For that, I was referring to videos I remember watching on old PS1 games like Twisted Metal. Where David Jaffe was explaining that 3d maps never came out as good as the concept art. And that was because of limited hardware. This is also true for many developers at the time too. I also remember Ed Boon in an MK vid saying that he always intended MK1,2 and 3 to be one game. And that there were many characters they chose to cut out because they didn't look right in gameplay.
The original Final Fantasy VII had textureless 3d models and pre rendered back drops instead of full 3d maps. Do you really believe that the developers were 100% happy with that? Obviously they were proud of finishing Final Fantasy VII but being real here, it did have quite a number of flaws that we chose to overlook. Even though they were satisfied, they were still aware that there many ways that FFVII could've been better.
*The writing was sub par. (Even I was aware of this as a kid. But this might've been a localization issue.)
*The 3d parts were textureless, (there were better looking 3d games at the time)
*None of it was voiced. (Mostly due to storage limitations but it was also common for jrpgs at that era.)
*The fights were incredibly slow and under 30 fps due to the PS1's weak processing power. (PC version runs faster)
*The music was in MIDI format instead of full mp3 quality.
*The world was presented in pre-rendered 3d images that you walked on. (There were also plenty of full 3d games at the time. So again, that was to save disc memory.)
That's what makes these remakes so badass! It's like they get a 2nd chance to do things that they couldn't do before! And also, because Square Enix hasn't made a road map of FFVIIR, it *is* also conjecture on your end to assume that it will end exclusively on next gen.
