Which perspective is better? Here is a list to remind you of the games:

First Person (Halo 3, COD4, Killzone 2)

Third Person (Gears 2, MGS4, GTA4)

It works well in tactical shooters like GRAW -- but if it's a fast-pace run and gun shooter, First Person is always the best pick. Either way, I like both the same.

I find First-Person shooters to be more immersive, but Third-Person shooters are rarer and I'd probably find it "fresher".

First person is almost always the more immersive perspective. I have nothing against third person (I found Mass Effect incredibly immersive) but I much prefer first-person if a game is desiring that I become immersed in it.

I like the ability to alternate. That might explain why Fallout 3 was my personal pick for GOTY. I liked being able to look around me at all times but simultaneously have the first-person experience.

3rd. Much easier to do things aside from shooting.

third person....never been a fan of 1st person...I like to admire the scale of animation that has been poured into characters...and I also feel comfy in third person so its definitely my personal bias. however if its a game like elder scrolls or fallout I'd much prefer first person as the third person view and character animation makes me hate the game and everything around me.

It really depends how well the devs excecute each perspective. For instance, Dead Space was absolutely beautiful as a third-person shooter game, and it's hard to imagine it as an FPS.
Same with FPSs, it really depends how well the game is.

Is this poll about shooters? Because it didn't state so and RPGS are better third person imo than first. For shooters 1st person, for everything else I enjoy 3rd person.

I like both and it's hard for me to choose a favorite, but I said 3rd person anyway just because RE:5 is about to come out.

I prefer 3rd person. I dont like only being able to see what is in front of you and I often get headaches or a dizzy feeling when I play first person shooters. I like being able to see the player you are controlling.

according to GS, third person shooters have been rated higher than first person ones. GTA4 and MGS4 both got 10 but the only console fps to get a 9.5 is Halo 3. Maybe fps's aren't all they're cracked up to be.

Personally i think that thid person works better on consoles.

It depends on the Genre some genres First Person is better but for Most genres 3rd Person is the way to go. One thing I would like just because it would be funny is 2nd Person.

Yeah, the animations are pretty garbage in Bethesda games. Also, I like first person more.

First person makes you feel more like you're in the action. Third person lets you see more of the action, but makes you feel detached from it. Take your pick.

First Person Shooters. There are some great Third Person Shooters out there, but there just hasn't been anything in that category quite on the level of Unreal Tournament, Quake III, or Doom.

You know, I think I've actually heard of something like this before. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the game, but it was mentioned in a thread on General Games Discussion, and the game would have you playing the game, looking at your character through the eyes of you enemy while you killed them.

Third Person perspective is MUCH better. I generally don't like First Person perspective games, but some of them are good such as Bioshock and Condemned Criminal Origins. And the Penumbra games demos I have played seemed to be pretty good too.

1st person is almost always easier, 3rd person usually takes more skill/patience/practice to be good at those games. Not sure why though since you can see more in 3rd person.

Third person for me, i guess that when i start with this kind of games back in the N64 era i was really mad because games like Golden Eye made me sick and i found more confortable with games like Jet Force Gemini.

Yup...it still didn't feel right...sure it makes shooting look a little better, but the general movement (jumping, melee and so forth) still doesn't look fluid or comfortable to me. I just feel those games were designed with first person in mind and just tacked on third person view just for the sake of doing it.
