granted no where near the smooth/precise feeling of a game developed for the mouse.....but works pretty well. Yeah yeah...I know,.....it's "cheating".

It's a mouse/keyboard translator. It accepts the mouse input, transforms it to counter the acceleration curves the game applies to the raw analog input, and then spoofs a gamepad to make it appear to the console that the gamepad is actually sending those inputs.I'm a bit confused as to what the XIM3 is exactly.

Terrible news. It's like pitting paraolympic 100m sprinters against Usain Bolt (although the guy in the video is terrible).
So mouse and keyboard = PC?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgRxBwgvPUk

takes it easy lol, it was my first day. (still won every game lol)
not only first day on XIM, but first day on reach since the month it came out. give me two weeks and it'll be a whole different ballgame.
Simply awesome. Desire to FPS MP on console with XIM rising!
Hmmm ... actually, now I could play console shooters ... is the auto-aim still on when you use XIM? That is my biggest problem with console shooters, it feels like the game "grabs" the cursor and moves it for you; very annoying.

Loved the double sniper shot as those guys jumped off the platform.
PWN those noobs up!

Stick to PC shooters.
Mouse = eye movement
Controller = moving a crane, in a very tight spot, with your foreman yelling at you to hurry up
kind of a bummer to think that from now on there will never be an even playing field in online gaming and who wins comes down to what add ons are avalible for sale.
The problem with our society, ladies and gentlemen.[QUOTE="Doolz2024"]
I don't care if it's fair or not.

Agreed, but in this instance I just see it in the same way a PC gamer would buy a 2000dpi mouse vs a ball mouse.
It's not cheating IMO, just using what is available. Same for any sport/activity, better golf clubs, better tuning on a car, better paintball equipment etc.

To be honest there never was equal playing field when it came to online gaming. Varying internet connection made sure of that.

Although turn-based games do get rid of that.

Your opinion doesn't really matter in this case, because it's cheating regardless of it. The fact that the software (Halo) doesn't even support the hardware input, and you need it to have its own software to calibrate the mouse, is enough proof of this.
Honestly? I hope Microsoft allows its usage, that way we'll get games already set up for it. If Microsoft doesn't do it, I just hope it bans people who use XIM3 and other scale-tippers.

I'd rather not play with someone like you, but unfortunately gamertags don't really come with a field for "lacks character and integrity."[QUOTE="lowe0"][QUOTE="Doolz2024"]Do you have a problem?Doolz2024

Why is it cheating regardless? How is it any different than buying a different controller, better internet or larger TV?
The fact that Halo is XIM agnostic is irrelevant, until MS declares its cheating/bannable offense then I see nothing wrong with it. Just using the tech thats available.

Not licensed by MS = cheating.It's not cheating IMO, just using what is available.haberman13Exactly. How is cheating when you're using something that's available for anyone to purchase? It's not like it's an illegal product or anything. Like you said, it's called using what's available. Some people don't like that though, apparently.
[QUOTE="haberman13"]Not licensed by MS = cheating.lowkey254
Really? This is an MS policy?
Sorry, I'm a 360 noob, play on PC primarily; but I'm a huge fan of this, it adds mouse support to console games; controllers being my primarily deterent from playing console FPS.

It isn't licensed by Microsoft. And, supposing that doesn't convince you, you've got to have a s****y definition of fairplay if you're taking a Keyboard + Mouse against people using controllers. It's not their fault you can't use the licensed tool.

This idea exists in almost every single competitive hobby - people tweak/upgrade etc. to get slight advantages. Its huge in PC gaming, and frankly I would love if it came to consoles.

XIM might be the impetus for consoles to become more like PC - until then consoles are stuck with auto-aim and fake competition with artificial limitations.
XIM frees up the controller limitation, and makes "twitch" skills the most determinate factor. With a controller the key skill is "spray-n-pray".

Go watch a Pro match of Halo: Reach and then we'll talk again. In any case, the key-skill to being a good controller-wielding FPS player is to know how to strafe and mantain your gun leveled. Of course, if you actually bothered learning how to use a controller, you'd know that.
Regarding your previous post, going from a controller to a mouse/keyboard isn't a tweak or upgrade. It's a change. It's different from a race where you have Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Mercedes. It's taking a gun to a knife-fight, or racing a bicycle with a motorcycle. Evidently that the difference isn't as large as the example cited, but it's still not the same thing.
This is technically cheating and could you get you banned from Xbox Live.
I was hoping that Reach would actually be on PC so that it would be able to run at its full potential.
