No I just remember your last apple related thread, even if you want to go down that road, think about what you said. You say companies release stronger hardware than apple and then you turn around and say the only place apple isn't setting the bar is in the minds of gamers or whatever. Apple is only leading in software support. They are even behind when it comes to cameras which his hilarious considering the type of people that they try to market to.

musicalmac

Apple is the most valuable company in the world! What are you talking about??

What does this have to do with anything? We are talking about their products here, not how good of a job their marketing team does to attract hipsters and make apple products trendy.

Hipsters are broke college kids. They didn't become the most valuable company in the world because of hipsters. lol

I don't really care, I got mine free to use from work, so I'm cool with a new one. :P

Still my opinion hasn't changed, tablets are still pointless IMO, I can do anything on my laptop only better. There's a few perks with the tablets, and they're great for e-readers. But I still want to spend more time with it to see if I'd really want one or not.

Edit: I have yet to even try an Android tablet.

Like I said earlier, part of their marketing is the "we" strategy, as if the consumer is part of some kind of revolution. They have such a dedicated fanbase that this cannot be denied--it is very cult like.

Look at the ipad. It was rumored for a long time that apple was readying a tablet of sorts. People made claims as to what it would offer and how it would be a revolution to what somebody NEEDED to own. Now, even before the ipad launched, some of the "givens" like a front/rear cam for business meetings/video conferencing were key things people expected to be included. It turned out they were not, as apple knew the launch model would sell anyways. Millions of people bought into that. THEN, these very features were put into the next iteration of the IPHONE. People bought into that because it was actually useful. THEN, apple finally throws these features into the ipad2. So what they did was sell TWO pricey products knowing they would sell, and then duping consumer into finally buying the second "real" version of the ipad.

I'd like to have the option to upgrade every year if I so choose (i.e. if money is no issue).

Thankfully I'm managing to save up enough money to upgrade my video card, iPhone, and iPad yearly.

I never said they were.. notice how I said make apple products trendy and still you don't focus on my main point at all which is that they are behind in almost every aspect product wise. All they have is the software support.

I can't respond do that point, because you don't substantiate it with anything. What am I supposed to say? I'm not interested in talking to someone who is clueless.

How about some arguments? When it comes to the components of their devices they're lagging behind other phones / tablets and they still want more money, iOS is very isolated and doesn't give much freedom unless you jailbreak it. There is absolutly nothing that speaks for Apple other than *I'm so cool because I have a biten Apple on my device*. Just look at the reaction of the fanbase when it turned out that the 4gs looks very similar to the 4, they got crazy because others wouldn't see that they threw out a lot of money again

That simply isn't true. Apple makes GREAT products, in that they are built very well and very efficient. I tell ya, I just bought an ASUS laptop because the "specs" were much better suited towards what I thought would help me out--I do photo/video editing/wacom use--and well it turns out the machine, less than a year old, is already giving me problems. Yes, Apple computers can have problems, a cousin of mine actually went through two in one year, but generally speaking they are by far the most reliable product out their.

There we go, something I can respond to, kind of.

I'm not entirely clear what you're citing when you say they're lagging behind in the smartphone and tablet arena. Apple carefully designs their products with a sense of balance in mind. For example, the iPhone 4S CPU is clocked at 800mhz. What need is there to clock it any higher? The GUI is already fast and responsive, apps work without a hitch, and battery life is excellent. You don't need a bazooka to kill a fly.

In the tablet arena, Apple truly is unmatched in GPU performance. Even the new Transformer Prime is roughly half to two thirds as fast as Apple's iPad 2 (per these benchmarks). The A5 in the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S is going to be around for a couple years.

And I simply can't respond to your conjecture about how the fanbase responded to the iPhone 4S, complaining that people wouldn't know they had the new 4S because it didn't look any different (that was a joke).

As an Android user, iOS has its advantages. Hardware standardisation is a big one, same with memory handling; it's a large reason why iOS has such a vibrant gaming scene and Droid absolutely pales in comparison.

Apple doesn't make products to last, they make 1-2 year lifecycle products. You should always buy Apple stuff knowing that in 12-18 months, a better version will be out. Besides, it's not like they screwed over iPad 1 owners by releasing the iPad 2 so soon. The differences are minimal.

And yet he wondered what I called him an apple cultist.

How about refuting some of my claims.

1. Apple does not lead in hardware power

2. Apple does not have the best camera in their phones or tablets. Infact the original Ipad didn't even have a USB port.. which defeats the purpose of having such a device.

3. Apple does not make the most reliable products.

4. Apple's products are overpriced in comparison to the competition.

Yeah, that's the brand I went with and discovered otherwise. I now regret not spending a few hundred dollars more for an Apple.

1. SPec wise, I'd say you are correct. However, I've used less powerful Apple computers that run programs better than the competition.

2. Best camera in a phone/tablet? They are all serviceable. If you want professional quality photos you buy a camera made for that, not some all-in-one device.

3. From my experience--outside of the hdd based ipods--Apple makes the most reliable products.

4. Apple products are expensive, yes, but it is a direct relation as to why they are so efficient and reliable. It is very similar as to why Nintendo is "overpriced." They both put a lot of money into R&D, instead of pushing the specs, which equals power to the consumer, they push what the product does well.

***I'm not Apple fanboy either. If you've been posting in apple related threads on this forum, you can see that I've been very critical of them. Even being called an "apple hater."

Bought an Asus gaming laptop last year as a desktop replacement; cost far cheaper then any mac equivalent by hardware standards (interestingly enough which a friend bought at a similar time). Haven't had any issues with it, runs well, has a solid international warranty, well priced etc. And on that note this isn't to say people don't have issues with their Apple computers.; over the many years I've used them, proah, there have been serious issues with the machines.

That isn't a fair poll. We both know that a large portion of Apple users are total noobs. My father bought an Apple about 4 years ago and couldn't figure out how to import a cd. I'd have to see what the calls actually relate to.

My thoughts exactly.

Apple's always going to come out with a new version very soon after the last one, so you might as well start somewhere.

My iPad 2 won't spontaniously explode when they announce the next one. and if rumours are to be believed, it will be a very small revision. I don't have another thousand to drop on Siri, retena display and slightly more power I rarely see used.

It was based on repair calls rather than tech support, unless both are the same. They also take into account need of third party assistance (something apple probably won in) and quality of parts (asus and lenovo beat apple here). BTW it's not a poll, it's data collected for 6 years.
