Final Fantasy XII remake confirmed!

They announced FFX remaster then released it 3 years later. how long a remake is gonna take?

Why have I been waiting for this to come? Well the FFX remaster was a thing for a while there, and then got a PS4 version. I enjoyed FFX a lot, but it was FFXII that stuck around for me.

And why would I want a remaster at all? I still have my PS2 copy and my PS2 runs fine, but I don't have a SDTV anymore. And I'd love the visuals in HD and the audio upscaled as well. I find the art direction of FFXII wonderful so I'm really wanting that all in HD. Furthermore, I'm guessing an HD remaster would be of the International game; it wasn't something that I desperately wanted like KH2: Final Mix+ but I knew that there were aspects that were improved in the game. Lastly, if it's on PS4 (or if Square-Enix follows suit with FFX) I can use either Remote Play from a PS4 version and still play it while watching stuff, or I could purchase a Vita version and play it wherever. Sounds nice to me.

Those are just the quick rambled thoughts laid out, probably not in a very coherent fashion. :P

More than likely a remaster, which is fine because FFXII looks stunning even with a bump in resolution/AA/AF. However, International Edition or bust.

Yes! I really enjoyed that game, actually. It made great use of the DS.

Hopefully they balance out some of the jobs because half of them are kind of useless. I actually like the vanilla version more than the international version being that the job restrictions in Zodiac felt out of place and locked you away from so many customization options which goes against the whole free combat system that the gambit system reinforces.

Anyways day one on whatever system it releases, I have far too much love for this game.

Well, I guess it's better than the time it takes for actual new FF titles to come out.

The Souls and Dragon's Dogma games didn't really "Westernize" though. Most of the things that make them stand out, from the precision-based hack & slash combat mechanics and Monster Hunter style bosses, to the Metroidvania-style level designs and inventories, to the unforgiving arcade-style difficulty and survival horror style atmosphere, are distinctly Japanese game design elements. What made them unique are their mostly Japanese game design philosophy.

On the other hand, when Japanese developers really do try too hard to "Westernize", then the result is usually something like RE6, which tried hard to be Western-style TPS and failed at it. But when a Japanese developer designed TPS games that had distinctly Japanese game design philosophy, then the results were RE4 and Vanquish, some of the most original and best TPS games ever made.

This game will not need much... widescreen and a high resolution with a touch of texture will do wonders. Its already spilling with content.

Composer apologised for the word 'remake' so maybe we can assume it's a remaster which I think most people expected anyway.

I'd love a remaster of this game. The PS2 version looks like shit on my HDTV lol.

Besides liking the Gambit system in that game, I don't see a single reason why this game needs to be remade. A remaster of it on pc or other modern machines maybe could be financially worth it but I still don't see the need. I don't want shit I've all ready played (Story in this one was horrible, yet still better then 13) I want new stories, new characters, not games from the generation of Final fantasy that added people with bunny ears, and turned the series into a giant sci-fi shit fest.

Remaster? Hell I'll still buy it. 1080p at 60fps with a touch of textures? Day 1.

With Square Enix we might as well get used to it... they seem to like to announce everything 7 years too early.

Also yes, This game is amazing, and I still don't get why it's not as popular as some of the other heavyweights in the franchise.

@ianhh6: Maybe it's the shirtless dude that looks like a girl. Or the 80% nude bunny people that look ridiculous. Or the horrible story that comes off as some bad anime inspired sci-fi medieval shit fest? FF hasn't felt like what I considered Final fantasy to be since 10.

This is the only FF I haven't beaten, or played at all for that matter and I'm not about to buy a ps2 so this is really exciting to me.

It was new and exciting for me too when I gave it a try on the PS2. It helped me understand the (quite similar) tactics in the Dragon Age games nearly 8 years later.
