Then you're either lieing or ATI cards work different. Look around on the internet. Nvidia 60 and 70 family cards CAN NOT run HDR and AA at the same time.

That doesn't point to you needing a new video card?

Absolutely not, because I do not need HDR and AA at the same time.

So now you don't need something because your rig can't do it? You're a real piece of work...

I don't need something because I don't need it. Without both of them at the same time I'm still getting graphics far superior to anything consoles can even provide and im running the game at medium-high settings at a constant 35FPS. I think I'm doing swimmingly.

Yet this entire thread was about a 450 dollar PC that could supposedly do all of that...silly me.

This thread was not about having a PC that could play Crysis with both HDR and AA. It was about a rig that could play all the games at relatively high settings, which these rigs can do.

No, the TC said the computer could "max" every game out except Crysis; and the game still being at a playable framerate...i seriously doubt it could even do that.

And it looks like you forgot what his rig had in it. A 80 family series card, which CAN run HDR and AA at the same time. His rig CAN run everything maxed out.

And 8800GT at that. DIfference of opinions. I'll agree to disagree, on both topics.

its not a difference of opinions. The 8800GT has the capacity to max the game out. But even then, maxing out isn't even required to completely patty sack consoles. Heck, medium-high is more than enough to patty sack consoles.

446 = 886 US... another pc gaming is cheap failiurerevolution2k6

ok then 40gb ps3 is $630 800nzd=630usd

Here is a few things that PC fanboys fail to comprehend:

1) That price is not the price to go out and buy a brand new gaming PC. That is the price to upgrade an existing PC. When console fanboys say a gaming PC costs thousands of dollars, they are talking about going to the store and buying a complete unit, just like they would do for a console.

2) You openly admit yourself that not only is that MORE than a console, but it will last roughly 18 months. Then what? A console lasts for roughly 5 years on average.

3) People who are willing to wait for console price drops are able to still jump in and have the exact same gaming experience as someone who waitied in line at launch. They aren't going to be left behind, unlike with PCs.

4) People just like the ease of buying a console and not worrying about it. I know that is why I have always been a console gamer but my PC gaming quickly died off as my PC aged.

5) Meanwhile, people who talk about cheap PCs always do the work to shop around and hunt down obscure stores with cheap prices that the average joe has never heard of. If someone like me who doesn't worship the PC WERE to go out and upgrade...they are going to go to a store and buy the product off the shelf. Which is giong to cost more than all these obscure discount PC part stores.

So basically, what PC fanboys fail to understand is that most people just don't care. You can praise the PC all day, you can act like it is the way of the future and that PC games are practically the borg compared to consoles. Nobody cares. Why? Because for more and more people, it just isn't worth the time and effort to play that one FPS or RTS that will use the maxed out specs.

Meanwhile, you still don't touch on the fact that consoles just offer a more well-rounded gaming experience for all ages and all audiences. Sure, PC gamers will disagree. Nothing is ever superior to the PC! But console gaming is more popular lately and is still growing. Meanwhile, they are slowly closing the gap on PCs much like they did to arcades in the late 90s. That's not to say PC gaming doesn't have its place. that place is just becoming more niche as people stop caring about the constant hassle of PC upgrading and only the hardcore PC fans continue to love the micromanaging.

ZIMdoom

he has incluuded everything you need to get a working system, yes I know it cost $$$$$$ to buy a gaming pc from the store but you should never buy a pc from hp, acer etc unless you want over priced under powered hardware

that pc will easily last till the end of the console gen with console graphics so what if a new pc that costs less and has more power than an older one, if you want the latest and greatest you have to upgrade but to match consoles and buget rig will do just fine.

x360s get rrod and have to wait 2 weeks to get it fixed pcs just work and for years with no problems. the x360 is a disaster waiting to happen. pc gaming is growing 8800gt was sold out everywhere for months after its launch, now its the same story with the intel e8400 and those aren't bought for web browsing, pc games sales are all going digitly and aren't tracked

This PC, will run crysis on high and at a decent resolution above what consoles tend to run at.

lowe0

Like hell it will. I have a better PC than that (C2D 2.67, 8800GT, Vista x64), and Crysis doesn't run on high at 1280x1024 without SERIOUS framerate issues. It's fine on medium, but choppy on high, especially when the post-processing kicks up (after an explosion, for instance).

I think vista x64 is your problem I can run it high with a e8200 and 8800gt fine on xp

[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"]What about WIFI? What about the screen? What about the sound card/speakers? What about a whole bunch of things you forgot to mention?xsubtownerx

If you want me to add a wifi card its not really going to change the price much.

The motherboard has 8-channel on board sound!

Speakers, do you get speakers with your console?

Do you get a monitor, TV or HDTV with your console?

No. But I can plug my console to any TV that has speakers. Cannot do that with a PC. Thus why you must include that in the price.

wrong any tv you can plug a console into you can plug a pc into

OK, here is the cheapest rig I can build with everything included that kicksass against any of the consoles. This system is made of good reliable brands, good components and it comes in at £446, which in comparison to a PS3 here in the UK, £300 for the cheapest model!

I'm going to do some more searching and I bet I can do an even better build in the USA as they have even cheaper components!

PC is still expensive, I suggest that only people with money to burn get one. Otherwise get a console, it will be cheaper and you won't have to upgrade in 18 months.

but you have to buy a dual shock 3 when it comes out, the elite then the new blue controler then the play and charge kit then the $50 a year for xbl then an extra $20 per game or and extra $50 here in nz since you have to buy them at the shop and can't get them cheap on steam. And a pc with a pentium dual core e2160 and 2gb ram and 8600gt will beat consoles today or in 2011, it might not max out every game but console can't either, you olny have to upgrade if you want more than consoles can do

Why would I want to spend hours learning how to build a PC when I can just go to the store, buy a 360, and have most of the PC's best games playable right there for $349?

If buying from newegg is so cheap why does dell do so well? Here's the answer. People are too lazy to do the research. Oh hey the answer to your question is also right below your post.

That's great. Where's your HDTV with that purchase? $800 includes monitor. Oh and without using a HDTV you aren't getting the most out of your console. I am getting the msot out of my PC. Also it's nice to know you get the best PC games lol. it's actually the opposite way around incase you didn't know.

The HDTV was purchased for movies. If video games didn't exist, we would still have the TV. Thus it is not relevant to the price of the console, much like how your monthly internet bill is not included in the price of your PC.

? Sorry but what's stopping me from using hooking up my PC to my TV? Should we throw off the cost of that then? Also the monthly net build won't be included in t e price of your 360 either. But oh wait. The fee for live is. The more expensive games are. DLC costs money, Wifi costs money, the harddrive costs a STUPID amount of money. See where I am going with this?

Also looking at the PC's best games of the last 2 years. Best game of 2006, Elder Scrolls IV. Best game of 2007: Call of Duty 4. I can play those games on my 360 for half the price.

[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"]Again, if PCs are so damn awesome, why do consoles sell so well? Yeah..jangojay

If buying from newegg is so cheap why does dell do so well? Here's the answer. People are too lazy to do the research. Oh hey the answer to your question is also right below your post.

Being lazy has nothing to do with it. Twp things PCs lack: Comfort and conveniance.

Clearly I prefer spending $349 vs $800.

That's great. Where's your HDTV with that purchase? $800 includes monitor. Oh and without using a HDTV you aren't getting the most out of your console. I am getting the msot out of my PC.

And did you include the price of having to upgrade your PC if you want to play games at their maximum performance? The PC listed in this thread would not play Assassin's Creed on max settings.

Furthermore, most of the things you listed are just random things that one "could" spend money on but most likely never will. Wi-fi? No thanks, I'll just plug my console in, especially since the router is 5 feet from the console... Harddrive? It comes with the system... DLC? Well it's a nice option to have, I personally have not spent a dime on any game updates so it doesn't affect me. More expensive games? Where I live, new PC games are $60, new 360 games are $60. Fee for live? $4/month, my 13 year old brother is finding it a joke to pay for this with his allowance, clearly the cost is immaterial.

Comfort and convience? Let me ask you something, what sort of PC are you on? A custom or prebuilt machine? Convience from prebuilt machines will give you an inferior PC to what you could have had if you done it yourself. You could have easily bought the parts and had someone assemble them for LESS than a prebuilt machine, if you didn't really want build it yourself.

The pc in this thread cannot play assassins creed at max? Why is that?I'll just ask you since you have such knowledge about the subject.

Also unlike you many people do not have routers next to thier TVS, PC games and 360 games are the same cost? Where do you live exactly? The DLC from games on a x360 I get free with my PC and I don't have to pay for online. Also let me add in another cost. The HD drive for the 360s.

I sold my PC and got a laptop, but that isn't the point. I meant comfort and conveniance as in, I'm on a couch playing games on a nice HDTV in my living room. Not some cramped up area, hunched over on a desk.

You think its that easy for a person that knows nothing about PC's. I once wanted to build a PC but in order to do that it takes more than a little research. It actually pretty confusing. And picking the parts is the hardest part of all. I tried learning how to build a PC but its just to damn confusing so dont make it seem so easy when its not. I still dont understand why theres no harddrive on the TC's rig.

I totally agree, how the hell is sitting over hunched on your computer comfortable and convieniant? As of right now I'm in my bed typing on my laptop. PC's will never be as accessible as a console so deal with it bub.

OK, here is the cheapest rig I can build with everything included that kicksass against any of the consoles. This system is made of good reliable brands, good components and it comes in at £446, which in comparison to a PS3 here in the UK, £300 for the cheapest model!

This PC has:

  • Dual Core Processor
  • 4 GB of Ram!!
  • 8800GT!
  • 1 Free Game! (Company of Heros with GPU!)

You cannot argue against this PC, I have included everything and the source I have used, if you purchase the components there they build it for you! There are a lot of places that do this and it must be the same in the US!

This PC, will run crysis on high and at a decent resolution above what consoles tend to run at. It will max just about every game out right now and probably will do for the next 18 months!

Yes, it does come in slightly more than PS3s and Xbox 360 BUT THIS AIMED AT ALL THE CONSOLITES THAT CLAIM A DECENT GAMING PC WILL COST $3000!!

I'm going to do some more searching and I bet I can do an even better build in the USA as they have even cheaper components!

So I want to hear some acknowledgement from the consolites that they are wrong when it comes to their perception of how much PC gaming costs!

Seriously guys, follow the links I have provided for you and you will see this is a kickass PC in everyway!

First of all this doesn't apply to gamers in North America as 446 euros is over 800 dollars here.

Secondly this is the umteenth thread on PC GAMING IS CHEAP OMGGZZZZ OWNZZERZZ THE CONSOLITES! and you hermits have been owned every time so theres no use in continuing the trend.

EPIC FAIL

Do you even understand the concept of owning someone. You thinik that by you, (I mean who are you anyway? lol) to come in and say whether a topic is fail or not. You havent provided a counter arguement! lol You're a joke mate.

First of all, you fail in assuming I'm talking about Euros, if you did a bit of research or better yet, read and comprehend my thread you'll see that I am talking pounds sterling, the currency of the UK. I already stated that it is still more expensive than a console! Man if you actually read what instead of skimming through you really wouldn't own yourself so much lol.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND I AM TRYING TO DISPELL A MYTH THAT A GAMING PC DOES NOT NEED TO COST THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!

Even when you have converted £££ to $$$, it still comes in at well under $1000! That is my point, that is ALL I have said,!

Have I actually said??

  • PC Gaming is better
  • Pwnsz console gaming etc

In a previous post I even acknowledged the merrits of console gaming as I am a big 360 fan myself.

Am I right or wrong in dispelling that myth? Seriously answer that simple question and TAKE TIME TO ACTUALLY READ!

Irrelevant, this thread isnt about accessability, its about proving that PC gaming isnt as expensive as consolites say it is. EPIC FAIL

Yeeaaah. My TV does others things like, play television shows AND movies. Cool huh?
