I don't know. It just sounds that way to me. You know, along the lines of wanting a highly ambitious game that tons ofPS3ownersare looking forward to to suck. Wanting the game to fail in sales so that people get laid off....that kind of stuff.
Gh0st_Of_0nyx
And how is that fanboyish? Just because the game is on the PS3, right? Typical SW.
I agree this game SCREAMS generic shooter and its only selling point is the number of players on the map at one time. I bet cow's cant name one innovative thing this game does to set it from the pack."thing this game does to set it from the pack"
Wait you just named one didn't you?
Butsince when does a game got to be !!TEH INNOVATION!! to be fun?
Those are definitely bullshots. taker42u think so? they dont even look that good.....anyway if its one thing most ps3 exclusive games show its that it can do graphics like that, in game most likely better.

Throwing more players into the game dosent make it any less generic  thats like saying the new Fighting game is innovative and fresh because instead of 2 charatcers they have 4 :o ![QUOTE="ragrdoll21"]Remember that they made Socom1,2 and 3 so you could play it both ways.(tps and fps) Ex-act-ly. At least, I hope that's the way they do it. That was always a great feature in the series, until Confrontation. This game will be killer, folks. Deny it all you want. It will be another strong Socom-ish game with the one-life mentality. It doesn't get more intense than having one life per round to survive and kill with. people in here saying its looks like this or that.... maybe it does, maybe it will. But it will play faaaar better than most shooters out there. Quote me on it. which is why most of the socom games had low player numbers online, I don't have to give proof find a copy of OPM from like november of 2008 i believe and they do a whole write up on the socom series and they have hard numbers in there the numbers are no where near what halo 2 and 3 had.[QUOTE="Big-Boss56"] Yea that's what i said, i'm dissapointed because i hoped it would be a TPS but the screenshots clearly show it's a FPS.PoppaGamer

looks interesting, but my god NO more shooters !! please ! i love em, but seriously i cant take it anymore, most of the hyped popular games this gen has been shooters NO MORE !, i cant wait till prototype releases, i need to get used to games that are not shooters again

[QUOTE="kweeni"]hope it will be something like socommitu123You mean Socom 2, the best one in the series, how's Socom: Confrontation, it got a 6.5 here... well i haven't tried confrontation yet but wasn't it made by a (new) different studio? perhaps thats why it wasn't so good and yes socom 2 was great

Confrontation is VERY good after the patches. 1.5 just released earlier this morning adding some good features. If it launched like it is now, it would have scored much higher IMO. But you gotta give Slant Six credit. Confrontation is their first PS3 games after only making the PSP Socom. I'm sure they've learned alot.

But then again, you can say it's automatically generic since it's a shooter :?. No.

Doesn't change the face that this game looks horrible, and it's only gimmick is the multiplayer.

I'm not saying MAG ISN'T generic. I'm saying that there's no way to tell right now. MAG looks horrible :|. Opinions are fun. 1.) Halo 3 - not generic 2.) KZ2 - not generic 3.) Bioshock - not generic But wait! They all have guns and enemies and bullets. Many shooters have "generic" aspects. There are shooters that separate themselves enough to not be classified as "generic" of course.Name three console shooters this gen that aren't generic.[QUOTE="TREAL_Since"]

I do not agree with you on this, hell 256 players if done well is far from a gimmick. This game could represent war in a game play format like we have never seen before, 256 players all fighting out hopefully using aircraft, APCs, Tanks, Snipers, Mobile bases, Planes with the ability to drop soldiers into combat by parchute, etc. If the game has all this and dose it well this game will be a new experience for all console owners. This game looks pretty good considering the out of date hardware and the fact it can potentially support 256 players.I'm not saying MAG ISN'T generic. I fail to see how KZ2 seperates itself. Omg teh graphicks? Please.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way.So it's an FPS with like 256 players hopping around? Yeah, huge skiparooni for me. No thank you!
BioShockOwnz
Ugh I really hope that its not FPS. I would like a grounded online TPS for PS3 so much. I know theres socom, but i heard theres so many problems with that game. I was getting into MGO,but I cant support it since konami doesint seem to know that the PSN accounts exist.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way.[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]

I'mnot one of those people that is impressed by large scale multiplayer modes. I hate when there's huge maps and a ton of enemies. It just becomes mindless, even if the devs try to make it a bit deeper. I prefer smaller and more intimate matches. I like when games are tense and in your face, not a bunch of people running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Zipper could prove me wrong and make a nearly 300 man multiplayer work great, but I severely doubt it.

The MP. KZ2's SP is pretty generic. It's hard to judge a game based on one component. Damn man, you could call Halo 3 generic based on SP. The MP brings it out.- Unique and integrated clan system
- Different take on c|ass design
- Warzone mode (never before done)
- First person cover (call it what you want, the way it is implemented is new).
Not calling the game innovative (though it does offer some new ideas to the genre). May not even be your cup of tea. May even be boring to some. One thing remains: KZ2 is not a generic game. Throwing the word generic at everything now-a-days irks me. Here's some more non-generic console games:
- TF2
- Gears of War 1
- Metal Gear Online (may be boring, definitely not generic)
Warzone mode (never before done)TREAL_Since
Warzone is a stroke of genius and it wouldn't surprise me if we see more games using that idea.
As for MAG, I'll remain cautiously optimistic. If they can pull it of it could be amazing. Just because something could be classed as "generic", it doesn't mean it won't be good or fun.
[QUOTE="Aljosa23"]
Man, I hope this game fails.
njean777
Why would you want a game to fail? that means one less game to play. Also people worked hard on that game wishing it to fail is like shoving s*** in there face.
I agree in this sense, the game looks fun, but some games (Carnival Games, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Pikmin New Play Control, etc etc) I really do want to fail. Companies like MS and Sony may see that, yes, these games are making a TON of money and COST LESS to make. They could see this as a win win situation, hell, MS even as a wiimote replica comping out now. Also in a quote in GI I read that Robbie Bach said something along the lines of "Shiny graphics and more frames per second simply won't do it anymore." While that's true, that's the exact same philosophy the wii had and look at all the gaming I've been doing on mine (haven't touched it since super mario rpg came out on virtual console.) I, for one, want shiny graphics and more frames per second (along with great gameplay of course, first and foremost.) So yes, some games I really do hope they fail, and fail hard. Also, I really do love Pikmin 1 and 2, but all this time and resources they've spent redesigning the original with motion control could've been spent making a brand new game. In case you forgot Nintendo, I can still play my original gamecube Pikmin on the Wii.
Adding some little features in the game does not make it generic. I wasn't even talking about gameplay, I was talking about the setting and everything else. I don't play FPS for MP because in the end they are all the same. The MP. KZ2's SP is pretty generic. It's hard to judge a game based on one component. I see what you mean though, in MP KZ2 is a beast to be reckoned with, same with the first person cover. The gameplay may not be generic but the setting and everything sure is.

Cautiously optimistic is the perfect way to describe MAG for me as well. It's Zipper and backed by Sony. KZ2 turned out great, I have a feeling this will as well. It's like Sony entered this gen hellbent on taking the westernized shooter market. I'd say they are getting very close. Please Log In to post.
