I see a lot of people who thought games such as Alpha Protocol and Dante's Inferno were surprisingly good.
Which badly scored "flops" did you enjoy so far this year?

I really hate it when people call a 8.5 "flop". Sure, maybe the expected score was a 9, but calling a 8.5 game a flop is just wrong.Heavy Rain, 8.5 is a great score, but it was hyped 9 so I guess its a "flop".

How the heck did Alan Wake and Heavy Rain flop? 8's are still excellent scores.

Easy. If game is hyped to be an AAAA (10/10) and gets 9.5 it's still considered a flop.
Yeah but going off the types of choices TC mentioned, I think he meant low scoring games that had received hype. A lot of people like the games that only flopped by .5 or 1.0 so it would not make as interesting of a topic.I really hate it when people call a 8.5 "flop". A flop is when a game doesn't meet the hype, if the official hype for HR was 9-9.5, and it scored 1-8.5 it is a flop, don't get me wrong I love the game my favourite game this year.
Yeah I started up Nier a couple days ago after I beat RDR, while I respect Van'ord, I think his statement of "worse than the sum of his parts" could not be less accurate for any game, Nier only has a few game elements that are truely great, but I'm still enjoying it a lot, therefore that would mean "better" than the sum of its parts. :o But really the music is like Super Mario Galaxy level of epic, its just over the top and awesome all the time. The combat I actually enjoy once you start getting some powers, its quite easy to die so at least you can't mash aimlessly to win. The story is growing on me, it might not be progressing quickly but still, I think he just hated the fetch quests so much that he took off at least 2 or 3 points for them alone.Final Fantasy XIII and Bioshock 2 are both great, though they only missed their hype by a bit. Nier, while it wasn't really hyped, scored low here, and I think everywhere else as well. I'm playing it now and so far it's been amazing.

How about Blazblue? It only got an 8 on GS, but it's my favorite (new) game this generation. It wasn't a 2010 game, but it came out within the past year.

No no and no. Get out.
Alan Wake is the only legitament flop that anyone has been naming. C'mon, FFXIII? Wtf, guys. Heavy Rain? THEY'RE MAKING A HEAVY RAIN MOVIE, it's not a flop.
It was hyped AAA, it fell short with an AA score. Its a flop. Deal with it.Alan Wake is the only legitament flop that anyone has been naming. C'mon, FFXIII? Wtf, guys. Heavy Rain? THEY'RE MAKING A HEAVY RAIN MOVIE, it's not a flop.

LOL. That's your definition of a flop? That's f^&king retarded, my friend. You're a f*&king retard A flop is defined as "an almost or complete failure", hype has nothing really to do with it. If a game was hyped AAA (whatever the f&*k that rating system is) and falls a little bit short by getting an AA, that doesn't mean it's a flop... it was still a GREAT game in the eyes of a lot of people and it made a decent amount of money. The only thing that flopped in this situation was retarded gamespot users expectations (which, isn't surprising, it's very freqeunt).
A flop is something that doesn't live up to expectation, whih Alan Wake and Heavy Rain didn't ( according to gamespot), you're the retard[QUOTE="wintermute0"][QUOTE="Anjunaddict"] It was hyped AAA, it fell short with an AA score. Its a flop. Deal with it.Clank-PS-Snake
