FF9 was the game that made me never want to touch another JRPG again, it was my first and last FF game. I was like "What the hell is all the fuss about?!"
one of my all time favorite RPGs but there are too many games i consider on equal terms to call any the best game of all time, but FFIX is the best final fantasy game in my opinion.

Online games are great fun but it's the single player that makes a game one of the best of all time and halo 2 certainly doesnt have a great single player

Wheres the competitve feel. Playing single player is like playing football by yourself
Multiplayer first, single player 2nd, when i was younger and had a n64 and saturn , ya online diddnt matter, but imo all games should have a multiplayer mode , even if its just co-op

I found FF9 to be one of the best FF titles. On the otherhand it isn't in any way shape on form one the best games. I wouldn't even say it is one of the best JRPG's IMO.
For whatever reason I couldn't get into 9. Don't know if it was the games fault or mine... My favourite FF is VII closely followed by V, but neither are my top game. That goes to Mario Galaxy because the gameplay itself is pretty much perfect. Best story and best game are completely different things to me.
the reason why i liked ff9 was because you can feel that it was a homage to the old FFs by hironobu sakaguchi. most people that didnt get into the game were the ones who started playing with ff7 and ff8.

The reason I dislike FF9 is for that very reason. THe reason that FF is so popular and so unique is the fact that it began going steampunk with FF6. As one of the only steampunk JRPGs, it actually had something that set itself apart. I really dislike Crystal chronicles. No not Crsytal Chronicles, btu Crystal chronicles, used to refer to the arcs dealing with crystal energy.

As well it should. 9 was better than 7. I think ff9 is the most underappeciated ffs every mainly due to its characters, but i think the characters gave ff 9 that fantasy feel.
