[QUOTE="Cubs360"][QUOTE="munu9"]Here's a comparison of the 2 replay videos of GTHD and forza 2, GTHD still looks a bit better IMO, even though the GTHD vid is a bit blurry...munu9

The clarity of the Forza Pic is awesome, plus there a bunch of cars on screen and the background is full 3-D and goes for Miles. GT HD looks to plain too. The car almost looks like a toy sliding around on fake backgrounds. The Backgrounds need an improvement in GT IMO!

Cars look to plain? A lotus eclise is plain? You obviously never seen a lotus eclise in real life have you? The GT car looks more realistic than the forza one... And this is a screenshot from a video, the forza one aways keeps camera with the car so that it doesn't blur while the GT camera moves around so the pic looks a little blurry because I had to pause it...

I think the reflections on the GTHD car looks better...but then again, it's just ONE CAR. Just one being rendered. And given how subpar the details of the environment look, it's easy to tell their time was spent on getting the car to look as pretty as possible and not a whole lot else. when you look at Forza 2, you have to see more than just the car. you have to consider the processing power going into the crazy physics. the other 7 or 8 cars in the race. the impending damage modeling. the quality textures and details of the environments. it all counts for something and takes away from something. then consider 720p + AA + 60fps.

yes, the *car* in GTHD looks better, but if we added in all the things that make Forza 2 look good, would we presume GTHD's cars would still look the same? I wouldn't.

The only thing bad about the environment is the grass. There are people moving around, flags waving around and if you actually have played the actual demo, the background doesn't look half bad, it gives a good sense of depth. You can instantly access 10 different cars with at least 5 different colors each. Even though you can only use one I think it wouldn't be too much of a problem to get all of those cars at once... plus it's running at 1080p at 60fps... (though the AA needs work). GTHD is still only just a consept demo that came out a year before the actual game (GT5) So I still think, overall, GT5 will look better than forza and will have nearly the same physics (though possibly no damage modelling but WTF, why wasn't there any damage in the forza replay video?)

there was no damage because there were no accidents.

and again, I'll wait until I see GT5 do it with 7 or 8 other cars on the screen.  but yes, given that GT5 probably isn't even coming in 2007, it certianly *should* look better than Forza 2.  Forza 2 should represent the visual bar for any dev targeting a racing sim for late 2007/2008.

lastly, "color options" != 1,000 layers of car customization.  that has an effect too.

because there was no crash

and by the way damage is very important for online, people will stop making unfair moves and crashing only to take advantage.

Why are some of you acting like this owns GT HD? Its a demo of a game that will never be released and it came out a couple of months ago.Cedmln

people are comaring it to GTHD because that's what cows constantly summon to defend the PS3's best racing experience.  something like a Pokemon/Final Fantasy fight.

No, I'm just saying, damage modelling was suppose to be such an important part of the game and there was NO damage in that race! Not a scratch between any car... It was basically like a GT4 race...

AAA, textures on road and grass need work, and background buildings need more work doing to them.

skyform

Nope the textures are awesome, they look blury on some screen because of the motion blur but when you dont move they are damn crisp.

O.O that looks amazing

then be sure to send an eMail to Team Forza 2, complaining that their newly released demo video falls short of expectations because they didn't show off any accidents so that we could appreciate the effects of damage modeling.  Otherwise relax.  Demo is coming.  More videos will be released well before this game hits stores.

Because there where ai cars on track which are very intelegent, wait untill you play the game online with some noobs and you will see how improtant is the damage.

No damage is crap people make unfair moves and crash with joy only to take advantage.

If thats what Turn 10 can do in about a month, just imagine what Bungie is doing with the 2 odd years since those shots for the Halo 3 vidoc 2 were taken.

Either

A. No one got into a crash or accident

B. Damage was turned off (you can turn off every assist for the full sim or on for a borderline arcade racer)

Now that's a good picture. However, the video somewhat stutters (don't kill me, just download and watch it for yourselves).

P.S. I'm a big fan of Forza and basically can't wait for Forza2 to come out.

Yes, it has to run at 60Fps to keep up with the physics running at 360Fps. It also has 2xAA!

they do just fine at LeMans.  And I don't believe there were any Prototype-cla s s vehicles in this video.  look again.  I see a Saleen, a few Corvettes, a Pagani Zonda some non-prototype Nissan.  None of those are "prototype" LeMans vehicles.  Everything is as it should be, so far as I can tell.

Do you? You seem to have your numbers backwards. Last year's winner was an Audi R10. That car's engine has an output of 650bhp, and the 2005 winner had 600bhp. The Lingfelter Corvette is a tuned C06 with real 1000hp output... at the wheels.

Not to mention, I don't see prototypes in there.

some non-prototype Nissan.

That'll be the 1998 Nissan R390 GT1, which had a power output of 550bhp.

some non-prototype Nissan.

That'll be the 1998 Nissan R390 GT1, which had a power output of 550bhp.

welp, that ends that. ;)

On another note, the attention to detail paid to the stickers and painjob is impressive. For those who don't know, Forza uses the real painjob of real teams who raced at Le Mans. I did a google search, and it seems that in the case of the Nissan R390, they used #32

Real Car

Forza 2

Sorry for the poor screencap, didn't much mind the quality.

If thats what Turn 10 can do in about a month, just imagine what Bungie is doing with the 2 odd years since those shots for the Halo 3 vidoc 2 were taken.pundog

They actually arent that old. Bungie said so in their weekly update. They said the footage was "months old".

You people should watch a GT:HD replay and own yourselfs. This looks like crap compared to a ps3 tech demo of a game that's 1+ year away.

And i hope that's a problem with the video and not framerate trouble.

I'll buy this game since i have the racing wheel for the 360 but its graphics are far far from great. And only 8 cars.

Cars are on par with pgr3 but the background is nowhere near that launch game. I'm very dissapointed.

PS, gameplay does look great.

Don't really disagree with you on most of what you mentioned... but these two things...

1.- A "tech demo" is usually a very impressive technology showcase. GTHD is not just a high-res PS2 game. They used all the code, but they obviously redid the textures and car models (or, most probably, just used their orignal source images before they downsampled and passed the source models through a more conservative triangle stripper). So, claiming GTHD being a Tech demo would imply that GT:HD is the best PD can do with the PS3. This is a lead-up to..

2.- You claim "only 8 cars", and compare it to a game that only allows 1, GTHD.

But yeah, GTHD's car modes do look better. At least in photo/replay mode.

It's a nifty (though mostly impossible to use) feature of Forza 2. If you have several 360's with several copies of F2, you can arrange for each 360 to render one screen at different angles. I think it's up to 8 screens around you, including a rear-view mirror.

Of course, it means using up to 8 360 and 8 copies of the game, so I'm guessing it'll only be seen at events or some pay-to-play places. Us mortals will most probably be limited to 1-3 (if you can cajole friends to let go of their consoles and games) screens.

I have a feeling that there's way more power in the 360 than what i've seen so far of forza. Also imo GT4 looked way better than forza1. GT4 is the best looking game on the ps2 for me so i expect it to look much much better than what I've seen of forza2. too bad they'l probably delay it untill 2009 knowing PD.

With every new video, Forza 2 just looks better and better. All you GT fanboys should just go into hiding next month, because Gran Turismo is about to get royally pwned.

Forza Mugello 1

munu9

This pic looks Photo-Realistic. I still can't believe this game will run at 60FPS W/ 2xAA. This puts GT HD to shame, and its full 3-D.

Hold on there, don't get ahead of yourself, GTHD still looks better, at least the car models. Plus, F1: championship edition for the ps3 looks almost as good as this game...

Lol are you comparing them to these screens or hd videos because no matter how good these screens look the game looks alot better in motion, dont forget about the game running at 60fps way better physics than gthd ( how can you even call gthd a simulator?) and the reflections on the cars look awesome.

Compared to the 1 car at a time in the GTHD-demo with cardboard cutout spectators and static photos as backgrounds...

The GT-series will get the trashing of a lifetime when it appears sometime late 2008 or 2009. Because it will be compared to Forza 2 and probably fall flat in several aspects.

[QUOTE="alfy13"]crap, i cant wait til may to come. only thing i didnt like in this vid is, it doesnt seem to realistic. the proto type cars should of left the corvettes way far behind. but besides that really awesome vid.Dreams-Visions

those are souped up corvettes.  do you know what kind of modifications you can do to a basic Corvette or Viper?

do you ever watch lemans racing? those corvettes are like what 500-600hp, those proto types are lik e800-1000hp. if you ever watch lemans or any gt class racing. those prototypes leave those corvetts, porshces, in the dust. they are like almost equal to F1 cars. maybe you should research about lemans some times.

that is the reason why lemans have like 3 different classes racing at the same time. GT, And proto type .

http://www.corvetteracing.com/

they do just fine at LeMans.  And I don't believe there were any Prototype-cla s s vehicles in this video.  look again.  I see a Saleen, a few Corvettes, a Pagani Zonda some non-prototype Nissan.  None of those are "prototype" LeMans vehicles.  Everything is as it should be, so far as I can tell.

im sorry but i do not see a corvette taking out a mazda 787b which is 700hp car.  and is the only japanese prototype car to win the lemans.

if you really think the gt ****corvette can win against a 787b or a nissan  car that is in forza in real life then i let you live in your fake world.

1.- Lingfelter Corvette. 1000HP at the wheels (which is more than 1000BHP in the engine).

2.- Congratulations, there are prototype cars that have huge engines. Your point was that the Saleen S7 GT1, Pagani Zonda GT1 and  Honda R390 GT1 should pull ahead of a Corvette GT1. You're mistaken, SINCE THEY'RE IN THE SAME CATEGORY.

3.- For christ's sake, it's "Le Mans", not lemans.

4.- The 787B beat other prototypes too. What does that have to do with anything. And wasn't the 787B outlawed from racing after the 1991 season?

5.- It's a shame the 787B isn't in Forza, though. I'm a big fan of the Wankel engine (Even made a small one some time ago just for kicks, but it exploded), so running the ultimate Wankel (4-rotor? where do I sing up?!) would be blissful for me.

All it is is a pre-rendered static image of hills and mountans, and it looks really ****, car models in gt:hd are good but they move and handle so unrealisticly its hard to think this was once considered a driving sim, have the physics even been improved since gt 3?

you always hate on the 360,mine broke to and it got fixed for free, you should know the 360 is the best if you really own one. unless you have strange gaming habits

Forza 2 is looking miles ahead of GT-HD.  GT-HD being compared to Forza is an absolute joke.

I am very impressed with Forza 2, nevermind that amount you can do with the game.

Unlike what the PS3 users have to suffer with, graphically weaker motorstorm and GT-HD.  Hopefully within a year and half, they might have something to compare with Forza 2.  Until then, OWNAGE APPROVED VIDEO!!!
