I think no PC games has rendered the same level of graphics yet.

A PC gamer could respond with "The Samaritan" tech demo Epic made. Its a tech demo and only shows half the story.
While I am looking forward to see what the Wii U can do, im waiting for some real gameplay.
If you think a "tech demo" from dated hardware (most likely) looks better than anything the PC can render yer not a "PC elitist". Anyways, no just no.I am referring to this footage.

Samaritan Tech demo says hi :D (since we're measuring with tech demos apparently)
Blast, someone said it before me! Anyway, a ton of tech demos are pretty as hell, but unusable in games. We still don't use the awesome hair that nvidia tech demo's have had for ~a century.
A pc elitist wouldn't say this.TheGuardian03I am, and I am with a condescending view of consoles. (sub HD twins)
Firstly, that's a tech demo, so it's not a good representation of how games will look running on the system. Secondly, there're Pc games that look better than that, never mind tech demos...
You got it all wrong guys! His argument is valid because he said he's a PC gamer!!!

No, he's a PC elitist... But, for some funny reason, forgot Crytek tech demo...

forget their tech demo, Crysis with the right mods is all it takes.Ughh I knew it would be something like this when I saw your name... does anybody remember that really sweet tech demo for the GC prior to launch? we never saw anything like it in actually gameplay. Anyway Im pretty sure that could be done on my pc, it was very impressive but if current hardware was well optimised it could be done.

If you think a "tech demo" from dated hardware (most likely) looks better than anything the PC can render yer not a "PC elitist". Anyways, no just no. Dated hardware is a little harsh but I can agree for the most part. I love the look of Zelda in the little demo though. This is obviously a tech demo, and although it looks good, I can't help but feel that this is something that could have been shown as a tech demo for older PC GPUs.
And maybe that's not strange, considering the GPU of the WiiU (formerly Café) was supposed to be a Radeon HD 48xx equivalent, which is indeed a three year old card.
It looks good and all, but I think you should watch the tech demos made for current high-end GPUs before you jump the gun.
Nope hasn't been defeated like the other guy that new Unreal Engine Tech demo rapes the WiiUs one then again for a console it looks pretty damn good I wouldn't mind getting a console port from it.
Remember all the Crytec 3 demos?

If only a game could have visuals anywhere near that.
I can't believe this thread exists.
Listen: PC's have and always will be the pinnacle of graphical capabilities.
Witcher 2 looks much better than this even on medium-powered PCs. I don't see anything impressive in that video to be honest.
First of all, OP, you're not a PC elitist. Infact you're usually the one who attacks the platform to stand out from the crowd and pretend to be unique. But putting that aside, that TECH DEMO, looked rubbish. ocstewYeah, I'm fairly certain I saw him bashing the PC numerous times...
For a tech demo it's nothing we haven't seen before. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if WiiU gets the graphics king at least for a little while, it might not be as powerful as the latest PC but it's more likely to get a game fully optimized for it.ManicAceIt won't get a graphics king.

Probably not, but depending on what it has for a GPU, we could see some graphics at 720p that are consistent with many PC games at 1080p. However, I think Nintendo is pushing the system to render 1920 x 1080 native instead of 720p like the other two systems. At least, that's the impression I got from Reggie.

Inconsistancy
The difference between this footage and PC tech demos is that we might be able to see this level of graphics in actual games. Noone will develop a PC game that would work on 580gtx only, because it wouldnt sell enough copies. But when every single Wii U is capable of this, games can be easily optimised to look this good. I mean - remember Killzone 2 footage that wowed everyone in 2005? Killzone 2 actually looked better than that.

Well, they can always put in graphics options, plenty of people wont be maxing BF3, there's no reason Samaritan has to be so pretty for everybody.[QUOTE="BlbecekBobecek"][QUOTE="Inconsistancy"]

If you're coding for one level, than you can be assured that every single game out there will look at its peak. But with multiple settings, you will have to disable crucial aspects of the graphics that might need a lot of work to have switched off and still have the game looking as expected.I am referring to this footage.

AMD Radeon HD 4870 tech demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzquM5Td6bM&feature=related
It's a tech demo. And I didn't see it in its full resolution glory. But place it next to Battlefield 3 ingame footage, and it's not defeating it per se.
And look at the size of that box. I keep saying that because it's telling us something.
Unless they found magic essence that box is either going to be absolutely ridiculously expensive and powerful or going to be a bit expensive and a mini-360 mini-ps3.
