I pick out of a hat. To be honest, I just chose at random, sometimes if technical issues are a major problem, I'll go for the other platform. That's about it.
There usually isn't a need because my two systems are wii and PC so for the few multiplats that there are it is almost always completely obvious which one to buy,
I own all 3 consoles this gen and get whatever version is the best usually. I got RE5 on PS3 because I see that as a Playstation franchise, I started playing it on PS1 back when it was released. It was close enough to the 360 version in terms of quality that it didn't matter to me. I don'tcare for trophies or achievements so it's not that big a deal at the end of the day. I've been trying to get as many games as possible on PS3 though because I see the 360 hardware crapping out on me again in the near future, I have no confidence left in MS's ability to release reliable hardware now or ever. I think they've done so much damage to their rep with RRoD that it can't be undone.
Thats a good question considering i bought a ps3 a couple of days ago, and i only own NGS for it. But still, i guess i will have to wait until i hear about either exclusive content or graphical difference
I see if one version has exclusive content that I'm interested in.
If there is no exclusive content I'm interested in, see if one version is significantly better than the other
If they are identical or borderline identical, I go for the one I feel will make better use of either controller.
If there is no controller prefrence, I try to make my collection for either system equal, so I'll get the version for the system I have less games for.
I usually buy games that has online multiplayer for my ps3 and sometimes PC. and 360/PC exclusives depends on, if i think my PC can handle it with a decent frame rate and with out crashing. If i don't think it can handle it, I will buy it for 360(Mass Effect 2 I'm definitely going to buy for 360).
