For PC gamers, GTA5 sucks on consoles

I don´t hate them. I mostly find them quite entertaining. I don´t think PC gamer hate them either. But I would never lie about some product when other people´s money is at stake, unless I bloody sure it´s worth it. But I noticed that many console gamers on this forum have no consideration for others. I saw plenty of guys saing that it´s worthy to buy a console just for the sake of TLOU and GTA5, what is not true.

One thing is trolling on SW, totallt different thing is to make false advertisements.

GTA IV PC had everything the console version had + better graphics, mods, freedom of choice when it comes to controllers/keyboard and much more, so I don't see how it was crap compared to the consoles. It's not like GTA IV ran flawlessy on the consoles either, I remember having tons of problems with it on my PS3 back when it came out.

I watched my brother playing it for a short time (to avoid spoilers), and I'm pretty disgusted with the framerate.

I base my experience on a PSN version.

1. Everything needs a higher texture definition. Although graphics in general look nice you may notice low res texture everywhere. The glaring flaws are

- NPC skins are plastic-looking, despite having good animations.

- Vegetation is just awful,

- Ground textures look like basic colours of green (grass) and yellow-white (sand)

When I ran GTA5 for the first time, I needed 2h to adjust my eyes for that poor definition. 

2. Frame rate is arround 20-30 fps.

3. Shooting is just awful aim-assist. One can not enjoy the best gameplay mechanic of the game because aim assist is just plain boring. The game will automatically stick  the crosshair to the closest enemy. And with free aim, you will have the same precision like playing golf with your foot. It becomes quite noticeable during shooting challenges. In those occasion, shooting becomes a frustrating endeavor if you want to get something higher than the bronze.

Free-aim is super frustrating as the game throws at you not 3-5 enemies, but waves of enemies. Some achievements are plainly ungettable with a controller.

GTA5 begs for mouse precision in shooting segments. I REPEAT, the game aim for you. You basically don´t even need to adjust the crosshair.

4. Driving is meh. Really. The game needs mods.

- The cars are ultraresistant.

- Driving with a PS3 controller is a pain. Throttle is barely adjustable with a PS3 controller triggers. I´d rather drive with keyboard and mouse to this point. Keyboard had better precisions in GTA4 than driving in GTA5 with the PS3 controller.

- Sense of velocity is lost. I think it´s because of a poor framerate.

5. City feels quite empty.

6. 50-meter drawing distance

 

And general observations.

1. Gameplay is pretty equal to GTA4. The city themself feels even smaller than Liberty City. And the countryside is just roads with hills. The only difference I can see is the GTA5 is much more colourful and sunny, and the story missions are much more cinematic.

2. Changing characters doesn´t change gameplay drastically. Basically it means that you complete first all missions with Franklin, then switch to Micheal and compelte all Michael´s missions untill you reach a story point that involves all characters. Completing the story point unlocks new individual missions. This is it.

3. All that fun stuff you can do in GTA5, according to IGN trailers, you can NOT do until you grind for better weapons, train your characters, and buy itunes for the dog, adn unlock new type of activities, meaning you will have to put dozens of hours into the game first.

 

So here you are warned. GTA5 is totally not worthy on consoles. You are better off waiting for a PC version.  For a good reason, GTA5 is not 9.8 on user MC.

For example, by some reason, I can´t save a recently stolen car in my garage. It desapears, leaving me with a mediocre default car every morning. How´s that ? Why do I need car customization, if the damn car disappears.

Or how can I change my clothes, if they are replaced by the mission´s default clothes anyway.

That's your opinion and I respect it but most of the problems you listed will also appear in the PC version, so I don't see how it's the consoles fault and not the game's fault.

Yeh. The game itself has a lot issues. Some of the missions have totally unsatisfying conclusions leaving you with a strong wish for some epilogue. 

I even agree with Carolyn, most women in this game are just histerical b*tches. And not in a funny way, but in a completely stupid one. Seriously, even Americans can not be that stupid and shallow. 

The story about how the characters get into the money problems and need to come back to the criminal life is very brief, totally dull and illogical.

The only official report from R* I saw said they did not have the next installment of Grand Theft Auto (GTA VI) in production for next gen yet, but did not say anything about GTA V not coming to next gen.

I'd honestly be shocked if a port did not come to the next generation consoles, especially if a PC version is released considering it shares the x86 platform. There has been PS4/PC code found in the game already and if R* wants to make DLCs (assumption based on a text you get after you beat the game and GTA 4's history) and expand on GTA Online it would only be a wise decision to continue GTA V into next gen.

I'm calling a GTA V PC/Next Gen and 1st DLC announcement mid January of next year with a March 2014 release (1st DLC will be included with next gen and PC versions). I honestly think it'll just be a simple port with increased resolution (1080p), framerate (60 FPS) and AA implementation (MLAA) for consoles; which is more than enough for hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people to double dip. R* would profit immensely by this decision.

Sucks to be you then. Im a pc gamer too but I find GTA5 great on consoles. Sure the game has its technical hitches but at the end of the day the only question that matters to me is "Did I have fun?" hell yes I did. Can't  wait for pc version though, I can just imagine that this amazing experience on my ps3 will be further expanded on my pc.

PC games don't have review padding, which is why we don't use MC. SW uses GS, where pc is first place every gen and where GTAV was outscored by PC exclusives this year. 

BTW that game is comming to PC, and will be much much better. :)

GTA IV was terrible on the PC. It was only slightly better than the console version and needed a monstrous PC to run it properly. Ridiculous. I hope they don't muck up their PC port this time around.
