Final Fantasy XIII Sells 1 Million on First Day

According to Yahoo Japan, Final Fantasy XIII has sold more than 1 million copies on its launch day in Japan. That figure does not include the system bundles, which is rumored to be 200K units shipped. The RPG was released in that region as a Playstation 3 exclusive on December 17th. Square Enix managed to ship 1.8 million copies to retail stores.

Final Fantasy XIII will be released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 9, 2010.

Anyway, if what is reported is true then my prediction that it sold at least one million copies was correct.

It needs to sell ~2.0 million in order for square enix even to make games on playstation 3.

Like I said it needs to sell 1.6 million in order for square enix to make more games for playstation 3. Assuming that 100-150k bundles sold (which isn't unlikely). The number is roughly at 1,150k. So it needs 450k in order for square enix to make more playstation 3 games.

Actually ignore that. If a game is built on ps3, it will most likely have an xbox 360 release. So expect much more xbox 360/ps3 games like this.

I'll wait till some official numbers come out, but it was expected for FFXIII to sell like crazy specially in Japan..

What's the 360's LTD sales in Japan anyway? I remember there was a lot of talk when it finally sold 1 million consoles there a while back.

Thats incredible 25% of ps3 owners in japan picked this up Day 1.

There prolly hasn't been that large of an attach rate for a game in years.

Regardless of how well it's being received in the west, Final Fantasy fans are busy complaining that there are no towns ... when it's been confirmed that there were towns since before it's release and two of them are shown on the website.

lol it's already best selling jRPG for HD consoles in only one day and in only one country. So gz Squere Enix ;)
