FFXIII-2 - Pay to play as Lightning!

The problem with this game is that it seems to have been designed with the intention of you continously paying for DLC to make up for lack of content. Square can only come up with one new character? No, they probably designed the game so that you'd be encouraged to buy DLC characters from the first game.

I'm sorry to say but, get used to it. This has been going on this gen all the time and I believe next gen it can only get worse.

Lightning was never interesting but I admit that this is low, especially for Square.

That's what happens when a Japanese developer decides to learn from Western developers.

People want more characters so they take part in the story and dialog not just to play in combat, which can't be done now because the damage is already been done. I'm guessing Lightning just works like any other monster in the game, you equip her in the paradigm deck, she has one class(probably ravager), and a new QTE.. In the end, shes just another monster with different skin. Pointless DLC. An you're right this entire game was based around DLC milkage, not as a sequel. Lets hope the proper main installments of FF and FF Versus XIII don't fall victim to this kind nickel and dimage DLC.

I prefer DLC expansions to buying whole new editions for the game. I can pick and choose what I want to buy rather than buying a whole new copy of the game if I only wanted to get "X" thing out of it.

I do have one problem with it though...

I just cancelled my pre-order. I'm truly disgusted by this.

I'll be picking this up in the used bin, same as you.

I decided last month that I definitely wont be buying this game. And SE keeps on giving me reasons to stand by my decision. :)

There are two things I must wonder

1. How much is each DLC going to cost?

2. Was Square-Enix planning this from the very beginning, or did this all pop up very late in the development of FFXIII-2, or just recently?

Whatever the case I don't really care that much about this, or atleast don't really view this much differently from most other DLC. Most other companies have been doing this this gen so I can't exactly say I'm shicked and appalled by Square doing this. And if I don't like it, I just won't buy it. If I WAS going to buy FFXIII-2, I'd want it for the main-quest and not really DLC content anyways...

Not that I am excited over this or reallt defending SE's decison or anything, just not really that mad or upset. DLC has, for better or worse, become a bug part of the gaming business, and SE, being a business, wants to try and cash in on it. *shrug*

I've said I'd buy the game used, but really this is the state I'm in right now. I'm not gonna buy it any time soon.

Another reason for me to skip XIII-2 for Soulcalibur V on the 31st. I'll just buy XIII-2 used when it hits the bargain bin in May. :D
