well this is not good news (for Sony fans or anyone else). How long before others follow suit?
And this is how they'll get back the money from the hardware lol. And they say console gaming is cheaper. Sheesh.
Not all of them. Spiderman Miles Morales game is $49.99.
Our own Worldwide Studios titles will be priced from US$49.99 to US$69.99 (RRP) on PS5.
Sweet. The only game I'm interested in is Rachet and Clank. By the time I get a PS5 it will be heavily discounted anyway.

Already several 3rd party studios confirmed $70 dollar games, sony wasn't the first.
When you offer a barn bursting amount of world class exclusives it shows SONY is synonymous with value.
What are these "world class exclusives" on the PS5 you're talking about?

Well $49.99 is a lot for dlc.
Well crap, this sucks. I really don’t want to see game prices go up next gen but it’s really starting to look that way.
Unfortunate but almost every one of their games have been easily worth full price. An extra $10 isn't a deal breaker.
yes it is. company have shown hard this gen. (not next) that they release bug filled unfinished games. and people will buy it up some times.
how they currently dev games is out right backwards and will be a full money pit coming up gen.
Unfortunate but almost every one of their games have been easily worth full price. An extra $10 isn't a deal breaker.
False, a 20-30hr SP game is not worth $70, games will need MP to justify that price, and Sony doesn't do that.
Well, if they're standalone single-player games, then I suppose that was inevitable and excusable; higher development costs and inflation and all that.
What galls me is that Ubisoft and 2K and the likes are going to take this as the green light to mark up their own microtransactions-laden live service skinner box shitpits. Charging $70 for those is just taking the piss.
@i_p_daily: oh bullshit. MP is your life? Fair enough. But not for me. I rarely have any interest in MP
MP isn't my life, but i do play MP when i want to chill, having played through the SP what incentive is there to go back to it? none, and MP means a lot more than just playing against other people online, its encompasses co-op as well, again something Sony just doesn't have (they even have the nerve to charge for online play)
And for that extra 10 bucks will games suddenly get an extra few levels? of course not the length of the game won't be determined by the price you pay.
So save the, oh bullshit, for someone else.
Time for Xbox to counter.... If only they have games! But man, gaming is expensive I hope Sony introduce regional pricing for its worldwide base. Just now we get a thread of games costing around $135 in argentina? Wow that is expensive that is almost price of 2 next gen game in NA.
@i_p_daily: I don't enjoy multiplayer games without co-op and really enjoy the single player games Sony produces. So... yeah. Worth every penny.
So because you don't like MP (a common theme for PS gamers, so why do you pay for PS+) it doesn't mean others don't, and once you finish the campaign there's nothing left, its time to trade it in, and while sitting watching hours of endless cutscenes maybe worth every penny to you, others like to play games.
@i_p_daily: We obviously have different definitions of what a game is.
I pay for Plus to play co-op with friends and family.
Not with Sony's games you don't lol.
If Sony is "for the gamers," then why it makes home consoles which are closed systems? Should gamers play any game they want on any device without being forced to play it on a certain device which Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are doing?
@i_p_daily: no, I won't save it for someone else. You're the one telling people what is our isn't a worthwhile game purchase for them, not me. You need MP for 70 that's fine, but I don't (cue "you're a sucker" comments)
Its obvious we have different views to when it comes to value for money, and we'll leave it at that.
It was inevitable for consoles.
Although, I remember crying foul when Activision priced MW2 at $60 on PC back in 2009 and then new PC games became the standard $60. Hopefully the console industry doesn't do that again to PC. :(
I buy the games that are worth the price to me. I don’t mind 70$ day for the games I want. If the price is a problem then just wait till it’s cheaper which most games get cheaper after 3 months. Of course this doesn’t apply to Nintendo which is a major reason I haven’t been able to get on board with Mario and Zelda cause getting started with an old exclusive is still asking to fork over 50$ for a 4 year old game.

A voice of reason in system wars. Shoot this poster.
Haven't games been $50-$60 since the NES days? I'd say it's about time to adjust for inflation and I'd assume modern games production cost way more now than back then.
@tdkmillsy: ms puts theirs on game pass
Those games are not YOURS so paying for a game and renting them is not the same or close.
Unfortunate but almost every one of their games have been easily worth full price. An extra $10 isn't a deal breaker.

lol why do you feel the need to lie?
I don't agree with $70 dollar games, but since i started gaming in the early 80's i can tell you many games back then cost that,in fact i payed $80 for MK2,SF2 i remember pretty well,N64 games cost that as well.
Oh and that doesn't Include NeoGeo games those were like $200 per game.

Dude not all games need a damn multiplayer mode period, and sony does have multilplayer games, and on games such as TLOU2 and GOT multiplaying is on the way.

I remember those 60 dollar games like Virtua racer and the 250 dollar neo geo games.......no one had them, neo geo is no longer in business. It just makes games as a service a bit more appealing, never bother owning and play anything you'd like. If Sony builds out their service then we're golden
@i_p_daily: You're aware that we get almost every game you do right?
You do know this is a thread about Sony charging $70 for games right?
And you said you pay for PS+ to play co-op games.
So Sony doesn't provide any co-op first party titles that i'm aware of (correct me if wrong) and you pay Sony even more money for PS+ and yet you say Sony's first part SP titles are worth every penny?
Seems not to be the case, if Sony were to offer co-op in its first party games then yeah you could say they're worth the money, but as it stands you need to buy third party titles to get the co-op experience.
Seems like you're not getting value for money after all, from my perspective of course.
@i_p_daily: You seem to be in full Playstation Derangement Syndrome mode. It's ok man. It'll be ok. It'll be ok...
*turns to crowd of onlookers and whispers* - Someone get this man a psychiatrist.
Ah deflection, well after contradicting yourself i guess its all you have left.
Sony's SP games are worth every penny, i have buy third party games to get my co-op fix, not worth every penny after all lol.
