No, I am saying you need an animation for it everything uses polys/textures but it is like you are saying you need like another 50k polys lol.

MC3887

maybe its animated because polyphony actually models it unlike turn 10

Or maybe they didn't have 5 years.

im pretty sure even GT4 had active aero

polyphony doesnt miss important details when they model cars

GT5 is a failure. With the budget and development time, it should be absolutely blowing F3 out of the water. The fact that it is still actually debatable is either terrible for PD or very impressive for Turn 10.

i_am_interested
what does blowing it out of the water mean? or is that another baseless claim

It means that graphically, it should not even be a debate. GT5 given the time and budget that it has should be obviously better than FM3 in every way. That fact that it is not it just well....sad.

Doesn't matter, it is still calculated in the physics, and proof GT4 has active aero? They said they did not have enough time, MS was rushing them.

twice the cars on track? check actual modeled interiors? check? physics based damage on panels as opposed to pre-damaged models? check minor detail such as active aero? check hell what about 3d? check

how do you know its calculated in physics? what about that veyron in forza reaching 170mph gave you any indication that extra downforce was being applied?

Both have modeled interiors lol

Both are 3D

Active aero is still calculated in physics

The panels stink and many have complaned I think both are pretty much pre-damage models.

Twice the cars, yes, with inferior A.I, and worse physics.

GT5 does look about as good, if not better than Forza, but Forza would look sooo much better if they had just adjusted the contrast settings.

they both have modeled interiors? is that why im seeing all these tinted windows on CPU-opponents that dont appear during the cockpit view?

both are stereoscopic 3d? so forza 3 lets you run it at 120fps?

youve proven nothing about forza's active aero or turn 10s "maybe they wont notice" approach - maybe if we dont model the aero, they wont expect the correlating physical downforce

forget the many, i see through forza predamaged model system unlike the rest, nevermind how forza lacks physics based doors, hoods, trunks, and bumpers

more missing graphical details

people have even pointed out how GT5 takes into account whether the paddle shifts are directly behind the wheel or further down the column - and how the driver makes the appropriate reaching movements for paddle shifts for specific cars

I finally played some Forza 3 today, and it is definately the best racing game out this generation. But I was not impressed by it's graphics. The environments look great, but GT5 won't be far behind.

The car details however is where GT5 shines, and with FM3 I was really disappointed, specially with the interior view. In GT5p you can tell what materials the interior is made of, while in FM3 everything looks like plastic with it's bad textures and lighting. The car models in-game are awefull compared to GT5. I enjoyed playind GT5p using the interior view, but in FM3 it just hurts my eyes.

And one more thing about the overrall graphics. I think that the colours and lighting in GT5 makes it look more realistic compared to FM3's plastic feel. A red car in FM3 looks like a toy car sometimes.

gtr

the authentic appearance of materials is a very important minor detail in GT lacking in competitors

like how the bumper cover here appears that its actually being wrapped around the bumper and not painted on

The crazy thing is cars with paddle shifters are even animated like they should be.

Like on this Gallardo.

Even at 0:27 you can see the driver puts his hand up even though he doesn't shift. Almost like he's waiting just in case he needs to downshift. That kind of attention to detail is amazing.

If we're doing a fair comparison, shouldn't we compare the demos with each other, and not a demo vs. a full game?

i love how people are comparing a full game with a demo. come onn people, you guys sound a bit too fanboyish. Whats even more sad is that the ps3 fanboys are able to withstand 360 fanboy comments with their demo and prologue.

Does GT's physics even model actual in game tire deformation? Out of all of the things being talked about in this thread that is probably the most important for a racing sim. If it does not Forza 3 automatically kills GT in the SIM aspect. Also have any professional F1 drivers played GT and commented that it was almost exactly true to life? Turn 10 invited a professional F1 driver to play Forza 3 and his Le Mans time was only two tenths of a second different then his real life Le Mans lap time, and this guy didn't have any prior experience with Forza he just sat down and drove it like he does in real life. Does it get any better than that?

If you are going to take the time out to talk down about a game that has not even been released, you could at least put some effort and/or thought into it.

Professional divers have played GT for years and they love it. The Game Designer himself (Yamauchi) is a professional driver. Heck Polyphony Digital has actually helps manufactures with there cars like the Nissan GT-R and Nissan 350Z.

there are tons of pro drivers who play GT, this is just one example.

Well first off GT5 isn't out yet, so we can't say for sure which game looks better. I still can't stress enough how important it is to look at the amount of cars racing at one time. GT5 will have up to 16 cars racing at once, which is double what you see in Forza 3. The more cars you have on the track at one time the more stress you are putting on the game's engine. Think of it this way, if each car is 500,000 polygons, that's 4,000,000 more polygons the game has to render to have those 8 extra cars. This is why NASCAR games look so poor, because 43 cars race at once. Personally, I prefer having more A.I. cars to go against over pristine graphics. Who cares how pretty a racing game looks if it's boring?

we still have to wait for GT5 to get release or else more GAMEPLAY vids are shown... However from the little i've seen it surely doesnt look like F3 has better visuals than GT5..

Still though F3 is a great all rounder, havingsolid gameplay/physics, lovely visuals & great multiplayer/community... lets hope GT5exceeds F3 in all those depts cause it would only be great news to racing games Fans..

GT5 Looks way better than Forza 3, why are we having this thread every day. Forza's car models are laughable compared to GT5's Environments are debatable, Forza's sometimes look amazing sometimes very cartoony. The feature set, no doubt GT5 offers more...950+ cars, more tracks, more championships, more cars on track, etc. Gameplay, debatable, i give the edge to GT5 after playing the new demo, but fanboys will debate this forever. Attention to detail. Way high for GT, minimal to Forza. GT5 is going to be the better game. Discussion over people.

Car models- GT5 Enviornments- Forza 3 Lighting- GT5racing1750

I would agree with this and also that Forza 3 has better sound. But Fuji is looking incredible in the recent CES footage of GT5 so the enviroment could change upon release. Also the fact that Forzas best looking tracks are fictional and we have yet to see GTs fictional tracks in HD, other then The Highspeed Ring and of course London looks great.

Both are games about the cars, and GT5's look better from the screenshots.
