[QUOTE="cloud3601"]no, they just need to make a good game.
IX for example is widely accepted as a good game by many.
your trying to suggest that they are "damned if they do, damned i they dont". i disagree.
Even if they didnt go back to their roots and did something different.
I wouldn't mind if it was just a GOOD GAME.
Back when FF7came out, it went away from the normal medieval setting of FF. Away from its roots a little. But they actually made a good game out of it. I dont complain

FFXIII was a good game, and yes, they are in a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation.
They have been in this situation since FFVII, lot's of people hate VII with passion because they want another FFVI, tons of people think that FFVII is overrated and that VIII was the better game, tons of people think that FFVII is the best JRPG ever, etc, etc, etc, with such a diverse fanbase and so many divided opinions Square will never please everybody, XII and XIII are a perfect example of this, even if they are good games.
the metacritic score of FF4-10 is in the 90. not true for FF13.Which is in the 80'sFF12 also has a metacritic score over 90. But it has a very low user score, a huge difference between its metacritic andu ser score. i would say the user score is mroe accurate representation.
FF4-10 has a high user score.
FF12 and 13 has a very low one
FFXIII has an 8.3 in MC and 8.1 in user score...nuff said, it was a good game, deal with it, you cannot like it, which is fine since everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
