Final Fantasy isn't such a big deal

no offense, but if you are not into rpg's and don't understand why its a big deal and NEVER played an FF game, then you should really keep your opinion to yourself.:P

I doubt this will influence PS3 sales and FF13 sales for the PS3 version. It just means the number of total sales will be higher for the game, since people just owning the 360 can now also get it. People who own both the 360 nd PS3 will most probably buy the PS3 version, because that's the system they're used to playing it on and secondly the 360 version will be a port, which often means inferior. The only loss is people who already own a 360 and were going to buy a PS3 for just this game, which can never be a large number. Maybe here on these forums some people fall into the last category, but gamers on these boards are hardly the norm. NielsNL

If they've been playing FF games on their Sony systems before and know that the 360 version is a ported version of the PS3 version, I guess brand loyalty, familiarity with the controller all that stuff and the fact that ports are never better and sometimes worse than the originals will drive them towards the PS3 rather than the 360, if FF13 is the reasons they're entering this gen.

But you are a hardcore gamer. Like I said before, you are not the norm. I think my theory is pretty accurate if we're discussing the masses of consumers. You can't simply deny the existence of brand loyalty.

However, Final Fantasy isn't the kind of game which people will be queuing for hours in order to get. It's a game which appeals to a niche market. Sony probably realised that it's not financially viable enough for them to spend time fighting for the game.

Final Fantasy VII was ONLY SECOND in terms of games that sold the most copies for the PSone , and Final Fantasy VIII was only 8th on the list. I mean only 2nd and 8th? Who cares? No one has ever waited in line for the second best selling game on a console....

As for the PS2 teh proof is even more evident!!! Final Fantasy X was only 7th on the all time software sales list, and Final Fantasy XII was 9th.

The comment was to illustrate the fact that the TC implyed that Final Fantasy was a game that dwelled in a Niche market, which is why I quoted that portion of his comment. To imply that it doesn't sell even though its clearly been a very successful software seller for the last two PS unit pretty well implies otherwise.

I'll say this, most lems said FF was the only reason to own a PS3 to them. Most lems said it was the only game worthy of bragging rights however they did say it was never going to release in 2009. Now that it's multiplat and won't release UNTIL the X360 version is completed (which makes me lol....PS3 version will jsut be sitting on their shelf waiting for X360 lol)....expect a 2010 release. I seriously doubt this game will be out for Christmas 2009. Japan, yep it'll be out way before but a US release is wayyyyyyyyy off now. Which means all those titles you just mentioned become a bigger deal.
