On topic, the voice acting and animations are pretty poor tbh.Very disappointed with that.

[QUOTE="sts106mat"][QUOTE="Heirren"]well i have been looking forward to it since oblivion. I know i wont be disappointed either, certainly not by graphics or voice acting LOL. oblivions voices and graphics didn't bother me in the slightest, matter of fact, i enjoyed them, even after 200 hours. i dont care if its graphics and voice acting ARE THE SAME as oblivion (which from what i have seen isn't the case anyway), i am buying it for the main reason its intended a whole load of S*** to discover and do. i am with you on this one, i enjoyed the story and the voice acting and i don't really care wether the graphics are an improvement or not, i clocked 500 hours on oblivion and i i am looking foreward to clocking just as many on skyrim, heading straight for the fighters guild after beating some poor sod to a pulp for a decent weapon an sheild and some heavy armour, forget the magic unless it's a heal spell, lolI will say that somehow the atmosphere was decent. However, you must realize that this is a sequel to Oblivion, which was a LAUNCH title. It has been in the works for a long time. Personally I don't care much as these types of games aren't my cup of tea, but for those that are a tad let down that have been looking forward to it, I can understand the disappointment. The game may turn out alright, but it certainly looks like a budget title.

I can understand that, but in regards to the thread title--I don't see it getting goty. I'm not a fan of these types of games, but I've been reading negative comments from people that do enjoy these sorts of rpgs.
has it ever been confirmed if the video was from an early build or not?lawlessxNot sure, it is Bethesda though, they're not exactly known for releasing the most polished games.

If this is representative of the quality in the full game, I can't see it scoring above 8.5. Hell, if it wasn't Elder Scrolls I would guess a 7.0, but it will get great scores because of the name. I will pick it up when it drops to $20, like I did with Fallout 3. Sorry but Bethesda aint all that great.Master_ShakeXXXYeah, 30 minutes is a full and clear representative of a 300 hour game. :]

More like a 3000 hour game with all of the mods + add-ons for it.
These games have incredible lasting appeal...it's definitely worth the money at launch, broken animations or not.

The AI in MGS4 was pretty darn buggy.

The problems we seen in the beginning arn't simply going to evaporate later on in the game. This is ****ing Bethesda we're talking about.
Even with the unimpressive footage Skyrim> Dark souls.
Heck, Oblivion>Dark Souls.

Hardly. Everything that Skyrim did wrong in that video, Dark Souls does right. Dark Souls actually has fantastic animations, some of the absolute best in the genre. It's voice acting isn't anything award worthy, but the actors do a good job with the characters. They're entertaining in a hammy and over the top sort of way. The VA we hear in Skyrim is delivered in such a boring and monotone manner. It's as if the voice actors were half asleep while they were recording.
Combat in Dark Souls is infinitely better than what we saw in this video, where the player seemed to be swiping at stone statues that didn't react to the hits. In Dark Souls every hit feels satisfying with bloody sound effects and enemies that draw back in pain. Most importantly, Dark Souls completely does away with boring scripted sequences like the ones in this video.
If the first 30 mins have problems and bad animations and voice acting just imagine what 300 hours of it will be like :?
300 hours is only good if they are well spent and very good gaming. 300 hours just to fill space of crappy animations, voice acting and dialogue with bugs and glitches? (its a bethesda game, they WILL be in it). Sounds like it would get annoying fast. In short. That 30 mins did nothing to sell the game for me
Except Oblivion was worse than this and I loved every second of the 200 hours I put in.If the first 30 mins have problems and bad animations and voice acting just imagine what 300 hours of it will be like :?

even a compressed video of Uncharted 3 looks amazing. seriously, if a game looks amazing, no matter how compressed a video is it will still look amazing. on the same note, the video wasn't even that compressed, yet it still didn't look that great.

Or that the game has clearly crap textures and blocky shadows as well as bad animations and voice acting, all of which can't be excused by an alpha or beta build. This is Dark souls all over again with the haters ( people who obviously don"t like the game or genre) spewing hate, I think alot of elder scrolls fans don"T really care about the animations or voice acting All we want is an enormous world to explore and decent combat and we are good,Personally the moment I leave the starting area I"m off exploring and hording...and possible some ninroot farming.

I wouldnt exactly say Pete Hines is the most trustworthy of people. Regarding Oblivion, he said this.
"Honestly, and this is just my opinion, I think the hardcore RPG guys are going to love what we have in store for them in Oblivion. The depth, the level of polish...it crushes Morrowind. That doesn't mean that other people won't want to buy it and play it because it's a beautiful game that has fun combat and cool quests. We'll make enough copies for everyone."
So much wrong in a single quote.

Have you played Dark Souls ?
It is like a million times better than what i saw in the new Skyrim video imo

The AI in MGS4 was pretty darn buggy.
Buggy is probably the wrong choice of words, but it was broken as all hell with those rediclious load times. The gameplay itself was fine probably the best of the serise but some of the other things about the game *for me* were just unforgivablebeing an MGS game.
That doesn't really sound like an Elder Scrolls fan, more like a general gaming fan. After watching the video, I didn't really change my opinion of the game. I knew Skyrim and its new engine is just an improved version of Oblivion with more features. Doesn't stop me from buying it though. The world combined with future mods makes the game a must buy for me.This is Dark souls all over again with the haters ( people who obviously don"t like the game or genre) spewing hate, I think alot of elder scrolls fans don"T really care about the animations or voice acting All we want is an enormous world to explore and decent combat and we are good,Personally the moment I leave the starting area I"m off exploring and hording...and possible some ninroot farming.

lol Oblivion fans and their low standards
Bethesda fanboys: Voice acting don't matter, animations don't matter, combat and gameplay don't matter...Skyrim got a Open worlds and uhh...teh coversation systemz.
I liked Morrwind and all but it's 2011 not 2003. Standards have risen get with the times.
sts106mat
yet again you come into a thread with an attitude problem trying to annoy people rather than actually try and have a proper discussion about the games.
enjoying a game bethesda release doesn't make anyone a bethesda fanboy dude.
From IGN's review of Dark Souls:- "The reviewer's job is difficult when it comes to a game like Dark Souls. I simply can't unreservedly recommend that you buy it. It's not a game that you play to relax. It doesn't care in the slightest about whether you're enjoying yourself, and it doesn't give a fig for your notions of entertainment or your mental well-being. If you just play games for fun, this isn't for you".
Now, I do play games for fun and to relax, so to be honest i would pick skyrim over oblivion every day just because its going to be like oblivion, which i had an amazing time with.
I will get dark souls eventually, as i want to experience it to see what all the fuss is about.but just because skyrim doesn't appeal to you, doesn't make it a bad game for other people. a
Also, low standards? LOL, there are plenty of games with poor graphics (most previews state the graphics are great) and poor voice acting that do well, because they are greater than the sum of its parts.
lol, taking a quote from the perspective of one reviewer does not make a factual point about the game, it just reflexts his/her experience and or skill level. I acually play Dark Souls to relax, I slash and destroy enemies. The game is ALOT easier than Demon's Souls, I actually wish the game was a bit harder.
Furthermore......
sts106mat "but just because skyrim doesn't appeal to you, doesn't make it a bad game"
You are right, it's bad because of all the technical and gameplay related things I listed that are bad, which every other game also has to be measured on. Let me remind you I liked Morrowind and I accepted all of those flaws at the time because of the huge and detailed world was quite a feat that the time...but that was in 2003--it's 2011 now.
sts106mat "low standards? LOL, there are plenty of games with poor graphics"
:? somehow you got "graphics" out of all that which I wrote, lol *shakes my head*...I do like a game with good graphics, but that has nothing to do with anything I have said here.

I did just buy a wii, afterall--surprisingly most places our selling out of the old model. I just got an email from Target saying my order was delayed until late nov/mid december!
But anyways, I still understand where the complaints are coming from. People are a tad upset that the game, being a sequel to oblivion, did not recieve polish in areas that the fans have been asking for years.
Hmm, so Michael Jackson wasn't the creator of it. This is starting to look more and more like a Michael Jackson haunting of the SkyrimZ![QUOTE="-Unreal-"]

This is unacceptable for a big budget title like this.

It's not like Dark Souls didn't have any of those, right? Bad framerate is a technical issue. Dead enemies getting stuck on you, enemies in walls, falling through the floor. Getting too critical about them in one game and ignoring them in another isn't entirely fair ...
