I base my experience on a PSN version.

1. Everything needs a higher texture definition. Although graphics in general look nice you may notice low res texture everywhere. The glaring flaws are

- NPC skins are plastic-looking, despite having good animations.

- Vegetation is just awful,

- Ground textures look like basic colours of green (grass) and yellow-white (sand)

When I ran GTA5 for the first time, I needed 2h to adjust my eyes for that poor definition.

2. Frame rate is arround 20-30 fps.

3. Shooting is just awful aim-assist. One can not enjoy the best gameplay mechanic of the game because aim assist is just plain boring. The game will automatically stick  the crosshair to the closest enemy. And with free aim, you will have the same precision like playing golf with your foot. It becomes quite noticeable during shooting challenges. In those occasion, shooting becomes a frustrating endeavor if you want to get something higher than the bronze.

Free-aim is super frustrating as the game throws at you not 3-5 enemies, but waves of enemies. Some achievements are plainly ungettable with a controller.

GTA5 begs for mouse precision in shooting segments. I REPEAT, the game aim for you. You basically don´t even need to adjust the crosshair.

4. Driving is meh. Really. The game needs mods.

- The cars are ultraresistant.

- Driving with a PS3 controller is a pain. Throttle is barely adjustable with a PS3 controller triggers. I´d rather drive with keyboard and mouse to this point. Keyboard had better precisions in GTA4 than driving in GTA5 with the PS3 controller.

- Sense of velocity is lost. I think it´s because of a poor framerate.

5. City feels quite empty.

6. 50-meter drawing distance

And general observations.

1. Gameplay is pretty equal to GTA4. The city themself feels even smaller than Liberty City. And the countryside is just roads with hills. The only difference I can see is the GTA5 is much more colourful and sunny, and the story missions are much more cinematic.

2. Changing characters doesn´t change gameplay drastically. Basically it means that you complete first all missions with Franklin, then switch to Micheal and compelte all Michael´s missions untill you reach a story point that involves all characters. Completing the story point unlocks new individual missions. This is it.

3. All that fun stuff you can do in GTA5, according to IGN trailers, you can NOT do until you grind for better weapons, train your characters, and buy itunes for the dog, adn unlock new type of activities, meaning you will have to put dozens of hours into the game first.

So here you are warned. GTA5 is totally not worthy on consoles. You are better off waiting for a PC version.  For a good reason, GTA5 is not 9.8 on user MC.

the frame rate is my only gripe. it's not gamebreaking, of course, but it's noticeably a little choppy sometimes.

Well GTAIV on PC was one of the worst experiences I've had with a game, and I barely even played it for 30 minutes.

Do we really need to recycle this same damn argument ad nauseam? Yes, I agree how a game this ambitious shouldn't be experienced on 8 year old hardware, and yes, I'm waiting for the PC version, but I'm silent about it. Bringing it up all the time sounds like constant damage control... suck it up and be patient, not very pleasant, I know, but shit happens.

Aliasing, frame rate and aiming are my biggest issues so far. The jaggies are everywhere. I had the same problem trying to play TLOU, and these technical flaws are completely ruining immersion.

And how many times do we get:

"What are you hermit playing while we enjoy GTA IV" threads from the consolites?

Granted, 75% of them are started by that one idiot cow, bus still.

At least this thread has some actual substance, and points out the technical limitaitons of the game form soneone playign the console version. And yeah, obvisouly the ocnoslites here don't care because they aren't going to play it on the PC, but the PC gamers WILL care.

Yeah, but no need to swoop down at their level. But then again, I suppose I could agree with some of his complaints, if you're used to PC gaming, they don't sound too far-fetched.

If you don't like aim assist, then turn it off. If you can't get headshots on free aim, you simply suck.

He has a good point though. The framerate is bad, the shadows are bad, the aliasing is bad, the lack of AF is bad, the card damage and handling is bad and the aiming is bad.  Those are all valid points and persoanlly I can't wait for a PS4 or PC version.

I disagree. I played GTA IV on PS3 first, and then on PC. It is much better on PC; the framerate is higher and the graphics are superior.

I've been playing on 360 and the FPS has been smooth. I can't recall a single frame-rate hiccup or pop-in at all. :?

Nearly every multiplat is better on PC.

Every GTA has been far better on PC.

Please explain why and how GTAV won't be best on PC.

I'm sure there was probably and hiccup here and there, but I just wasn't paying any attention because I was distracted by something else. There were no moments where I was thinking "Holy crap, the frame rate tanked hard" or "man, that pop in is so distracting". like in San Andreas and GTA 4.

Stop damage controlling Hermits, it's really sad
Just because you don't get GTA, doesn't mean you have to show this type of silly behavior.

It looked considerably better. It ran considerably better. It had mods.

Can you explain how it wasn't vastly better?

Just because Playstation3 is 3rd place this gen doesn't mean you have to pretend GTAV won't be best on PC. :)

The game is beta on consoles.

Very low settings, 720p, and 20 fps average. Terrible.
