@Maroxad: Sephiroth one step behind you? He could have killed cloud in the end.

@SolidGame_basic: @strategyfn: @Sagemode87: @elpresador-911: You realize many of us Xbox owners buy our console so we aren’t fed a slew of anime games like this crap, right?
the difference we get to choose between sony exclusives and third party games.
were xbox if you have a xbox one x you get slightly better looking third party games. you guys don't have enough first party this gen to compete with sony or to say xbox is the better choice.
@lundy86_4: Damn how fast is your connection? If I downloaded the game it would take 12 to 16hrs.
this is why the ssd has me more excited than power. you can free up your ssd then if you want to go back to the game you can download it in mins. rather than hours. now i don't have to regret delecting some thing to free up my harddrive.
@MirkoS77:
It's really the best case scenario for everyone. SE knew that purist fans were going to hate the remake no matter what - unless it was a 100% copy of the original. But then it would scare off potential new fans who were interested in FFVII but didn't want to endure the archaic battle system.
Story included, and I know other hardcore FFVII fans will disagree with me on this: Final Fantasy VII doesn't nearly hold a candle to ANYTHING in the market today. It's outdated in every sense of the word and it's just impossible to enjoy it for any other reason than the nostalgia. The remake modernizes every detail of the game and has a much stronger narrative.
But the purists would never accept THIS as the proper way to honor the original. So why not make it it's own universe instead? That way fans will still have the old version to look back on and everyone else will have this. The new twist also gives this version of Final Fantasy VII its own unique identity too. Which isn't really a bad thing.
I agree with what I bolded.
@___gamemaster__: No matter what Square enix did with the remake not everyone is going to be pleased. For me, I'm enjoying it immensely.
10 is being thrown around too much I remember pubg being given a 10 which blows my mind. FF 7 remake might well be a 9 which is a great score.
The era of reviewers being critical of games is pretty much over, which is why I barely care about reviews anymore. Games get 10/10 like wildfire now.

The same issue is brought up with most 10/10 games. Final Fantasy 7 is no exception. It joins the ranks of free for all 10s just like Uncharted 4, Breath of the Wild and The Witcher 3.

What games to you think should be getting 10s? Gamespot roasts games all the time.
Congrats to FF7R!

You do realize that download speeds are determined by your internet speed, NOT the SSD speed, right?

The SSD hype is hilarious. So far, I read that SSDs increase graphical detail, reduces load on the GPU, allows for games to be seamless (despite the fact it can be done without a SSD and games already offer this) and now it speeds up your download speed. LMAO

He probably meant SSD will help eliminate or reduce installation time but if I am wrong. Wtf
Just finished the game and can say I absolutely loved it ( minus the stupid motorbike parts!!).
However I have no idea how they going to make a part two for this in the sense of character progression, we got all Materia ( minus ultimate) are lvl 40-50 and have a ton of weapons already, so not sure how they can fit in another entire game without resetting the progress??

They could just have you start the game at lvl 1 again with all weapons and equipment.
Congrats to FF7R!

yeah i realized i worded it wrong. i meant after you download it. i wonder if the read speed of the bluray will boot up your game faster when putting it the disc for the first time. meaning will the read speed of your bluray keep up with the fast ssd.
Congrats to FF7R!

yeah i had a brain fart. i worded it wrong I meant the install times. sucks there is no way around the slow internet speeds.
wonder if the bluray will be different if you buy physical copy of the game if the read speed can keep up with the ssd. meaning if you own the game will it be instant play.

All of them in the first part? FFVII had a load of Materia you could only get in the later parts of the game and some of the more hidden ones like KOTR required you to breed Chocobo until you got a gold one in order to reach it and thats something you couldnt do until you got the highwind on disc 2. Then there was Choco-mog, Titan, long range, added cut, full cure, comet, magic plus, Kjata, Leviathan, Odin all came after Midgar to name a few.
@pelvist: summon Materia aside( which imo doesn’t really count) yeah there might be a few we haven’t seen. But all the staple ones we already have and have maxed out. One of great things about the first one was the slow progression of Materia and the feeling of excitement when you first maxed your first lightning Materia.
@djoffer: They could do it like the Trails series did, where if you max out, then you get a level boost in the next game, along with some extra boons. It is kinda silly that you can literally max out materia that in the original wasn't feasible until mid-late game.
@pelvist:You can get Ifrit/Shiva/Fat Chocobo/Leviathan/Bahamut via completing Battle Intels for Chadley and then you have to fight them to attain the materia. The only summon you find is Chocobo and Moogle. As for Materia, you can max out a bunch, but there are still plenty they could include... That being said, they've made certain things as usable skills now which you can utilize once your ATB is at 1 or 2.

I looked up what non summon materia you can get before and after Midgar in the original to compare with what you've already got, I may have missed a few:
Midgar:
After Midgar:
I remember the materia would level up in stars on the original game, some only had three stars and some had five or so. These might not all be in FFVIIR, and id imagine some new ones could be in the later parts of the remaster too, I just hope those parts come soon.

Keep all progress. Just like what Baldur's Gate 2 and Banjo Tooie did.
Regarding Levelling: Each game could be a 50 level thing.
Remake one be balanced around 1-50
Remake two be balanced around 40-100
Remake three be balanced around 90-150.
Final Fantasy already broke the 9999 cap ages ago. They can do the same with the level cap.
Regarding Materia:
Final Fantasy has added a LOT of new spells since FF7 was a thing. Add those, invent some new spells. Bring back Materia to pay homage to FF5 jobs such as Geomancer. Or even Bravely Default. Or FF11. FF14 Job Mechanics can be imported if need be.
@Maroxad: Well the cutscene is the story so as of right now he is far beyond the current party. And even when you fight him you have to switch like a maniac.
Yet in the actual game he was fairly underwhelming power wise. A guy suddenly activating his plot armor in a cutscene. does not make him intimidating. The fact that cloud could kick his teeth in up until that moment shows that he isnt really a threat to anyone.
How do I get me one of those SSD's that increase my internet download speeds? I will gladly pay you Tuesday for one of those today.
