It seems as if Project Offset is the first game that can be compared to in the same league as Crysis. I never mentioned anything about it being better.

Watch the videos and let me know what you think. While you watch them, keep in mind:

-This is a different art style.

-This game (or what they show of it) is in it's early stages of development..

-Don't be immature and bash any consoles or the PC, this is about a game, not a console.

Anyways, here's the link to the gamespot page for the 360 one.

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/projectoffset/index.html?tag=result;title;0

And the official site with more information and even more videos about the game and the engine.

www.projectoffset.com

---

Some pictures.

Let me know what you think!

=)

While good looking, it's not comparable to Crysis.

Looks good, well have to see about your question. First response would be to say no, since consoles don't and never will have the processing and video power of a PC.

This is ridiculously old and we really don't know too much about how the game is now, I'm sure there have been LOTS of changes. I bet UT3 with highest settings (on PC) will be comparable to crysis.

Those are old as HELL and they still look good, especially in motion. However, you really cant compare this to the graphics king.

That's funny, I didn't see shadows on the ogre.

And they say "we have soft shadows on everything". Where is it? They didn't even say if it was dynamic. Where's volumetric clouds? Where's realtime ambient maps?

Seriously has nothing against Crysis. One Cryengine 2 tech demo blows this away.

I agree.

The unreal engine has zero innovations that Cryengine is bringing. Even the Source engine is still better than the unreal engine.

Mhmm, there was a thread saying UT3 would push into Quad Cores to get it maxxed ... has there been any info released on UT3's performance?

I dont know why Unreal Tournement 3 would require a Quad Core ... I mean ... yea it has physics ... but its mainly a RAM / GPU intensive kind of game ... since there isnt much physics other than ragdolls/ Vehicles.

all the previous UT games have been pretty CPU dependent compared to other games of their time...UT04, could be played on an onboard Intel Video card.

A few years ago they said that a 6800 Ultra could run it on high settings, things must have changed a lot. UT3 is said to be like Crysis where you will be incapable of running it at its maximum potential for a few years. I really hope that this game runs well, there is no info on its performance so it is hard to say how good it will be.

I thought it was said that Core 2 duo,8800GTS,and 2gigs of RAM would be more than enough to run Crysis at max settings at DX10?And a 1800 could run it maxed at DX9

Yes it will be, but the Crytek developer said that there is technology that will not be able to be taken advantage of in the game for at least another 3 years. I really don't know what that means, but he said something like that. Maybe there is an ULTRA ULTRA Quality or something.:?

Not maxxed, Ultra high, which can mean anything, say all textures / full lighting / all physics , but possible we very low AA , and a "decent" resolution.

Max in Crysis / UT3 case means FULL AA / FSAA at a ridiculous resolution.

There will be an update for Crysis about 18 months after its release which will add features current PCs cannot run. I believe it will be graphics/physics updates.

Hypothetically speaking, if Killzone 2 achieved it's originally percieved visuals, which would be a more graphically superior showcase?

Um yes really you posted this already in another thread and yes it looks extremly close to the high end settings now take into accoutn the texture update with faster load times that they released 3 monthes ago in the 360 version and my point even becomes more clear.

ps. that is compared to the 360 version before the patch.

"Oblivion looks better on a high-end PC than on the Xbox 360. Note the additional foliage visible in the background. We matched up resolutions for screenshot comparison purposes here, but a high-end PC with an AMD Athlon FX-60 CPU and GeForce 7900 GTX graphics card can enable all the settings and take resolutions up to 1600x1200 or more and still maintain smooth frame rates."

it doesnt even look close....

even with the texture update (which only makes a marginal difference) the PC version still looks a lot better.

[QUOTE="Heil68"]Looks good, well have to see about your question. First response would be to say no, since consoles don't and never will have the processing and video power of a PC.cobrax75

Consoles already ahve the video and processoing power far superior to most pc's and as good as higher end gaming pc's .

no.

again...lets look at Oblivion....

Yes look how it looks virtually identical withough modds or better yet lets look at SC.DA . Or even better lets look at winner of best graphics technical last year on very webisght ooo yea thats right a console title?

ORLY?

virtually identical huh?

PC Oblivion looks better on a high end PC. Alot better ? No.

And the 360 looks best on other PC variants. Not everyone has a high end PC.Most play it withmuch worse graphics compared to the 360.

About the original post, I think Project Offset, although the images posted were very, very old (almost 2 years), it seems to be the only game comparable to Crysis. It does look superb, watch the videos, and after reading up on Project Offset, I wouldn't be surprised if they could make it a more enjoyable experience than Crysis. No doubt Crysis will be a great game, not only because of it's amazing graphics, but Offset has a better artstyle, and there have obviously been changes made to the engine and graphics in the past 2 years.

Crysis doesn'thave an art style. It's just trying to be ultra-realistic.That's it's strength.
