Final Fantasy isn't such a big deal

It's certainly a shame for people who really want to play it on their PS3 and are now saying "what's the point in buying a PS3 now?"

However, Final Fantasy isn't the kind of game which people will be queuing for hours in order to get. It's a game which appeals to a niche market. Sony probably realised that it's not financially viable enough for them to spend time fighting for the game.

It's certainly ownage from Microsoft on a level of "we just took one of your most revered exclusives". but to be honest, from a financial view point, i doubt Sony will be losing much sleep over this. I think i'd be much more concerned if Microsoft took Resistance 2 or something.

I know there are a lot of Cows who were saying how amazing Final Fantasy would be, but it's probably more pointscoring than anything else. I know i was never going to buy Final Fantasy.

Don't worry about the Playstation 3, losing this game's exclusivity doesn't mark it's downfall. Regardless of how dissapointing it is to many.

I agree, I have never played a FF game apart from when I was at a friends house, and it bored me.

I am sure for the fans it will be great, but like you said, from sonys point of view it does not matter much.

Though I wouldn't post this, fanboys will call it "damage control" or something.

To me though it going multiplat is good, means all the fans can enjoy it. Me? I wont be getting it, on either system.

Its RPG crack so Sony does take a punch, but like you said RPG's are a niche market

Personally I couldnt care less, Final Fantasy bores me (except for Tactics and Tactics Advance)

The bottom line is, the FF series has been one of the most treasured franchises of the PS brand for awhile now, and here they just lost it to one of their biggest rivals.

Cows, please don't act like FF is terrible now, it's a fantastic series for the most part and you all know it.

Lemmings, don't try to backtrack and claim you've always loved the FF series, because when it was only on the PS2/3 it was considered **** by you lot.

Square has confirmed that the US PS3 version will be out 6-12 months BEFORE the 360 version, they haven't even began to make the 360 version yet. The 360 version WIL NOT be out the same time as the PS3 version.

Actually it's already been confirmed by gamespot that the XBOX360 and PS3 version will come out at the same time in US and EU. It's only the Japanese version that comes out on the PS3 first. Which nobody gives a damn about.

I haven't liked FF that much since FF9 came out. It's just too commercialized now and I hate all these spinoffs it's ridiculous.

I see this move as a desperate sales attempt by Square, probably thinking since the Xbox sells probably games will come with it. I won't be surprized that MS bundles this with their console since this is a huge game.

You are wrong on so many accounts. FF13 would have forced some X360 owners to buy a PS3. It would have forced some that only had a PS2 right now to buy a PS3.

Now they have a choice......X360 or PS3. Which console is cheaper? If you already own an X360, what other game would force you to buy a PS3?

It's one game but after the last year.......they've lost so much, it's starting to add up. You can't tell the difference essentially between PS3 and X360 anymore, aside from the big price difference. Losing one of your top 3 franchises (and yes FF in my eyes was a top 3) is HUGE. Stop downplaying it, that was a crushing blow to cow nation and Sony.

Fanboys are making way to much fuss for FF. I dont even see why FF is such high regarded series, i never have played any FF game because i dont like rpg's and the game looks like (graphics wise) is made for 8-10 years children.

But anyway i don't even care that much since i will never buy any FF game, since i am not interested into rpg's.

so explain this to me, why has there been so many posts about FF13 NEVER coming to 360 in the last year?

obviously people wanted the game on the 360 for a long time, even if it was just for bragging rights for some people, but SONY fans made sure to let MS fans know that they would never have the game and that it could never run on the 360.

now you guys are going to make posts all day about how MS fans didn't want it but now they love it since they can have it?

why do we do this?

I could say Sony fans hated achievements, that is was stupid, had no purpose, but now home is coming and pretty little trophies, now all of a sudden Sony fans have seen the light and are going nuts for trophies, but I'm not going to dwell on that.

FF is apart of a long line of games the 360 claimed as it's own and threads like this one + all the damage control and crying make it hilerious. I hate FF but i love the fact it's now multiplat.

you need to stop. Final Fantasy is a HUGE franchise, so you need to understand that. If a game loses it's exclusivity, then Sony's in deep doo-doo. If people who have an Xbox 360 who were going to get a PS3 for FFXIII, then Sony just lost that person's four hundred dollars. So now Sony just lost money on this, and everything that I can do on a PS3 I can also do on my PC. Final Fantasy is a HUGE deal for gamers, you can no longer call yourself a gamer. You must sell all your games and gaming consoles and leave system wars, and never come back again.

I think it matters, my friend is a huge RPG fan, he owns a 360 and was waiting for FF13 to buy a PS3, now he doesn't have to. its only one person, but it is the one person Microsoft and Sony want in their camp. any person who doesn't buy your system but buys another system for any reason is a big deal.
