Forget the sales, is the wii the best console this gen so far?

Screw sales, IS THE WII THE BEST CONSOLE THIS GENERATION SO FAR?

A simple yes, or no and small explanation on why or why not.

Not at all, the Wii isn't a media center like the PS3 and Xbox.

All it has are games on it's side, and other than a few great ones there hasn't been much.

I'd say no.

Is it the most innovative? Yes. Is it actively exploring new avenues for videogames? Sure. But as someone who has enjoyed videogames (specifically Nintendo ones) for the better part of the last 20 years, it's a little depressing to see "games" like Wii Fit and Wii Music becoming Nintendo's bread and butter. For my money, the 360 still easily delivers the best classic videogaming experience of this gen; it has a good selection of high quality titles, and they're not all aimed at partygoers and non-gamers. The PS3 is the best hybrid console-media player, and the Wii is the best party console. But for regular gaming goodness, I'll take the 360, all the way.

Can't play sales, there has been limited 3rd party games so far, maybe it'll change in the future, but there are no proven 3rd party games I care about.

Absolutely not.

My reason is that I have all 3 and that I haven't played the damn thing since Brawl was released, and nothing looks good at all for the Wii this holiday, except maybe Mad World.

what you dont get for the wii is HD graphics but the same problem you have on the two HD consoles ;)

I think that either: a) It hits its audience the best or b) i'm not a member of the audience the PS3/360 aims at.

I've been disappointed with every game i've purchased except Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey and Lost Planet. The only reason i'm not dissapointed in Lost Planet is because I payed like $9 for it. Nintendo has Mario, and Mario is a game you can play for years and still have fun with... and possibly not have discovered everything. I don't care about FPS games at all so there is rarely anything that interest me. Most 360/PS3 titles look fun, but like I said, i've been pissed that I actually spent $30-60 on basically every game I own. I've never had this experience with gaming before.

I know i'd like Mario, Metroid and Zelda though. Thats whats good about Nintendo. If you like Nintendo games, you will never be pissed with their systems. Thats the main reason for a hardcore gamer to buy a Nintendo. Their first party games have an interesting habit of ending up being some of the best games released that gen. And they've been doing this ever since the NES.

i do not benefit directly from it maybe later if more 3rd party's start making good game I like !

if 10 people like the wii and 5 others like the 360, then the wii is the better system even if you are 1 of those 5 !

If the Wii is this gens best, than this gen best is pretty pathetic. Besides Mario, No More Heroes, Brawl, and Metroid, whatelse does it have that is not a port of a last gen game (Okami, Resident Evil I am looking at you)?

360 has halo, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Bioshock, GTA4, Orange Box, COD4, Civ Revolution, Oblivion, Forza 2, Burnout Paradise, and more. PS3 has Assassins Creed, GTA4, MGS4, COD4, Civ Revolution, Oblivion, Uncharted, Warhawk, Burnout Paradise, and more.Lets not even discuss the PC. So is the Wii this gens best? No way.

Have you tried Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Rachet and Clank, Madden among other sports titles, and such? If you have an HDTV you should be ashamed to have your PS3 in a basement, unless the HDTV is in your basement.

Fact the first NES controller was called a gimick due to its arrows. The Rumble another first from Nintendo was called a gimick. Analog was also called a gimick. Many on this board called the DS touch a gimick.

So I hope you don't think being called gimmicky is a bad thing.
