Final Fantasy Versus XIII

I hear a lot of people say they'd rather play Versus XIII than the regular XIII.

Why is this? We have barely information on Versus XIII that I'm aware of, just that ONE trailer. I don't think people would rather play Versus XIII, it's just that they're still trying to justify their PS3 purchase since XIII has been announced for the 360.

(I'm a PS3 owner btw, but I bought my PS3 for other reasons.)

The Versus premise has interested me more from the very start. But you know what, you obviously know better than me about my own tastes so maybe I should just let you decide my likes and dislaikes from now on, right?

Hmmm, i'd rather play Vs XIII right now, rather than FF XIII and I own both PS3 and 360. Just looks very interesting from what we've seen (which, granted, isn't much).

They say that based on the more darker tone FF Versus 13 appears to portray and possibly the fact that it's made by the KH team and it's an action RPG. I myself would just like to see some gameplay of it. It could also be to do with FF13 going multiplat but I doubt it as much.

the fact that is darker and more action oriented draws more fans to it,also it has a great director and is a ps3 exclusive "till e3 at least",also way too cool lead character instead of a girl (he is like a sasuke clone),also square said that we are gonna hate the personality of noctis so i am quite more interested there.

i will buy both cause i know both will be masterpieces,they are in the works for alot of time by different teams and are the first good this gen games by se.after crisis core but thats handheld

Much of the hype, like with the Original FFXIII comes from the character design and themes. Before we knew anything about FFXIII, many were hyping it on the basis of the new cool female lead, and her supposed powers.

Same thing with FFXIII, however, for me the character is a put off. I grow tired of playing as a fangirls wet, emo dream.

Like the guy prevously said, he looks like Sasuke, and sasuke is the biggest cry baby emo, fangirls wet dream ever.

We know it has a much darker tone than Final Fantasy XIII. It is made by the Kingdom Hearts team and directed by Tetsuya Nomura, in which he stated it would move away from his light and magical aesthetic of his past games, in order to opt for the darker theme. The game is focussed around Noctis Lucis Caelum who is the heir to a dynasty that rules one of the last city to control crystals. Apparently the story begins just after a long Cold War revolving around the crystals.

Apparently it will use a more realistic version of the Kingdom Hearts battle system.

This is one aspect i am looking forward to. I miss the world maps of the older RPG games.

Because it's exclusive OR they don't like RPGs OR they liked KH and what not.

You're confused with the other consoles.

The premise of Versus XIII is way more compelling to me. Looks like a cross between Final Fantasy and Yakuza. But I won't go around preaching about the game until I have seen some gameplay footage.

I know what emo is. I'm about the opposite end of the scale from emo. Chances are the definition of emo doesn't translate over to Japan. If you look at the popular styles in japan you will see it.

Also the protagonist is wearing a very sharp suit. Does that fit inthe emo trend aswell?

Also I have a 360 and PS3 and I'm more interested in Versus so I don't think it has anything to do with exclusivity or at least for me

Hmmm, so I like the look of Final Fantasy Vs XIII, depicted by my sig, therefore I am emo?I was a jock throughout high school (for lack of a better term), and compete competitively in sports throughout uni. That doesn't fall into the "emo" stereotype.

The style of the main character fits much more in line with the popular styles in Japan, and what is considered to be attractive there. Eastern culture is very different from our own.

Looking foreward to both.

Final Fantasy as a whole is inconsistent in quality, I like some of those games and dislike others. I don't know much about this one though.

Heres my 3 reasons. Male lead. Im sorry its who I am. I just dont like playing female lead roles all that much. Its made by the people who made KH and thats enough for a second reason. Lastly I really like the tone of the game.

It's absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Versus is still exclusive while XIII isn't. No, nope, no way in hell does that have anything to do with it, absolutely no way. But there are people who legitimately preferred it from the start.Floppy_Jim

While the most likely reason is probably because it's still exclusive, some people may prefer Action RPGs over Turnbased.

The style over there is in fact very different to emo over here. Emo here is denoted through music and the style that came into play afterwards, which is usuall tight shirts, tight jeans, long bangs died black and brushed to one side of the face, canvas sneakers or skate shoes etc. Just because the style of hair which can be considered popular, although in a slightly different way in Japan, is there, does not mean they are emo. They are two very different cultures and using our labels for them does not work.

You are labelling something that is eastern oriented with a western label. Doesn't work like that, as the cultures are worlds apart.

This ****of hair is popular in Japan, among teens. However it cannot be connoted as Emo using our labelling. It doesn't work.

Anyways i'm done arguing. If you think it's emo then good for you.
