why would square pull people off making the new game to remake the old game?rdo
A remake wouldn't take that long, and they wouldn't need to do anythign with the FF13 team.

[QUOTE="ajames_123"][QUOTE="Bdking57"]FFVII is a multiplat game... A superior version was released on PC.
[QUOTE="punkindoubt86"]FFVII: REMAKE coming to PS3 exclusively!!!!.......... in 2010Miyomatic
PC version was worse actually if i remember....
Yes, the PC version was worse. By far. Check the GS scores.
Who cares about scores? They were the same game.
The graphics were a little more crisp for the PC version so you could call that version superior.
UH I just got a woody knights of the round in 1080p with 5.1 dd (hugs ps3),Ruby weapon mmnn (strokes ps3),Emerald weapon with bioshock water effects (moves faster),Aerith death scene (my ps3 has rumble omfg), insane materia combos (looks like a giant blew his nose) !!!http://gamers-creed.blogspot.com/2007/05/rumore-final-fantasy-vii-remake-for-ps3.html
based on the frech RPG magasine "Gameplay RPG" that is:
Basically, it says that they were holding the official SE communique stating the announcement of a FFVII's remake for the PS3 exclusively.

Translated:"THE SHOCK! At a few hours of looping, here are that fall between my hands an official official statement from SE indicating the "remake from very appreciated FF VII on Ps3, only". Whereas Sony was made bad blood with all these exclusivenesses which pass to him under the nose, veiled that an advertisement comes to flatter its catalogue. SE does not finish any surprising since, rappellons it, since the technological demo of FF VII for annopncer the arrival of the PS3, nothing had not filtered (...) a demonstration should be presented at next SquareEnix Party."yeah but this time around, it's not just some random folk spreading some rumours but an highly respected magazine specialized in RPGs
Before you say "source gamefaqs!! LOL", the topic which isn't there now had the link to the source.

If square does this fan service I will build a shrine to them and buy all their crappy movies for life.
As much as I'd love to see it (hell, it'd probably be the one thing to drive me to buy a PS3 at current price) I don't see how they could remake it without pissing off a lot of fans. D0013ER
I don't see where they'd find the time. anyone looked at the release roadmap they have? there are like 7 or 8 games already in the works.
[QUOTE="rdo"]why would square pull people off making the new game to remake the old game?Riviera_Phantom
A remake wouldn't take that long, and they wouldn't need to do anythign with the FF13 team.
they'd probably have to rebuild most of it from scratch. you don't just "enhance and port" a 10 year old game. everything but the plot would have to be readdressed.
I don't know what to say ,it is a shock for me and I will accept the game with any changes they do with it even if I prefer FF7 to be the same but with PS3 graphics like the tech demo we all saw, I wanna relive some great moments in FF7.And after they do it, I will demand a FF8 remake :) .
bad82man82
dude i will cry if this comes true well the ff7 that is ff8 was alright
[QUOTE="DireToad"][QUOTE="Baird-06"]Who cares about scores? They were the same game.

Baird-06
Of course you can.
The ps1 vs pc debate is a wash heres why, The pc had better looking in game graphics but the cgi looked like crap so it's even. No real hermit would brag about a crappy ff7 port stop letting cows fool you !!!YEAAAAAAAAAAH BABY YEAH!!!! I've been waiting for this for a loooooooong time! The best game EVER gets remade! OH YES!!! I am so happy I could eat a cheeseburger and film it for GameSpot! Assuming it is true...
But generally speaking, things only get removed like that if they're true, that's what normally happens on message boards...
If this story is true sony will have a massive system seller worldwide I would camp out for the 1st copy. When I saw the demo on ps3 I said YEESS that looks insane better than the old cgi !!!
Sheep and lems would have to think about buying a ps3 and even hermits would beg for a port. Square don't be like sega with skies of arcadia make this happen for all your loyal fans.Just to see knights of the round in 1080p I would buy it no question !!!
[QUOTE="XenogearsMaster"]It will be game over if the FFVII remake is PS3 exclusive.NickyJo
Why?, it's a remake, people have been playing this game for the last ten years it's no longer a big deal. This topic may as well be about cats as it's not true any way.
You don't know how many people are waiting for this game.
If this game is announced, the internet will explode.
no! I want FF8 re-make! boo on Final Fantasy 7, it's almost as overrated as Ocarina of Time. Final Fantasy 8 was so much better  and Final Fantasy 9 was so much better than 8 :cry:forgot_it
Total Agree with you man FFVIII was superior but it had its Moments that made you cry (I cried so what) it was that good (also I think I cried in the ending scene of FFVIII i thought squall had died)
You can continue to believe that article from May 2007, or you can believe this quote from Square in June 2007
June 4, 2007 - A Square Enix power player has issued the most direct denial yet of a Final Fantasy VII remake. Speaking with Japan's monthly Dorimaga gaming publication, character designer Tetsuya Nomura said, "It appears that there are often overseas rumors like 'Are you currently developing a VII remake?' My apologies, but we're absolutely not making [such a game]."
he goes on to say that as long as people want it made they will never say never, but for now it's not on the cards.
very nice isn't it, sadly it's not in the works so you're just going to have to keep on dreaming.

yup.
This game is a guranteed system seller. i don't think it'll be "game over" for microsoft, but it'll further worsen microsoft's hopes of taking over japan. this assuming it isn't multiplat.
i'm willing to bet this'll sell about 2 million guranteed in japan alone.
even if this story is BS square-enix are going to make a remake to 7. firstlly it'd be the crowning game on the compilation of 7 series. Secondly there's the fact that square are guaranteed to make A helluva lot of money off the back off of this one.
I think that people here overestimate just how freaking expensive and time consuming it would be to have a Final Fantasy VII remake on PS3. Square Enix is releasing all the other Final Fantasy remakes on the PSP and DS because they are cheap to produce and it provides consumers with Final Fantasy on the go.
If they do a PS3 FF VII, they are going to have to go all out and make sure it gets the treatment it deserves for next-gen. This means everything will have to change - music, cinematics, effects, and the models and textures. This is, at the very least, a two year project that will cost the company millions and millions of dollars to produce. The game would need to be completely overhauled and with development costs for next-generation gaming as high as they are, they probably won't do it.
And I don't think they are interested in devoting so much time, money and energy on it when they could instead do it for a brand new project.
Seeing as how this unfortunately is probably not going to be announced this year due to the age of this article and its source I will continue to make pagan sacrifices to Square Enix and continue to lose sleep to the mere thought of them annoucning a Final Fantasy 7 remake. I just don't get it, does Square Enix not love money? Doesn't Sony want to win this war? Why didn't Sony pressure Square Enix into doing this a long time ago, it would work out gerat for both because a remake would ship so many systems and sell so many copies. I'd kill to play FF7 redone to top of the line graphics, sound, CGI, even a new (or FFXII's) battle system and buy a PS3 specifically for the remake.
PS I really do hope at the 10 year anniversary they state "We were just kidding, we've been recreating FF7 for the past 6 years and its coming out tomorrow and we lied about it and now we've caught M$ with their pants down. GG Noobs"

See, the problem is, only a die-hard fan like yourself really wants to play a Final Fantasy VII remake. Other than better graphics, the game is not going to offer anything else. Why? Because you have already played it. You know all the secrets of it, you know the strengths and weaknesses of the bosses, you know the story, you know how it ends, you know pretty much everything about the game. Granted, Square Enix may add some additional content, but the overall game, and its mechanics, are still going to be the same, just with better graphics. This is a wet dream for Final Fantasy VII enthusiasts, but I don't see casual gamers forking over hundreds of dollars to play it.
If this truly is the key for Square Enix to sell millions of copies and for Sony to sell millions of PS3s, then how come they are wasting their time making Final Fantasy XIII right now? Because it will probably sell more than a Final Fantasy VII remake. It will look spectacular and offer gamers a new story and new quests and a completely new experience.
Yes, there are a lot of die-hard Final Fantasy players, but the ones that are are probably Sony fans as well and are going to get the PS3 anyway for Final Fantasy XIII. It's not going to make a difference at all making a Final Fantasy VII remake.
whoa if that is true....then thats Great! ffxii with next gen graphics, sounds, physics etc.!redandblack23
Me, personally, I would MUCH rather see a direct sequel to Final Fantasy VII. I think THAT would generate a lot of buzz and Square Enix would sell a lot of copies of the game. People want to see the continuing adventures of Cloud, and they would like to play it out at the same time.
yea...id be one of them. judging by the way square are treating the 7 spin offs....id seek an injunction that would ban them from touching the game again.....ever.
SE should pass the duties to a better dev because, fankly, there not good enough. most of the ppl involved in the development of 7 have since left square.
oo i could see the selling points. "twice the number of FMVs. stunnning graphics, remixed and improved musical score, voice acting throughout the game thanks to the blu-ray disc". and yet the game would loose its soul. it would be all style and no substance (judging by SEs attempts at other 7 games).
no...they have no business touching it imho. still...the market demands it and they will more than likely make it. i just know that i wont be giving it a second look.
thats dumb, they should just leave the game alonedarthblob10agreed if they remade it it would take away the magic that the ps1 had plus they would add stuff to it and probaly change some things

Ah you do have a great point it really would just be a fan service to the die hards, but the majority of the player base already played and loved it on PS1 and now they want a new game not a remade FF7...o well maybe it is for the better so that I do not have to pay for a PS3.:P
I actually have a very good friend working at Nintendo, and she said that the FVII remake will be announced soon. However, it is not going to be an actual remake..
You are going to play the game from Sephiroths perspective and do everything he did to reach where he is in the game. Also, i heard is spans into the Advent Children time period.

You are very wrong, a remake will sell millions because of the demand of the user base that loves FF7 very much, hell there a petition for the remake some guy made it few days ago.
It will be a lot more better selling than NG:S because NG doesn't have half of the reputation FF7's, if NG:S sold 500k until now, FF7 will sell 10 times more than NG at least.
This is further proof that Square has no original ideas whatsoever and cling on to their past glories, mainly because blind fanboys will bend over for Square if asked to. :|ferrarimanf355
Um... Final Fantasy 12, 13...
