I heard the english Voice Acting For Star Ocean 4 is something truly hideous to hear but that shouldn't make the game any less enjoyable, I hope Tri Ace gets to work in a Ps3 port soon and learn from Namco, they're releasing Tales Of Vesperia on the Ps3 and It'll have both the japanese and the english voice acting, because Blu Ray allows all that and more, there's 50gb of space more than enough for anything :D, The Ps3 Version of final Fantasy should have the original japanese voice acting as a Bonus, but for all I care.AgentA-Mi6I'm pretty sure the PS3 version will have the original Japanese voiceovers. (Final Fantasy 13)

So this is FFXIII's yuffie?
Are recycled personalities part of the FF tradition or SE just too inept to create something unique or interesting.
Blue-Sky
A mixture of both. I thought she was more Rikku than Yuffie personally.
Any character they put out will be FFXIII's (insert previous FF character here). I bet you cant make up a new character that SE hasnt thought up yet without making the character sound retarded. After 12 FFs i think they've made every type of character. So this is FFXIII's yuffie?

sort of agree. This new chick doesnt look like shes going to steal all your gear.
Old thread is old.
Anyways I thought Lebreau was FF XIII's Yuffie/Rikku type character and this one was more Rinoa/Yuna etc like.
She just sounds British to me. You guys got something against British people? NotackanNo. It just doesn't work. You got something against people who have opinions on English VO?
That's the thing. While some of the English voices are really good, the Japanese voices are overall better. :/
I'm going to get the Japanese version first, so I'll probably be really sensitive to it in the English ver. High pitched voices work okay in Japanese sometimes but not so much in English. :s
For whatever reason, when it comes to Final Fantasies, Square seems to have trouble finding good voice actors. X (mostly Tidus) was more miss than hit, XII was actually a step in the right direction, and Dissidia is definitely hit or miss.

Your importing it too huh? While the JP voices are generally superior to the English VA, they're still aboe the general jrpg standard (im probably going to get the UK version when its really cheap too). Im just getting it because i cant wait any longer for it.
I really hope this game releases in Novemeber, or atleast before late december. Trust me, importing in middle-late december = delivery in Feburary or none at all.

I intended to import it originally anyways. I just want the English ver. to have the best voice acting it can, because I'm going to need to play the English version to pick up what I was able to in the Japanese ver. I hope the voices grow on me, but I think the biggest problem is the eventual scene where someone screams "VANILLA!" ... It's going to sound terrible in English because it can't hide behind an alternate pronounciation. I hope they pronounce her name the French way.
It will release in November.

I never understand how people say "Japanese voices" are better? When most, if not a majority of people here cannot understand the language. I'm not pointing you out directly, just overall... I personally prefer English voices. I don't care if it's terrible, Japanese voices aren't going to make it any better for me because I don't understand what they're saying and I have to read the game more so. If the game's VA is truly that bad though, I may just turn it off and read or pop on Japanese voices and see how much from Japanese class can I remember. :P Truth is, I really dislike lots of Japanese voices cause they're so similar, they exaggerate waaaay too much on simple sentences, and are just too overdramatic. I'm willing to be not everyone in Japan talks like the anime voices (as I dub it) of Japanese voice actors. It's just too overdone and even annoying. Almost all cute girls have that same high pitched voice, all men have the deep scruffy tone or the idiot comic relief sounds just like the idiot comic relief in other games. That's the thing. While some of the English voices are really good, the Japanese voices are overall better. :/

Not in my opinion. First of all, i can't understand it. Second they all are either very high pitched, or monotoned. Third, i dislike reading whilst playing. I do however agree, that dubbed voice acting can be unbearable.[QUOTE="hakanakumono"]I never understand how people say "Japanese voices" are better? I can understand how Japanese voices would be pointless for those who don't know or aren't learning the language. But I can tell you that the voices in XIII are overall better in Japanese judging from what I've seen. This isn't always the case. Japanese voices aren't inheritly better than English voices and there are instances where the opposite may be true, which I suspect is the case with Lunar.
The voices are very natural sounding in Japanese and what may sound "overdramatic" to your ears may work perfectly in Japanaese. It's difficult to know what you're talking about in relation to XIII, but basically everything in XIII thus far has been pretty natural sounding in Japanese and all of the voice acting is superb. The English voice acting is superb in some cases like with Lightning but in other cases like with "Jihl" it's not so natural. A lot of this has to do with familiarity to the respective languages.
As for Anime, yes it usually is over-exaggerated but I don't really follow Anime, so ...
Meh, i dislike Japanese voice acting so anythign else is better.

I agree, anything's better than the ear-piercing screeches of Japanese female voice actors.
