Because Cryengine 2 was the PC's claim to fame. Whenever you bring up PC vs consoles, this is brought up. This is very much like the Xbxo 360 losing Gears Of War / Halo or Playstation 3 losing Killzone 2. Still .. I'm happy for the console gamers :D Honestly.

Crysis is our claim to fame because it demonstrates PC capability advantages, the engine was just the means. In the end an engine is just a way of handling resources, Cryengine 2 enabled us to show off PC capability.
Cryengine 2/3 going cross platform does not concern me, on the contrary if it means more cross platform games using Cryengine then I'm all for it. But if they attempted to port Crysis, it wouldn't negate what the game demonstrated of PC capability; but it would be an insult to the franchise.
I hate seeing any game butchered from its original form, there have already been enough examples of that with past consolized PC titles.
Well said. Correct as well. An engine is an engine, unless we want to boast exclusive engines as "exclusive games" now. Crysis is the claim to fame, not the engine. The engine is just a means, without the game an engine just sits there. Considering Crysis has sold around 2 million copies (not including Warhead)people seem to notice this.
Agreed as well, if Crysis gets ported it's going to be a sad day. I wouldn't mind them working on a Crysis spinoff (like with FarCry Instincts on Xbox) on the consoles but to directly port Crysis would be a joke and an insult to the game. Better off making an exclusive Crysis game on PC using CryEngine 3 and seeing as we just saw the console iteration of the engine, the PC version would look far superior. Looking at a console iteration of Crysis after playing the Warhead and Crysis on PC would be like looking at night and day.
Looking at Project Offset (PC exclusive shooter) it's safe to say we have a new "Crysis" on our hands. Only difference is the company behind Offset (as with every other PC dev other than Crytek) knows how to optimize well on PC.
