I heard from my uncle from Playstation that a FF VIII and IX was in the works, just sayin'
TBH, I have to say it, SE is going a little too far annoucing these games way out of their release date! Why don't they finish FFXV, then start on FFVII Remake, and then work on FFXII Remaster. Hell, I rather have them scrap VII and XII remake and focus on FFXVI
The fact that the word remake is in quotation marks makes me think that this is just going a remaster (that, and it would be a little much to be working on another FF remake when they already have the FFVII remake on their hands)
Assuming that is true, making FFXII prettier isn't going to make the game anymore fun for me.
This is hardly confirmation lol.
But yeah, I welcome it. Best Final Fantasy alongside V and one of the GOAT RPGs

A little? They are fucking terrible at managing their projects.
All this is going to do is remind the people gassing up FF12 that oh right FF12 wasn't that legit, and the frauds that jumped on the FF12 bandwagon that oh, this game is actually not all that great. It's a good and out of their comfort zone game from Square, but it looks better than it actually does in the context of modern FF games.
How does it feel to be wrong, champ?
You people like a game where the core mechanic is hit shit with sword, and it's like those totally lifeless, feathery, devoid of any feed back shit, with borderline MMO chore fest quests that could not be more fucking tedious, and you're all excited way, because the international version makes the license system actually good?
Mate it's a fine game, but this monkey love this forum has had for that game is like one riddled with some serious blinders to the sheer fact that the core mechanics suck under any scrutiny.

Sure, the core mechanics suck, but the core mechanics in other Final Fantasy games also similarly 'suck.'
I mean hell, people won't stop yapping about Final Fantasy X's core systems, where the battle system is literally a regular turn based battle system with a chart showing you who attacks when, and the Sphere Grid is a glorified leveling up screen that gives an impression of custom builds, but leads to linear ass leveling and builds anyway, even on the Expert Mode.
It's about the moment to moment gameplay, and Final Fantasy XII did that exceedingly well. That's why it gets the love.

No they don't, the better ones had turn based combat systems with design built around those turn based engines. Be it the job system, meters you had to take into account, micromanaging tyhe entire party, actually using your different spells and traits for the most efficient results.
So no "mechanically" FF5 isn't poor. "they get too easy"...that's not a mechanics issue, that's pacing and balance.
FF12 is a core mechanical thing. Like the basic thing you do which is fine that they took FF and made more of action RPG, it's just that wildly superior combat engines exist that do it while being a "RPG" and don't resort to shitty ass fetch quests to pad out some game length (okay that last part isn't completely true, but they don't do it nearly to the extent of FF12). FF12 is almost entirely saved by the variation to character builds, which is fine, it's admirable, but when the core thing you are doing is actually poor, that's not exactly some excellent game, it's actually every bit the disappointment some of the other modern FF games are. Albeit not as shitty as FF13 (because it basically has no battle system) and sure, I'd rather play it than FFX, but honestly replaying FFX, I'd probably a lot of other games than FFX from that era, from that franchise, from that company than FFX.
I'm with you on the Persona love chaz, even with Aljosa on the Nocturne love. But FF12? It's fine, but lets relax here yah like a game that looks better than it actually is, because modern Square sucks outside of The World Ends With You.
If this is real hopefully on Vita, actually really liked XII but sadly never finished it, got close a couple times... Maybe a Vita version would get finished
Do want. A remaster, presumably.

Good deal, I enjoyed Final Fantasy XII.
Dragon Quest XI, Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy VII, Persona 5, Final Fantasy XII, Disgaea 5, Tales of Zestiria, Tales of Bersaria, Star Ocean, and Kingdom Hearts 3, good times for jrpg fans.
I'd like to see MS make Lost Odyssey 2 also. It was a really good game. Didn't care for Blue Dragon very much though. Make it happen MS.
FFXII actually has the best combat system in the series. The real-time gambit system is a lot of fun to tinker around with and is very fast-paced.
I still think the 13 series is one of the best combat systems in the series.

I enjoyed FFXIII's combat as well. FFXIII-2's wasn't bad either with monsters fighting along side you, but I didn't like FFXIII-3 with just Lightning fighting alone.
Never understood the praise surrounding 12 around here, except for assuming a lot of you are too young to know better. :P
Don't get me wrong, it's a fine game but a distant also ran in the list of main series titles. and the biggest reason it's getting a rerelease is it doesn't take much work to do. Like the X reissue, but with a worse game.
Most of you would do better by dropping your obstinate positions and actually playing through XIII instead. It's a comparably flawed entry overall, but at least has a standout combat system. XII was a dumbed down XI for those scared of MMOs with a largely forgettable cast trudging through a story so cliched you can make an argument for it ripping off anyone of a dozen movies.

With the exception of the battle system, I think that XII has a lot more going for it than XIII.
@Blabadon: For me FF12 was the start of the downfall for FF series .... It really felt back then like a very mediocre MMORPG single player experience ... I was one of the biggest fans ever yet FF12 was the very first game in the series that made me so bored , i never finished it !
So if this game gets a remake .... Ill think it very seriously to buy it ... no , to even try it .

In fact is one of the main reasons why many fans , including me , bashed the game all over the place ... How you calling that fun is beyond me
Hopefully a remaster of FFXII will be early in the pipeline. I'm growing exhausted of games being announced too early.
I'll be there day 1 to buy this though. One of my favorite games of all time and I've been waiting for this to come.
Amen to that, holy crap if this is true I'll give SE my money right now.

Indeed.
Story of FF XII saved the game imo. I loved the politics.
@AzatiS: Because he finds it fun.
Good for him but majority begs to differ .. If something needs to get praised from FF12 .. is something or everything than its core battle mechanics.
This obsession with Japanese developers to try so hard to " Westernize " their games with way more action elements in their original/traditional formulas , is one of the reasons why many great franchises failing as we speak ( not necessarily on scores or sales , you get what i mean ) and imho why Japanese console market as a whole is becoming sore. Let alone why many companies having half of the success they had.
Thats the feeling im getting overall and FF12 is a fine example despite its initial scores left and right ( and i got plenty of other examples ) or if minority had fun with its gameplay.

Yep, although some wester inspired "JRPG's" like the souls games and dragon's dogma are doing it right.
And I'm concerned about the FF VII remake...I wonder how they're going to butcher that game...

Souls started as a new IP with certain gameplay elements from the very first title ... and they keeping that formula as we speak. Now imagine for souls games after a while to go ... turned-based fights to copy-paste the traditional JRPGs ... You think itll work ? It might for some , majority of fans of Souls games though ... will get upset despite scores or sales or whatever. Thats what im trying to say.
Im concerned too about ff7 because ive finished the original more than 7 times since its release .. Its gameplay mechanics and elements got into me too hard ... and i dont know if ill like a remake with a FF7 theme playing like FF13 , being super linear and focus on action alone ( or way more than RPG elements and tactics etc ) ... So lets pray bro ! Lets hope this wont be the case for SE to butcher that title.

Can I ask why? The game isn't that old.
FF XII must have been the first FF for some of you. Anyway, I find it odd they are "remaking" this and not VIII or IX.

I don't give a damn about what any majority thinks, to me it was a breath of fresh air. The gambit system to me was kind of like making adjustments to an engine, and once you got it humming properly, it purred like a kitten. Finding the right combination in the right order for a particular enemy felt quite rewarding to me personally.
I agree with you about the Westernization part, and FFXII felt like it did go out of the way to feel more like that than any previous FF main entry, but it was still a very enjoyable game imo. The open world adventure elements were fantastic. You could run in to a very over-powered enemy and get your clocks cleaned if you weren't careful.
I also enjoyed the musical score a lot in this game. The story wasn't terrible, but the pacing of it was bad and suffered due to the open world and lengthy times in-between the progress of it.
I'd love a remaster.
