[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"]I thought Forza got treated harshly. There were two years between it and Forza 3, yet it was derided for being 'too soon' for a sequel despite the gaming press drooling over every iteration of COD to vom out of activision's mouth every year. Forza 4 is hands down the best racing sim ever made. _Matt_

Different genres. With shooters it is much easier to create a fresher game in the same period of time, since a whole new story/narrative can be wrote, and gameplayt can be changed risk free.

With Forza, it is a racing sim genre, already a fairly refined genre. Moreover Turn 10 make little improvement over each of their games each time, so 2 years obviously isn't enough time for them to produce a better improved sequel.

Also in this case it really does seem Microsoft is grasping at the remaining life in the 360, rather than letting Turn 10 maybe have 3 year dev cycle and produce a Forza 5 for the next Xbox

Eh, you make one modern military shooter, you've made them all. The only real use of new versions is substantial advancements in tech 'n such, they're really a poor value for money otherwise. Short meaningless, bland, unimaginative campaigns and the same MP as the previous game.

I agree Forza shouldn't get another version on the 360, it should be a 720 launch, much much much better idea.

FM4 could easily last me 4 years or more  really, it's the best Driving game evah and a travesty of a review pffft, if FM4 isn't AAA, (I's say AAAAE ) no game is :P so I'd rather they make a PGR5 and make the next Forza be a sorta MMO Forza World where you're always on-line and can take to the open city streets anytime and just about anywhere you like just crusin and showing off your rides or some good old fashion racing.

By the time forza 5 launches 4 will be 2 years old man :P decent dev cycle, new tracks, new features, improve physics models etc.If anything i dont mind the 2 year system of Forza to the skittish and random one polyphony have with GT5.

razgriz_101

Hmm, I am far from being convinced. The improvement between Forza 2 and 3 in 2 years made 3 not worth buying for owners of 2. The improvement between 3 and 4 which while much more noticable than previous improvement, it was still a minor upgrade.

New tracks, better physics etc, they can all be implemented in patches or even paid dlc, those sorts of things just do not (to me) justify the need for a whole new game).

I prefer the 2 year dev cycle to PD's weird dev times with Gran Turismo, but I would much much prefer it if Turn 10 had 3 year dev cycles over 2.

More to the point, the 360 is coming towards the end of it's life, I highly doubt Turn 10 will put much effort into the improvement of the engine if they may end up just making a new engine for next gen anyway, this just seems like MS's last ditch effort to get more 360 sales.

3 was a massive improvement graphically and playability over 2 :S

hmm, I disagree, it looked a little better than 2 yes, but the gameplay was almost identical.

Valid point, military shooters are old hat now. I was more meaning the "new" thing with each passing shooter is the story, racing games (especially in the sim genre), have no such luxary of being able to change a story, so need more time to make more significant changes to be worth a purchase.

And yes, you are very very correct, shooters are poor value for money, especially compared to some racers, I just feel that Forza 5 will not be significant enough of a sequel. Unless of course Turn 10 prove otherwise.

Since the first Forza dropped and blew GT out the water, i've been a massive fan. However, even I didn't bother getting Forza 4 - it just doesn't seem to offer enough over Forza 3.

It would make sense as an Xbox 3 launch game. Other than that, i dont see what Turn10 could improve from forza4.

Racing is the only genre that comes very close second to FPS. Can't wait.

Two words.

Franchise fatigue.

I love Forza but I don't need yearly releases. Come on guys. Take some time off to really focus on making the series better than it already is and then come back with something fresh and new.

So Porsche is coming back to Forza 4. And because they couldn't get the license back in time for retail release, it will now cost you $20 to get content that was most likely already done but dropped because of licensing issues. http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/en-us/porsche_expansion_announce/ *wants to get GT5*

I am fine with a Halo and Forza every year. Good franchises. We get a new Call of Duty every year and at least 2 mario games. I do not see a big deal. People claim Microsoft has no exclusives and yet when they release sequals to the best driving game this gen and the best console FPS of all time...people complain. Dumb Dumb Dumb. Not to mention 2 Fable games (yes not looking good) and we just got another Alan Wake.

Microsoft is releasing good games right in front of your eyes. Morons.

WarTornRuston

But, not all of these milked exclusives are ALL good. Speaking in general.

Wow...already lost faith in Forza 4 to not support it anymore?

There will be 4 Forza sim games for the xbox360 for crying out loud.....Whatever they are doing to 5...I'm 100% sure they could just patch it in or release it as DLC for a fraction of the cost.

But I suppose why do that and charge people for the full 60 right?

NodakJo2010

Huge Forza 4 expansion coming out this spring.

Seriously, Horizon is a completely different beast. Who cares what its called - call it MS Race-a-roni, it's just branding.

[QUOTE="PinnacleGamingP"][QUOTE="LovePotionNo9"]Hard to keep up with all these damn sequels.randomguy15

sounds like x=5 in this case

Like GT5? If sony exclusives were making up to 5+ sequels you'd be ok with it, but when it happens with Microsoft you're ignorant fanboyism drivel spews.

Gran Turismo five numbered sequels since 1997 Forza five numbered sequels since 2003.

The difference is there are about 2 Gran Turismo games per console, and they are spread out. Forza has had 3 games already in this generation alone.

That means nothing compared to all the mario's, or spinoffs of other franchises. And also there has been 3 Uncharted's and Gears of War this gen as well. The thing is Forza, Gears, and Uncharted have all been quality games, all 3 of them in all 3 fanchises. So just because there have been 3 Forza's this gen alone means nothing.

considering they are trying to sell porche dlc for forza 4 instead of giving to gamers for free in forza 5? IT IS A BIG DEAL!!!!uncharted 3? its a story driven game hollow. the whole point of new racing sims is NEW CARS!!!! SO THEYRE SELLING NEW CARS ON FORZA 4 AND COMING OUT WITH FORZA 5?? WHAT A JOKE YOUR A JOKE MICRONUTS

Polyphony is completely open when they say its not a complete game though...Like Gran Turismo HD or GT Prologue.

All in all I'm not so sure they even think Gran Turismo 5 is a whole game...which is arguable with many people.
