Wow. SotC looks freakin' incredible in HD. I really need to buy this game and figure out how to-This is easily 100 times more epic than what TC posted.

Lol I should I have mentioned it has to be from a game? :PWow..it's terryfing to think that there are gamers who don't know what Wing Commander is.[QUOTE="v13_KiiLtz"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]

Wing Commander IV finale is more epic, because the intellectual confrontation of two giants is far more epic than nicely choreographed fight moves can ever be.

This is a scene from a game.
+1 I did not expect to enter this thread seeing a Wing Commander reference. WC4 had probably the best FMV in game history, which admittedly may not mean much, but it was still an epic game.[QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]Even console gamers should know it. Console gamer not knowing that Wing Commander is would be comparable to PC gamer not knowing what Castlevania is. Yeah I'd say its on the same level of common knowledge. Though the Wing commander games certainly changed to become quite different as they went along, while castlevania is pretty much the same crap now as on NES. Though its kind of in a good way since wing commander obviously got worse. I thought Wing Commander 3 was better than WC1 and WC2 in pretty much every way. WC4 stuck to WC3's basic gameplay and improved the storytelling/FMV, which made it more of the same but not really "worse". I never understood why people complained about the gameplay taking a backseat to the cutscenes (reminds me a bit of the Metal Gear Solid complaints). The cutscenes added to the game's charm and were for the most part essential to presenting a good story and bonding with your crewmates. It was actual rather ahead of its time, I think; the interaction the game had obviously inspired what we've got today in Mass Effect and StarCraft 2.[QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"] You mean non-PC gamers?110million
umm yeah.
isn't there suppose to be more blood :?
Dead-Memories
Agreed. When Liquid pounces on Solid then beating the hell outta the face of him, there's no blood at all. :|
Seems disappointing. Not to mention, I don't know the ESRB rating of that game so.....
That whole Liquid fight sent chills through my spine when I first saw it. Definately the best moment from the game.
As for epic scenes, here are some of my favorites.
COD2-End of the Beginning mission-Why IW can't live up to stuff like this anymore in their campaigns is sad.
Super Castlevania IV Dracula Boss Battle-Even though the game is almost 20 years old, the fact they pulled this off on the SNES is amazing.
I could post some more current stuff, but I figured people would have already posted GOW3 and Uncharted 2 scenes a billion times.
Upparoom
Looks like standard COD formula to me. You should chill with the nostalgia goggles.
Nothing easier than that: Sephiroith vs Angeal and Genesis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Gs6MEAIF6U
And that was pretty much the end of cutscenes for DoW2. After the intro cutscene, there were ZERO cutscenes after that which I thought was extremely lame... And the single-player campaign wasn't even that good. This coming from a pretty big 40k fan.personally found the intro to both DoW and DoW2 to be much more "epic". It's all about what you love.

COD 4 easily had set pieces just as good.[QUOTE="Frozzik"]And that was pretty much the end of cutscenes for DoW2. Elann2008
I loved the cut scenes for the campaign.. In fact I found DoW2's intro cut scene as some one who reads the books from the universe and what not to be incredibly lame..

Boom
I'm talking about the scene - I don't give a crap about the game, I rate it 8.0

...i thought it was a blu-ray movie....
WOW! Its been a while since I beat the sp. That scene really took me back. I'd find it hard to believe people saying that wasnt at least a little epic. Possibly the only goofy thing is that they are both a couple of old "doods" goin at each other to the teeth. Thats not my personal favorite as its the mgs3 ending
On top of many others from other games but that that one was extremely well put together as well as the op one.

I'm not wearing nolstagia goggles, hell my first console that I really played alot was a ps2 :?. As for COD2, that was before they started rehashing COD and abused slowmo explosions in the campaign. The whole British campaign in that game is full of awesome stuff.
COD 4 easily had set pieces just as good. Dead-Memories
That it did. I just think MW2 didn't pace it's "epic things" as well as previous IW CODs.
Bump for more epic scenes/gameplay moments

Here ya go mate!
Civ 5 trailer
Halo Reach Jorge (spoilers)
Half Life 2 ending (spoilers)
Halo Reach ending (spoilers)
Lost Odyssey Intro
The whole thing is awesome to watch, but if you haven't got the time to watch it all skip to about 1:05 in.
Possible 'SPOILERS'
TC thats an epic scene for an epic game :) But MGS4 is filled with those, like Vamp vs Raiden one, the bike chase, the Metal Gears face off etc etc..
But games like Geow series, Uncharted series, KZ2, Mass effect games & Heavenly Sword (to name a few) all have epic scenes which come in both cut-scenes & gameplay form..
(PS. I also think that Kratos vs Poseidon in GOW3 is one hell of an epic fight and deserves to be mentioned :) )
hmm problem with claming this sort of stuff is...unless you're a fan of MGS, that scene simply does nothing to the neutral observer... Im only seeing two retirees having a go at each other... Things like this are as subjective as asking folks what they think is the best game or best game genre.Boom
