For those who say that PS3 will outsell XBox360 in 2008...

If PS3 sales follows so precisely XBox360 sales in its first year, why do you think it will be very different in its second year. And if you say that PS3 will have this and that game in its second year, XBox360 had games like Halo 3 too in the second year.

It looks like both XBox360 and PS3 sales are about 8 millions per year, and the trend most probably will continue.

I do not have XBox360 or PS3, so I can't be called fanboy of those consoles, if anything I am a PC gamer.

But I am quite interested to see the business side of the console wars, which means sales. So I will waste my time, as I want, looking at sales numbers and trying to project them...

The PS3 have a lot of great games coming out thats why we are certain that it will sell even better in 2008. Sony is giving free online(HOME going to be awesome), the price is more affordable for a lot of people, rumble is making its return and they have loads of EXCLUSIVE games through out 2008 and 2009 to attract people to buy the PS3. I can name 20 exclusive game on top of my head but im sure there be more games that will be announce or a few i forgot. The 360 only have like 3 to 4 games next year the ps3 should dominate.

Omg this is the exact reason I'm getting one as I previously stated. Also anyone who doesn't like another system or wants to see it's downfall is not a true gamer. A true gamer plays/tries all the best games on ALL systems and doesn't bash one because it's currently struggling. Even though that is the point of system wars but watching sales figures and what not is a bit silly to be honest. What does 1 million X360 sales have to do with you? I mean unless you are running microsoft or something, only thing that proves is that you have a large user base and doesn't prove you are the best console.

EDIT: Ps3 is a better value than the 360 but hey that's my opinion.

The difference is the games that sold 360 in 2007 were only big in the USA the games that will sale PS3 in 2008 are big WORLDWIDE.

Well 360 had no competition and PS3 is competing with two other systems at a higher price point. I think next year things will be alot better for PS3s 2nd year vs 360s 2nd year. I am calling it now PS3 will have sold at least20 million consoles by the end of next year worldwide.

Nope. I'm sure I could dig something up about Forza 3 as that was just recently in the headlines, but i'm not in the mood for it. GeoW2 is a strech hence why I put unlikely. You can take my words for it or not, your choice.

I have no doubt the PS3 will outsell the X360 for MANY reasons, which I shal list =)

1) The PS3 is very cheap now.
It's only $369 which comes with a Blu-Ray player that works upon purchase. It costs just as much as an X360 in Canada. The X360 only toppled the PS3 in sales because it came out a year before, had a good year of game while PS3 had a rocky start in the software department, and faced little competition from Sony but now the prices are equal for both consoles.

2) Blu-Ray Player:
The cheapest blu-ray player as far as I know. Again, it works upon purchase and has better movies

3) 2008 Titles and the Return of PS2 Franchises:
Some one named about 20 titles on this thread. That's 20+ reasons to buy PS3.
Final Fantasy, Killzone, God of War, etc. (Still waiting for a Kingdom Hearts announcement)

4) Free Online Play

I will however admit that I have not bought a PS3 yet because I'm still debating between the 2, and all my friends have Xbox 360s. Lets say 4 out of 5 console owner have an xbox 360 in my circle of friends.

Actually there are 2 but to be honest: pricing.

When I saw the ps3 for 600, i laughed. No one is gonig to buy it. Now it is even cheaper than the PS2 than it was at this stage. I am planning to buy a next-genconsole soon.

Also, a lot of PS2 fans are going to pick up the system soon now that they can afford it. And as well, playstation is liked worldwide, whereas xbox has seen continued failure in Japan. Once those worldwide games come out (the 20 that guy listed), ps3 sales will shoot up.

and for those ppl stupid enough to buy a blu-ray player, just tell them to buy a damn ps3!!!

I dont care what its lacking. I think every ps3 owners knows whats available. No need for all this bi:)ching about what the ps3 is lacking. I know what its lacking and I haven't bought it. However I know its gonna get the games I like so I already plan to buy it then.

I own a 360, but you guys are too narrow-minded.... The big games for the PS3 coming out next year are BIG WORLDwide. The 360 has an amazing large userbase in America, but that's about it. Final Fantasy and GT5 alone will easily match the popularity of Halo... The only reason Halo came off a such a big deal is because we are in America, and here the 360 does amazingly well.

Anyone who doesn't realize the selling power of GT5, FF, MGS, etc. in other countries does not realize there is more out there than just the two coasts you live between....

This is how it will go....PS3 will get beat up in USA by 360 and PS3 will beat up 360 in the rest of the world.

People argue over system sales as if Nintendo, Sony, or MS are actually cutting them paychecks every week. When no matter who wins in the end all 3 companies will make a profit this time around, produce great games, and come back for another gen of wars. Its all good no matter what system you own.

360 just got trounced this month by the PS3 in the "Others" category (that is all places not Japan or the USA) and it is already closing in on the sales of the 360 in the "Others" areas even though it's been out only half the time.

I disagree, the ps3 has many awsome games, so does the 360. But dont make assumptions, or do you only think a game is awsome if it gets a 9 from gamespot? if so, you are truly sad. (goes back to playing uncharted, R&C, GT5, UT3 and warhawk)

If PS3 sales follows so precisely XBox360 sales in its first year, why do you think it will be very different in its second year. And if you say that PS3 will have this and that game in its second year, XBox360 had games like Halo 3 too in the second year.

It looks like both XBox360 and PS3 sales are about 8 millions per year, and the trend most probably will continue.

Your post has absolutely ZERO logic. It is the same ignorance that people used when they said there was no possible way the Wii could ever catch up, let alone surpass, the 360 is only a year. After all, the 360 had a head start and even if it stopped selling, that still supposedly meant the Wii would have to sell a million consoles a month to catch up in a dozen years!

Oh wait. The Wii is already beating the 360 in its first year. And while 8 million a year is considered decent for Xbox, it is poor for the PS3. Also, the 360 has been out 2 years already and its monthly sales have remained at a pretty constant 200,000 or so a month in NA, easily its best market. While games like Halo 3 spiked sales for a month, they quickly drop back down to the 200,000 a month.

Meanwhile, although the PS3 is hurting, it is doing decent world wide and sales are slowly increasing in NA.

Keep in mind, that you are so proud of your msitaken belief that the PS3 will never do better because the 360 doesn't...yet the PS3 sold EQUAL its first year despite being MUCH more expensive AND having no games that people care about. Meanwhile the cheaper 360 has a very solid library even in its first year. So what do you think will happen when the PS3 becomes more affordable and finally gets its big name titles out?

This is how it will go....PS3 will get beat up in USA by 360 and PS3 will beat up 360 in the rest of the world.

The ps3 will follow the line of the ps2 not the 360.
