small (but high-quality) AA-AAA titles, just like the Gamecube of last gen (but a lot better off in sales). Its most attractive games are First-Party games, which are far and few in between, and that, to me, is something that throws me off from getting one (At least until I get one major console between PS3 and XBOX360).

I'll end this before this turns into a massive wall of text : PS3's got the niche and quirky titles + mainstream titles, XBOX360's mainly focused for Western gamers in mind and puts a leg too deep into old formulas (very little effort to reinvent gaming like the Wii or PS3 titles), and the Wii is a secondary console, I feel, to complement either the Box or the Station.

Yep, no need to get it now.

Now if you didnt had the 60, then it wouldnt be a bad idea, but you got the system to hold until those games are released and you can save money each month to get the system later on. You wont miss anything, you will only be a late adquirer. There are a lot of people who played most of the awesome PS2 titles 2/3 years after their release

FF13 will be brilliant. God OF war 3 will be jaw dropping. Last Remenant is multi plat and looks good. Lost Oddysee is gonna get hyped like stupid just like Blue Dragon and might follow the same direction in terms of scores. Infinite discovery....neva herd of it :PRazMaTaz-1

FF XIII will bring back the World Map and the ship. Now how more awesome can it be?

God of War 3 well, its self explanatory

Last Remnant, not reall super hyped about it, but it looks like half Dynasty Warriors, and I love DW.

Blue Dragon was great, but not on the level of RPGs that are already available as Persona 3, Tales of the Abyss, FF XII etc. What really pissed me was that they used Toriyam to make the character designs, and Tori has 0 artistic ideas. All his characters where made popular in Dragon Ball, and now all that we see are the same character designs.

Infinite Undiscovery will score most likley in the middle 7s, as most of this guys games do. But that doesnt mean it will be bad. So far, imo, it looks like an Star Ocean rip off, but considering that its from the same guys, well whatever.

Lost Oddysey I havent followed this game that much, but I heard nice things about it, and the character designer is a reknowned manga artist, I dont remeber now the most popular manga of the author, but I will check it later.
