First screenshots for Dragon Quest Builders released! PS4

Square Enix announced a new game called Dragon Quest Builders last week which seemed to have big influence from Minecraft, new screenshots released for the game and gotta say it looks highly interesting

I love Minecraft and this one has a nice art direction. I'll keep my eye on it.

So it's a kind of bigger budget minecraft clone?

Dragon Quest Builders is an RPG and not a building simulator like minecraft ;) ( at least according to the low amount of info released, DQB dosent seem to put all its focus on building stuff)

i still stand to lolminecraft, DQB looks interesting since its an RPG but wont be a must buy till more is known about the game ;)

I do like Minecraft, and this definitely look like Minecraft, so it can't be horrible.

It's like a prettier Minecraft. Wonder if the pixel art graphics of Minecraft is part of the appeal for some, or will they prefer a much prettier game like this. I'd of guessed though that Sony might have jumped on the Lego Minecraft'esque game after MS bought Mojang. This game obviously excels visually over the others, but can DQ name and/or the graphics attached to it be enough to sell it?

Anyhow, Square Enix is making it. If Sony were to in house compete with Minecraft then I feel the IP to do it with should be Little Big Planet. I'm wondering if it's not time to give the series a push in a new direction.

@lamprey263: Looks like Minecraft mixed more with some sort of a Dwarf Fortress game with an RPG world around it. Could be very interesting building up a little city and whatnot.

These clones actually make the original look better thus increasing its sales and popularity, people want the actual experience, not imitation.

I bet there would be a Minecraft mod out of this.

Might pick it up. I actually have still never played Minecraft, so that's the one I am likelier to check out for now.

There's no reason for the landscape of this game to feature blocks other than to associate itself with Minecraft. They could have used voxels instead.
