so a few months have past and this game still baffles me! how could the creators of FF7-10,12 which all got above a 90/100 score average create a game of such low quality?!

FF should just not be made into an MMO. Keep it a RPG.tagyhagFFXI was a great MMO that over 1 million people have played. It was extremely successful and still has 200k active players today, 8 years after launch.

If anything Final Fantasy X started the downward spiral. That's where things became less about exploring, batles, and the over world, etc and more focused on a cinematic experience. That's not to say FFX wasn't enjoyable but I think that is where the downfall started since that is when Square-Enix's direction changed in regard to the series.FF7 was downhill for the series.dotWithShoes

I think that square enix is getting way to much criticism. Final Fantasy 12 encouraged open world probably more than any other FF.they need to redeem themselves with versus or i see the franchise going downhill very soon if not all readycoltgamesTheyre beyond redemption on Consoles. Id have to agree it was the downfall of the series it was the first game to have plot holes one could not look past. Thankfully Sakaguchi even at that time had less to do with final fantasy before he left square so he cant be blamed for the travisty that final fantasy became because of 7.[QUOTE="coltgames"]they need to redeem themselves with versus or i see the franchise going downhill very soon if not all readyDibdibdobdoboTheyre beyond redemption on Consoles. The only salvation that SE have is there Handheld work. I personally wouldnt say that, I LOVED FFXIII and am looking forward to the sequel, and at the same time Square looks to be doing a full 360 on FFXIV...they seem to be overhauling everything and doing everything they can to cater to the fans. Plus I get the feeling that half the people here who are saying that FFXIV is beyond saving blahblahblah have most likely not even played the game. Just a note though, I have not played FFXIV so my statement there may be a little false as I am only going off of stuff I have read on news outlets and forums, if I am wrong feel free to correct me

and this thread isnt about SE in general because they're doing fine as a company, its about the FF franchise and how a company with such a great repuation for their 1-10,12 iterations could make a disaster like FF14

I don't know why you didn't include the critically acclaimed masterpiece that FFXI was, but the fact of the matter is, SE released FFXIV as early as they did to divert attention away from other games like SWTOR, Rift, or WoW: Cataclysm. When this game is re-released for PS3 it will be up to standards.[QUOTE="warz0r09"]FF7 was downhill for the series. The creator of FF7 isn't with square enix anymore. I enjoyed FFVII a lot, but I think it just gets an unwarrented amount of praise at times.

So what? I can't enjoy VII as one of my favorite games because I started playing Final Fantasy prior to it? I love almost all Final Fantasy games and very few of them really irk me and VII stands up as one of my favorite of the series. Then again it can't be because I "know better" because I played the older games prior to it... Then again my opinion is moot to most because I'm one of the few crazy fools still playing FFXIV and enjoying it, well "was" I'm now waiting for them to bring the servers back up after Japan got all kinds of hurt. I'm willing to bet that the PS3 launch of XIV will turn alot of opinions about the game around, but thats me placing my bets on the new producer seems like a standout guy.[QUOTE="JLF1"][QUOTE="dotWithShoes"] FF7 was downhill for the series.NeoStar9

The game is so bad that they didn't charge people after the initial month ended because they wanted people to stay until they 'fixed it'. Even that didn't prevent people from leaving in flocks. They stopped having public tracking of the server population about a month ago.

There is no single creator responsible for FFVII. It was a joint effort. If it were Sakaguchi's project, we'd be playing as "hot blooded detective Joe."
