That was exactly my first impression on the demo, this game screams "that's how FPSs should be played", the demo is very impressive, the AI is hard when you choose hard mode ( obviously , lol) and alot of times I got killed and the over-dosed allies also got me killed me alot of times, the 4 players Co-Op feels fantastic and lag free, the graphics are not top-notch but the lighting and HDR makes alot for the graphics and make it look gorgeous, the environment are vibrant, don't listen to the haters.
The game is fast-paced, running on stunning 30FPS with no slowdown no whatsoever, the nectar really gives an advantage for the player to play in a very different way, it's easy to kill with nectar ( not too easy, the AI is smart and takes cover and rolls when taking fire and if the player is surrounded, he is dead for sure),
The gunplay is so tight, it feels different ( refined ) from Timesplitters but exactly what you would expect from Free Radical, the sound effects, the music, the explosions, the battles make an intense atmosphere.
It is going to get 8.0 at least, Im happy with it, this game is full of win, for me, it is 9.0 at least. :)
So rejoice fans of Free Radical, you will not be disappointed with the game.

What? And this didn't bother you? I never got killed by my allies but I found it extremely annoying when all of a sudden I'd be getting shot in the back. It's just stupid. Sure, have them act crazy when overdosing, but don't let them shoot me in the back, potentially killing me. That's cheap and annoying as all hell.
As for the AI, it's semi-good. Enemies move around a bit, use cover and roll, but then occasionally you get stupidness like a group of them running straight at you in a row, what the hell is that? An ally stepped in front of me and got shot in the head. Another ally walked over and stood in a fire for like ten seconds. "Ow ah uh ow ah uh ow ah ah oh!" It was slightly humorous.
But overall it's a solid game.
The graphics are pretty good. It doesn't look particularly impressive, but it looks good. What I, sadly, find impressive is that the framerate is really solid and that there's effective anti-aliasing.
The demo is weird as all hell in the way it just throws you into the middle of a battle with no introduction whatsoever. But in a way that's cool as it kind of shows you how chaotic war can be in a pretty clever way. Everything but the nectar is pretty standard anyway, so you pick up how to play it fairly fast and easy, plays well too. And like I've been thinking before, I don't see why this game has been getting so much hate. Or hype for that matter. Overall it's a pretty good game, but it's just kind of...I've played I don't know how many first person shooters, and this doesn't have the "it" that makes me wanna buy or play it. It's kind of like Timeshift, a game I thought had some neat ideas and picked up when it was $20.
But I will say that Free Radical has done a good job at emphasizing the narrative implications on the gameplay. I don't know if that sentence makes sense so I'll elaborate. When playing the game you really do get the feeling that you're just tearing through the enemies like some drugged up killing machine. The sense of subdued, amped up warfare. The enemies are glowing, which kind of makes them seem more like targets than humans. And such. I like this aspect of the game. The narrative and how it affects the gameplay, the psychological aspect. Of course the rebel side would have to be noticeably more hard-hitting and unpleasant for it to really work. The gameplay is pretty standard when you get down to it, but this stuff intrigues me.
8.0 is a fair prediction I'd say.
I like annoying stuff...I mean in GTA4 alot of people got annoyed of the hard driving controls in the game and I found it more interesting because it feels alot real, the over-dosing got me killed twice on hard and I didn't get mad or anything, lol.
The AI is great like you said, ya they go straight for me but try it without nectar, they will kill you quickly and sometimes even with nectar.
I like your impression of the game and 8.0 is great but fanboys don't play 8.0 games nowadays so they say medicore to the A-AA games, I laugh at them.
I don't think it is like Timeshift, Puhlease, that game was really messed up, the controls were weird, I've played the demo and I thought it is going to be an interesting game from trailers but it is always goes down with the controls in shooters and Timeshift didn't deliver on the most important aspect, in HAZE's case, they delivered and the story also is a plus for games so Im really looking forward to the story also.
