I doubt SE can do anything beyond VII Remake series at this point within the franchise, unless it's some spinoff for mobile or Switch. If they announce XVI then it will probably be another XV case in which it will take years and be late in the gen or even next-next gen.

There is a bigger chance of god of war 2 being announced.

I sincerely doubt it, but if so... Don't be another FFXV.

I'd believe it. Honestly surprised it hasn't been announced already, but a new gen on the horizon seems like as good a time as any to start the (years long) hype machine.

And yeah, not sure why there seems to be some new confusion about SE only focusing on one FF at a time. These games have been in overlapping dev cycles under different directors and teams since gen 5.

I believe it, but I sure as hell hope that isn't the big surprise... FF has sucked for years now.. well outside of the MMO that is pretty good that is.

Just give me SOCOM damnit... SONY said they were going to be pushing online multiplayer next gen and haven't shown much of anything yet outside of the RL/Twisted Metal abomination (yes, I'll probably get it :P).

They already have Althia and FF7R Part II. If it's just an announcement, possibly. But we won't be seeing that into fruition anytime soon.

How and why is Sony fucked? Xbox or Nintendo dont even have games this year.

Final Fantasy games have not been great in over a decade. I sure wish the would go back to traditional swords and sorcery (like 1,2,4,5,9). Unfortunately we all know that is not going to happen as that crew is stuck on Final Fantasy 14 forever.

You could say it is a shame though in a sense, as the most talent from Square Enix right now seems to be in their MMO divisions, with 11's Chains of Promathia, Wings of the Goddess, and 14's Heavensward and Shadowbringers having better stories than their single player outings.

Exactly. As much I enjoyed Final Fantasy 11, and 14, I just wish they would get back to making real Final Fantasy games. Unfortunately with them too busy holding up the entire company with revenue from Final Fantasy 14, we are stuck with the B teams making all the non-mmo Final Fantasy games. Sad really.

I believe they will announced it, yes of course they will, we might even get the game by ps6 release lol, i wish i was kidding.

If this hasn't even started, or only just started, then it would not seem ideal to make it the big announcement. Plus, given the success of the FFVII Remake, you'd think the follow-up that's suppose to be coming in near future would be worth giving considerably more attention to.
