All in all, For Honor is one of the most optimized games of 2017, alongside Resident Evil 7.The game shows proper keyboard on-screen indicators while playing, we did not notice any mouse smoothing/acceleration issues, there is a Field of View slider, and the game looks beautiful despite the fact that it does not require a high-end PC system. Ubisoft Montreal and Blue Byte did an incredible work, though we should note that the game’s environments are not really large. This may explain why Ubisoft’s open-world titles suffer from performance issues while For Honor does not. Either way, For Honor runs amazingly well on the PC, so kudos to Ubisoft.

Cool stuff.....Looks and runs great on XOne as well, played about 2 hours of it so far. I feel like I will be addicted to this for the next few days. This game is what I wanted Ryse to be. Hopefully it keeps delivering, still in the honeymoon phase now and getting used to the controls.

Don't people like get kicked for having low framerates and bad connection in this game? But yeah, tried the beta with my 1060 and everything runs fine at max settings at 1080p.

Aside from AC Unity which was horrible for everyone, most Ubisoft games in the past 3 years have run very well on PC to my knowledge. Not to mention they always release some of the best looking games on the market. Sad they're a bore to play.

The open beta ran at 80 to 90fps on ultra on my 1060. I say it's very much optimized.

The PC port by the way was outsourced to Blue Byte. Good decision, it seems!

Blue Byte... that's an old company you don't hear much from. They used to make Amiga games (The Settlers), one of the best games of all time.

Well, its still a shit game, so I wont buy it anyway. I rather wait for bannerlord to come out. Why can't ubisoft be slightly more innovative with their games. Its always the same simplistic shit over and over again.

Yeah I was playing the beta maxed out in 4K and it looked and ran great. I don't know the frames I was getting but I didn't care to check since it played great.

Have to disagree Ryse is an excellent game. Its an IP with potential. I wish MS had bought it from Crytek and worked on new Ryse type of game.

@loe12k: Well I agree because I played a ton of Ryse online, I very much enjoyed that game for what it was.

What I meant was that initially I had wanted Ryse to be this massive medieval type game with a ton of online modes similar to For Honor. In other words, I enjoyed Ryse and wanted more of it. More did not come, unfortunately for me, but so far I'm having a great time with For Honor. I just wanted a huge medieval based pvp/pve game and Ryse wet my appetite for that actually, it is one of the reasons Im stoked for For Honor. While the 2 games appear to be very different, you don't have that gladiator vibe from Ryse, they still share many aspects. But I'm still in the honeymoon phase for For Honor, will see how it goes.

I miss pcgaming. There really aren't any exclusives that appeal to me anymore. I used to spend hundreds of dollars on my rig a year, but now I barely touch it. Too many great console games to play. Anyways, it's good to hear that it was a good port. PC ports have been really bad lately.

@the_master_race: I didn't hate it, but I didn't really find myself to like the game. The combat was a little different than what I was expecting. It's just the gameplay that didn't feel like anything special. Perhaps if I put more time or played with friends, my opinion will change. But the hour and half I played wasn't very enticing.

Another thing, there was one annoying flaw about it which I did not understand. Why could you not manually change the the resolution in the game? Instead it took the max your system could do and it to that and you could not change it?

How was its SP ?

This success specifically from Mount And Blade.

Basically created genre. A man and his wife, with almost no budget.

Now, like fleas sucking blood, and media like Gamespot giving the game more attention than the game that caused it to exist in the first place, Ubisoft suckles it's life-form like the parasite they are.

@the_master_race: It's pretty boring for a story mode, not to mention it doesn´t even level your characters for the MP. It's mostly pointless and this is just for those who isn't all into MP.

Gotta love a well-programmed game. Props. Surprising form Ubi; did they develop of just publish?

@uninspiredcup: Mount and Blade is great, I own it, would recommend people look into it if they are interested in this genre. I'm happy that a high-profile dev decided to get involved with this kind of game, I don't see why they have to be considered "parasites".

This is an underrepresented genre on consoles, I've always wanted this kind of game, being a huge fan of TV shows and movies like Gladiator, Braveheart, and Game of Thrones. What would have been a cool gesture from Ubisoft, is they could have consulted with the 2 Mounts and Blade devs, hired them to work on this project as a sign of aknowledgement for what they did to the genre and since they are experienced in it they could have brought good ideas, but you know how these things can get with legal matters and such.

At the end of the day, Ubisoft decided to get involved in a genre that is rarely seen on consoles. Now while I love indie games, I also enjoy blockbuster experiences and For Honor has the high production values. Hoepfully it has depth as well. I'm optimistic about it for now, and will reserve final judgement on the product when I have spent enough time with it. No reason why the 2 cannot co-exist, you really enjoy this genre I definitely recommend you get Mount and Blade as well. Anwyays, just my 2 cents.

Open beta ran well for me except in the forest map around the water, seems dynamic reflections take off at least 30 fps (unless they optimized it recently).

@Alucard_Prime: The only thing they took from M&B is the directional swings and blocking, which was already stolen by War of the Roses and Chivalry. M&B is an RPG (at least warband is, and warband is only a good game because of it's rpg elements, not really the combat). For Honor is practically a fighting game.

K then , think I'm gonna save my money for later , though I'm still happy that the PC port is not broken

Sure, when the games are properly ported. But when they're not, you end up with crap like Batman Arkham Knight early PC version.

Less than 10% of games end up like that. The other 90% are much better on PC.

The PC beta ran great, but I uninstalled it after about an hour. I was not impressed with the game and I quickly learned that this was not a game that was going to hold my interest. Let's hope that they optimize Ghost Recon Wildlands better because that is a game that I am very much interested in.

That's because WB got cheap and outsource it to another party which is why Arkham Knight ran like shit on PC but now, it has gotten way better with the latest patches and even if it did ran shit, still better then playing it on current-gen consoles, that's for sure.

No, the kinda shit it ran before was like PSP bad. Console versions didn't have that level texture pop ups. And they were slow as FUUUUUUUCK...

Usually it's the PC version that is way better for a significant majority of games. Best is best.

Yeah, the Beta ran flawlessly for me. The game is pretty fun, but I think I'd get bored of it quickly, so I probably wont buy it.

Also, I slaughtered everyone in it. Maybe playing with M/KB is cheating..

To bad the combat system in the game is very slow and clunky...only good i can say about the game after 1hr is the graphic and animations looks good

They made it extra expensive on PC and it still runs p2p. Skipping this. Maybe when it gets a big discount (and some servers).

@cainetao11: yeah lol .....I'm still enjoying it, combat is fun but it takes some getting used to. I'm approaching it like a fighting game almost, trying to get good with 1 character(Warden). Characters have a move list and then you have the basic/advanced combat mechanics you have to learn. It will be frustrating if you keep dying over and over not knowing your moves well, same as you would if you were getting clobbered online in a fighting game if you are not familiar with all the moves, etc.

Only thing is yesterday the servers were not that great, a bit disappointed with that. But overall when I was in a match it ran quite well, but after all these betas I was expecting better. It's going to take me a few days to go through this game and once I learn the moves well & get more experience I will be able to tell how sharp the gameplay is. I don't know if this game runs on dedicated servers or not, it's hard to tell right now....I really hope so, it will be important for its longevity. Anyways, looking forward to playing more later.
