I know, I think that getting the card mods/item modsoff of the GFs makesit become dramatically easier. The islands of Heaven and Hell are great for training too.

ActicEdge

Their very good It's almost necessary in order to beat ultimacia and Omega weapon you need the 100 heroe's from squalls card. and the 10 holy wars from lagunas

I beat Omega with Rinoa and invincible moon :P No hereos or holy wars. As for Ultimacia (should this be spoilered???) I ripped her up rather easily without any invinsbilty. LionHearts and Shotgun ammo got the job done rather quickly lol.

Dude I had it so hard with her. I mistakenly leveled everyone upto a 100. But man god bless for being able to be omega without that stuff. FF8 was my first RPG so I got a players guide and did everything by the book.

Doesn't FF7 look really bad on an HDTV...? I hear people are enjoy the game on their PS3, but I can't imagine how bad it would look.

stereointegrity

it was a PS1 game? it looked bad to begin with so what would the difference from then to now be? no gamer during the PS1 era cared about graphics and what they looked liek it was all about story and game play

you're missing the point. I know it's a PS1 game. I played it for the first time after I beat FFX and still really liked the game. I'm just asking for the people who downloaded it off PSN. They left it exactly the same right?

I see, generally speaking I only started playing RPGs recently so besides Pokemon, FF3 DS was technically my first lol. Beating Omega though was a nightmare. Constantly wanted to throw my controller. I had 3 lionhearts on it and still lost, I was going nuts. I think I could do it now without too much trouble but Damn that was a pain. Almost worse than Ruby from 7. That made me want to punch a baby lol. And the Iron Giant from 3 DS? Still haven't beaten that one either lol.

Emerald I found extremely easy. Ruby however was just ridiculous for me, everytime I mimicked Ultimate End I got Ultima spat in my face, arghhh. I couldn't stand that lol, I would get close and then just screw up at the end. Also, I like 3 lol. Obviously its not as good as the others (some may argue worst in series) but I enjoyed the old school play and difficult as well as the end game. (though the crystal tower is just punishing, coloured dragons, 4 guardians and the Cloud with no save points, who thought that was a good idea lol)

It's good to see the best FF getting the attention it deserves off newer audiences as well as old alike.

Final Fantasy III DS is one of the worst games I've ever played. It is downright awful, and the strategy is so minimal aside from a few key aspects that every JRPG uses (alignment, weapons, armor, and such). The game is one long grind, and I can't believe I spent over 20 hours playing that garbage. If you want more details, just check out my review. Final Fantassy XII, I did not like, either. For awhile, I thought the series was the most overrated one, ever... Then I tried X, and fell in love with it. It's my favorite PS2 game (better than God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Jak and Daxter, and such), and was an absolute blast for the 50+ hours I put in to it. I would go and buy VII right now, but I am busy with Valkyria Chronicles right now (disappointing). I also don't want them to announce a remake right after I beat the game, because I might as well play the superior version. I'll probably pick up Xenogears, though, since I don't really see them remaking that game any time soon.

Wow, nice. I'm one of those people who downloaded it :P. It's the only FF game I don't have on disc anymore. I think this could go to show the selling power of a FF7 remake.

The pre-rendered enviroments look pretty nice actually. But anything in-game (like the combat) looks bad, to be expected though.

Even if it were released as a CD, i dont think it would hade made over 3M in 1 day and around ~4.5M after just 1 week on the market....

What's your point? The game sold 10 million copies, it doesn't need to break any records or outsell Halo.

^this, and halo 3 isnt a digital downloadable game

I honestly disagree because it seems that you went into FF 3 DS with the idea that it would compare to newer games. It won't, its an NES game with a fresh coat of paint. I expected that so everything else kinda just felt natural though I'm not up for a debate right now honestly. I hated 12 though from what I played and the charaters in 10 turn me away from it but anyway, how on earth do you call a series with as many games as FF overated after playing just 2?

If you're not a complete graphics whore and can appreciate the aged visuals, play it. I changed the screen mode to "normal" (4:3), I'm replaying it on a 51" HDTV. I'm fine with that. Though it does look great on a PSP if you have one.

Why bother even playing Final Fantasy III DS in this day and age when there are so many better JRPGs you can play? There's absolutely no reason, unless you want to revisit your childhood. I shouldn't lower my standards for a game just because it sucks. X had archetypal characters, and they had good character developement. Not sure why a game like Valkyria Chronicles doesn't get as many complaints for its story, even though it is boring, cliched, and generic as ****. It seems like the name "Final Fantasy" automatically makes it worse than a niche game, even though Valkyria Chronicles is inferior in almost every way. I meant to say, "I was starting to think it was overrated." I still wasn't sure, and needed a standard Final Fantasy game. III DS was too old, and XII was too different from the rest of the pack. From my understanding, X was similar to the highly acclaimed games (IV, VI, VII, VIII, and IX).

Why can't I play 3 and all the other JRPGs? Also, why the hell do you think you get off telling me or anyone else why we should play what we want? Don't bother responding to me withposts like this, I can't even be botheredto acknowledge people who post like this. No one asked you to lower your standards, its not my problem if you enter remakes of NES era RPGs with the thought that its gonna be as refined as newer ones. As for VC, I haven't played it so I have no commet. But here's a thought, unlike FF 7, 8, 5, etc (not listing any I didn't play) FF 3 offered me tough as nails gameplay that forced you to be prepared when you were in battle. If you weren't observent or prepared, the game would mess you up and I appreciated the old school feel, the difficulty, simplicity, and lean plot. Unlike 7-10 and 12, minimal story made it easy for multiple play throughs since there wasn't much of the same BS to wade through. The game had great music and slick graphics as well. Its not perfect but it was worth the play to me and I have no regrets playing it. Its no where near one of the worse games I've played, I've waded through pure **** games before and had some fun. Maybe my standars are just more relaxed than yours, or you are too uptight about them, who knows.

As much as I respect you, I truly hope hope SE doesn't listen to you. The budget for an FF7 remake would be huge, it could basically fund like 3 new games. I'd rather have 3 new games from the rather lacklustre SE right now than a remake of a game that is in 10 milllion gamers hands already.

[QUOTE="TREAL_Since"]--- And to think, this is without television advertising. --- If they remake Final Fantasy VII with just PS2 graphics it would sell % million + copies! --- FFVII remake pleeeaaase.ActicEdge

--- Making 3 new games would be much more expensive depending on the quality of the games. Final Fantasy VII already has a concept, a world, characters, battle system, and a story. Of course there would be revisions and additions to the game if it were remade. I honestly believe it will be less of an effort than 3 new sub-par titles. Not to mention, a remake would most likely sell more. --- Now if you said ONE new epic game from SquareEnix that would definitely be better IMO. I would rather have a FFVII remake over 3 new games from the less talented Square of today. Especially if said games were to share the budget of ONE remake. A new Chrono game would be amazing :). --- We've already had new games this generation from SquareEnix: Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant. I'm sure millions of people would rather have a remake of FFVII than more titles like IU and TLR. Square themselves mentioned they would like to do a remake if time permitted. At that time they were busy with TLR, IU, and FF13 projects.

It's great for people like myself that this game was re-released on the PSN because I never got to experince it on my PS and I could never find a copy after that. Good stuff.

Well, I never mentioned any platforms ;) Could easily be DS/PSP games of high quality. As far as selling more, I quite honestly don't think its sales are relevant, all FF games will make there money back and then some. Its the nature of the franchise, the sales would only be an indication that SE doesn't have to put quality people on new games since they can just have them do remakes and make more bank. The real fact is, the millions of people who want an FF 7 remake already have and or have played it, they really don't need to experience it again since this is SE we are talking about and the down side will far out way the benefits for everyone when its released and sells millions.

1.) Ahh... DS and PSP would be different than 3 new console games. I don't play on my hand helds anymore. Maybe it's the small ass screens. I definitely understand your point though :). 2.) Sales are definitely relevant to any company. Square knows the selling power of Final Fantasy. But for us as gamers, sales are moot. 3.) Honestly... I believe *you* may not want to experience it again :(. There are millions of people who would buy it. I don't have a crystal ball, but I'm pretty sure of it ;). 4.) If it were remade it would be multiplat for PS3 and 360, maybe even the Wii. This would expand it's appeal to new people who haven't played it yet, as well as satisfy existing fans. Remember, gaming is always reeling in new enthusiasts. It's growth and appeal isn't stagnant. Very similar to Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes on GCUBE (I'm sure a FF7 remake would be much bigger though).

I see relevant reasons pointing to the decision of a remake or new game(s). I'd just rather have a remake :P.

True, a lot of my bitterness stems from the fact that SE has been port/remake happy lately and there original content has been lacking lol. I jnow a lot of people want to experience it with fancied up presentation but screw them, this is madness :P No but again, I know what you mean, I'm just bitter. I would hope an FF 7 360 / PS3 remake stayed true to the original if it did happen though (ie, W item duplication glitch etc). If it did happen, maybe more people in the west would be more inclined to try more JRPGs which would be good.

For those who can't do the math that's roughly $999,000 in sales.

If by difficulty, you mean needlessly grinding your way up to a high enough level in order to fight enemies, then sure, III DS is hard. There's so little strategy involved that you have to grind in order to beat some of the higher bosses. Is that fun? Grinding? At least in X, you don't have to grind at all, and can even skip battles if you feel the game is going smoothly for you. I hate how outdated old school games like Final Fantasy III DS can get good review scores, even though they suck in every conceiveable way.

Agreed. FF7 is such an amazing game- truly a classic. I can't think of a game other than OOT that is even close to as compelling as Final Fantasy VII.

Then why would you enter a thread and post about it... you obviously care

Or I simply wanted to voice my opinion?

Nah, that cant be it...

Actually, you voiced your lack of an opinion about VII... just sayin':P

I'm a little surprised that it did not sell more... Truthfully I have the Original, so I have yet to buy it, but I'm going to before I got Off to College so I can put it on my PSP... I don't know if I'm taking my PS3 yet, but I'm defently taking my PSP...

This should have been done awhile ago..... owell.

Maybe S-E will gain some sense and develop an exclusive JRPG (besides Versus XIII) for the PS3. Where art thou Last Remnant port sheesh.

ActicEdge

Why exclusive? Wouldn't multiplat make more sense?

I hear ya... I don't give a hoot if everyone and their mom can play it, I just want in on the SE love....

Doesn't FF7 look really bad on an HDTV...? I hear people are enjoy the game on their PS3, but I can't imagine how bad it would look.

mD-

it was a PS1 game? it looked bad to begin with so what would the difference from then to now be? no gamer during the PS1 era cared about graphics and what they looked liek it was all about story and game play

you're missing the point. I know it's a PS1 game. I played it for the first time after I beat FFX and still really liked the game. I'm just asking for the people who downloaded it off PSN. They left it exactly the same right?

I got it as soon as it came out and yeah, it's exactly the same. I haven't played it on my HDTV yet, I've been using my PSP for it. Looks fine on that size screen anyhow lol.

I bought and put it on my PSP :) I still adore it. I was 11 when I first played it and its the only game from the 90's that I've felt has grown with me. Every time I play it I see things in a different way and relate to different characters more. For example, this time I felt really bad for Aeries. It never really hit me that hard before.

i gotta admit its pretty impressive especially for a PS1 re-release hopefully it prompts them to do FFVIII cause i dont own it wouldnt be as bothered cause i own IX :P.

But its well worth £8 i admit had more fun with FFVII than i have with any recent games i have bought for £40 which is saying something.
