Poll Forza Motorsport 6 vs. Gran Turismo 6 (84 votes)

GT6 26%
FM6 74%

OK gaming fans, with the release of Forza 6, GT and Forza are on even ground. Which 6th entry of each franchise is better? (sales excluded)

@undefined:

I don't see how they're on even ground. Fm has had 2 installments on current gen while gt has had 0.

FM was already better than GT6 with the last gen efforts. FM6 only widens the gap.

I can't lie. The reason I even know what an apex of a turn is, weight transfer and so on is because of GT on the original playstation. I put many hours on into that game but it just never progressed with time. Kept the same formula, no damage, no customization ect.

FM on the other hand has everything you could want in a racer. Including an open world version of it. I don't see the competition. GT will be good I'm sure but it won't have all the options FM does. At least it's worthy for PS4 Owners who really don't have any good racing games. (from what I've heard and read).

Why would you compare an old PS3 game to a new XB1 game?

Driveclub is great so far. Terrible launch, but it's a good middle ground racer between sim and arcade.

@polishkid99: Aside from the graphics, Driveclub is not a very good game IMO. The driving physics and controls are not the best (especially at high speeds). Also, the 30 fps really hurts the game to the point where it is distracting and kills immersion.

Graphics are amazing. It's not the best game, it is fun though. I enjoy beating my own lap times on it a lot.

No 1st hand experience, eh? You shouldn't go by what you hear and read about machines you don't have, as it's anecdotal. It's just like a rumor, you have to go to the source to eliminate bias, agendas, and misinformation. It's like when someone says GeoW Ultimate for Xbone is terrible based on what they heard and read about on a machine they don't own. Take it with a grain of salt. I would just refrain on posting misinformation is you aren't sure. For instance there are actually good racing games on PS4, Wii U, and Xbone. Owners of each of these machines of course know there are "good racing games" on their platform, but non-owners are subjected to random fanboy hyperbole and misinformation posted by fanboys in an effort to justify their purchases. There have been plenty of other people that have said the PS4 does have good racing games, so you posting what you have read and heard is not scientific nor even worth even posting as it's easily proven to be a false. Your post does serve to promote your preferred platform, but it also exposes that you read and hear seemingly what you might want to read and hear.

I will get this out of the way right now: I would say that as of right now, the Xbone has more quality racing games than PS4, for sure. However, the PS4 has more quality fighting games than Xbone. It's a give and take per genre, but both machines have quality fighting games and racing games. Each platform has their strengths as time marches on.

To answer you, here are just some good racing games that do indeed exist on PS4.

Keep in mind to negate your misinforming claim that the PS4 doesn't have "any good racing games" I only need to provide proof of just ONE good racing game. I will submit 4 so called "good racing games" so you can clearly see there are in fact good racing games on the platform you don't own. That said, the Xbone is a good machine and so is the Playstation. If you like racing, as of now the Xbone has that edge for sure, but facts are facts.

Moto GP 14 (not even on Xbone)

Moto GP 15 (not even on Xbone)

Need For Speed Rivals 8/10 (same score as Forza 6)

Project Cars 8/10 (Same score as Forza 6)

Drive Club unfortunately has a 71/100 at metacritic (much like Xbone's first Forza 5 got a lower 79/100 metascore) but sadly Driveclub was shipped in a broken state much like the Halo Masterchief Collection. Two quality games that have lower scores at Gamespot.com (Halo MCC = 6/10, Driveclub 5/10) and many other gaming sites, but are in much better condition now than they were at their launches due to many patches.

Also, this is worth noting:

Looks like a PS2 game next to Driveclub. Is that really Forza 6?! Wow, they definitely could use more dev time.

Comparing a bare racetrack (that is authentic) with overcast weather vs. a scenic highway with cinematic lighting, elevation changes and camera shakes for arcade effect is not a fair comparison. Also, what is up with the camera in DC? So hard to see what lies ahead on the road. Especially when braking and it zooms in.

Flopza looks like shit dude, don't try to damage control for it. Why does the car in Flopza look like it's floating? How is that in any way realistic, and why does the car not have any reflections either?

Driveclub looks better for the cost of 60fps, 24vs12 cars on track, fantasy tracks with great level design vs boring looking tracks & simple physics compared to forza. But that doesn't mean it looks that better just look it can look bad to(view in fullscreen)

The car is barely turning and it is on a flat stretch. There are no objects nearby to reflect coupled with the overcast sky. Watch some other videos of Forza 6 in the rain and you will see that the reflections are there if objects are near. Also, you will see the car will be a lot more active when turning or elevation changes. That GIF sequence is a worst case scenario for sure. FM6 looks great, feels great and runs at 60 fps. DC looks great and that is it.

Reflections look horrible bro, and not only that the cars lack good shadows and look like they are floating. It's an embarrassment.

I know they were trying to go for 60fps but even Project Cars didn't have floating looking cars and it runs at 60 too.

@quadknight: Project Cars tries to run at 60fps, but fails miserably. Unless of course you are playing it on PC where the game is great.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_e8znN_hLs

Looks pretty good to me except for the other cars not generating a big splash when going through the big puddles.

I'm talking about both. Project Cars runs 60fp smostly on PS4 except for in a few times where it drops slightly I'd hardly call that "failing miserably" and the cars don't look like they are floating during gameplay like Flopza's.

It's operating at 60 FPS, Driveclub is at 30, what do you guys not understand about that literally doubling the rendering costs, it's twice as much to render....

Funny because I played the demo and it didn't look like that. Also that looks like a drive club car because those cars hover not Forza 6 cars.

They got the same score in reference to their respective console generations only.

The thread is for stirring purposes only.

@SolidTy: I understand where you're coming from but I was referring to sim racing games since FM6 and GT are sim racers. Keeping it based on simmracing, the Xbox one has the superior SIM. All those other "racing"'games are fun.. Not taking away from them. Also, I don't let people/reviewers persuade my views on games but if the majority of the reviews are garbage then I'm not taking a chance on the game. They aren't cheap. Actually, I bought the witcher 3 based on its great reviews and I hated the game. Was so blah to me.

GT6 is GT4 with nice graphics.

FM6 is bleeding edge in every department.

GT7 better impress or the franchise is going to die.

It begs the question that perhaps Turn 10 could benefit from a longer development cycle.

Another exciting game is the upcoming Need for Speed Reboot coming later this year.

I was only coming from there because of what you posted. You didn't say 'sim' racing games, you just said, "PS4 Owners who really don't have any good racing games based on what you heard and read (aka not experienced).

That said, it doesn't seem like you read my post I wrote for you as I included three "sim" racers in my post, one especially note worthy sim racer being Project Cars:

Moto GP 14 (not even on Xbone)

Moto GP 15 (not even on Xbone)

Project Cars 8/10 (Same score as Forza 6)

Project Cars (LINK) especially is a sim racing game.

Again, your post still isn't accurate whether you meant 'sim racers' or just racers, because the PS4 owners have Project Cars to play which is a sim racer.

As far as your situation with Witcher 3, it could have been avoided if you find specific reviewers that have your taste and go on those recommendations as opposed to trusting anonymous reviews. That's what I've done for a decade+ as well as trusting personal friends. I don't trust any anonymous reviews.

It's probably been decades since I bought a physical retail game that I didn't like. My system works well.

You seem like a good guy so I'll tell you what I do.

  1. I follow developers I trust (CD Projekt RED developed Witcher 3 for instance and I knew their work since Witcher 1),
  2. I follow reviewers I trust (not game sites, but rather names of reviewers),
  3. I listen to friends I trust.

Maybe you might look into following a similar system if you want to avoid buying full priced over HYPEd games based on random s-called 'great' reviews. Also, remember that no matter how great certain movies, games, and books are...they aren't for everyone.

I'm sure you've heard some great music that you didn't necessarily like (perhaps classical) and while you might respect it's fantastic music, it's not "your cup of tea".

In a perfect world, we could try every game/read every book/watch every TV show and movie, but we don't have time for that as you well know.

@protomicroman Whose alt are you then?

Lemmings still trying to prop up Furtzuh, a series no one cares about.

I'm curious, does it not being particularly popular somehow diminish that it's a quality series?

@SolidTy I didn't want to quote your enormous post, but you're actually wrong in saying that MotoGP 15 isn't on the XB1, as its sitting in my console right now.

@i_p_daily:

The point was just to list racing games that exist on PS4 which I accomplished as that other user said "good racing games" didn't exist on PS4, but it was my mistake when formatting my answer, as what you caught was a copy/paste typo when constructing that enormous post. I hurredly copied the line "Moto GP 14 (not even on Xbone)" and quickly pasted it and changed the "4" to a "5" without deleting the parenthesis. Moto GP 14 isn't on Xbone, but yes Moto GP is on Xbone. Both Moto GPs are on PS4 though.

Thanks for the heads up, I wish I could fix it but Gamespot.com implemented lousy editing limitations that prevent a fix for such typos. These new editing problems are really terrible for anyone constructing an information thread or HYPE thread for the future.
