Final E3 Report Card! Long, and Bias not allowed!

Ok, well E3 is over. I watched clips of all three press conferences, read up on new titles and interviews, and watched spike tv last night about E3 closing and such. I did a lot of research before typing this up to be fair to all 3 companies.

Here's how I think they did. Not you, but what I think, lol:

Nintendo: Though Wii music was actually reall cool, the whole presentation wasn't too great. Even the speakers made it awkward. To me, I was not catered hardcore games that I'd expect from Nintendo. Even Reggie wasn't in his domination mode. When Geoff Keighley put pressure on him last night about the lack of games, Reggie couldn't really say anything, other than saying that Animal Crossing and Wii Sports 2 Resort were Nintendo's hardcore games. I was on the same boat with Geoff. Other than the somewhat dissapointment of the Wii's line up, the DS on the otherhand got some great games. All in all, it was lackluster at best.

Sony: Sony's was very well planned. The demos of some of their upcoming games were very impressive to say the least. The whole set up with all the Sony HD tv's was a great effect. Their trailers were very enjoyable and presentable. I wished they made more emphasis on new games no one knew about for 2008, but still it was very enjoyable. Jack Tretton had a great performance, and was one of the only presentors that didn't give off that really conceided feel. He was great and handled everything professionally. Though God of War 3, Home, and GT5 won't be here for a good time, I still felt pretty satisfied. I wished for more rpg news and platfor news, and because no news of that I'll deduct points from their grade. Anyhow, the psp is going strong, as well as the downloadable content. Little Big Planet is going to be the most innovative game and I can't wait. All in all, their performance was great. Though no surprises other than the video store and God of War 3, it was very good.

Microsoft: Now down to Microsoft. Though during their conference they changed between speakers many times, they gave quite a show. Of course, who can forget Final Fantasy 13. The whole announcement with the SE president was very suspensful, since at first no one knew it was FF13. All in all, that moment goes down with other E3 megatons, such as the original SSBB announcement. (Another cool moment was when Glados talked on stage, haha). Even without Final Fantasy 13, MS delivered. More hardcore games that appeal to me coming out this year was awesome! One thing in particular that was really great was all the game developers showing of their games. That to me showed great 3rd and 1st party suppor for the system. The only thing about the conference was some of the avater videos and the "your in the movies" presentation. All in all, I can't wait to update my xbox 360 this fall to become a new experience, and with a great 2008 line up, as well as getting Star Ocean 4 and Final fantasy 13 later in 2009, makes the 360 my rpg console.

Verdict:

Nintendo: D+

Sony:B+

Microsoft: A

As you see, Sony and Microsoft were close. I gave MS a half point higher due to Net Flix, as well as having a show that made me get goosebumps. All in all, it was Microsoft and Sony who won.

With this said, whats your grade and why. NO bias or fanboys. Enjoy, and heres to E3 2008:)

Im not reading all that, but the grades for each seem about right.

just because E3 as a whole isn't what it used to be.

Good review, but nintendo did a good move.

PS3 had a low blow with the whole FF13 deal, but still had some things to show for itself.

MS to me had some damn impressive things to show too. New Dashboard seemed sleek and easy to navigate and the avatars don't really cut it for me though.

I'd go with

I'm with you TC.... MS just slightly better than Sony's, though I had some issues with Sony's Spokesman blatantly lying about Playstations sold, and that misleading bit about the CELL being used for the Supercomputer.... other than that it was a pretty solid show for Sony.... but they needed more showings of games coming soon.

MS was really solid, but didn't show us any games that we didn't already know were in development, but the games that were shown were pure gaming goodness and the FFXIII was a BIG OL MEGATON

Nintendo... ugh, I'm still trying to block it out, please don't ask me to try and recall any of it....

All three companies need to learn that fake enthusiasm is as transparent as saran wrap. Is it really that hard to get a good public speaker to rep your product?

That was actually well done. Grades were similar to Pachter (except he doesn't have the wrath of a core gamer on Nintendo:P), I'm actually thinking of signing up for Netflix now.SSCyborg

Do it. Game system arguements aside, Netflix is a great service. I really enjoyed it when I had it, and now that I have moved I will get it again. Especially with this announcement. I had been debating with blockbuster online, but this killed it for them.

cons: Abandoning the Hardcore, stereotyping a girl gamer, and then believing we are stupid enough to be hyped about Animal crossing on the Wii that looks like it should be on the DS. Splitting up their market with Wii motion plus or forcing their buyers of Wii sport resort to buy another Wii motion plus so two players can play together because normal Wii control doesn't work with it.

Stupid ass WiiMusic, that sounded like crap. I can do the same thing with real music (not midi) and a baguette.

cons: Showing off that new dashboard and avatars, taking to much time with the multiplats demo. Alan wake not on the show.

Sony : C
cons: to much CGI, wasting time on their PS2 when the one that needs more media attention is the PS3. Where was Naughty Dog project.

I thought this E3 was very lackluster, and the most exciting news to me was about Gears of War, Fable 2 and MAG.

a lot of good games shown by Microsoft / Sony but not too many big announcements. As for Nintendo, it was just bad for gamers (which makes me sad as a Wii owner since day 1)

MS gets the small edge (thus the ++ and not the A-) by annoucing FF13. But that was it.

Sony had great trailers and some good new games shown but not enough shown (i.e. GoW3 and MAG)

Nintendo was, just so sad....

Still love the reggie comment, "WE got animal crossing with voice chat, WE R HARDCOREZ!!!!"

i think MS won because they have the best policy of focusing in the games that will come out this year there was plenty on display gears 2, fable 2, banjo and viva 2 not 2 mention great arcade titles. Sony once again showed a lot of titles that probably wont make 2008 i can only think of resistance and possibly LBP what else do they have? And of course MS announced that one of the biggest franchises is coming to the 360. Plus Home was mia so all in all i think MS scraped it tho its not like you would say any different would you renegade.

Mostly release dates and some surprizes here and there, but mostly bland (which is C), only thing giving it a B is the surprizing FFXIII announcement that made me :cry:
