What's the best approach to counter this? We don't really have a social outlet defending gaming. I suppose we have Geoff Keighley (Can't believe I spelled his last name correctly with a blind guess, and not his first name.)
Should we have a news source about Fox programs labeling real humans, unlike videogame characters, as sex symbols or so?

Taken straight from MSNBC..... The reason Fox aired this is because the majority of Americans are center right politically. They are pandering to their audience. I agree they are target the most conservative people with this crap, but it's all about ratings. And Fox is first by a large margin. Televised news is no longer about news, it's about making money.

I hate Fox News. They made controversy of "alien sex" in Mass Effect, so I was like so hyped up for the sex scene with Liara only to be disappointed by lack of anything remotely inappropriate. They deceived me. Liars. :(funsohng

Firstly, Gearbox couldn't have asked for better advertising. After all, they paid absolutely nothing for it.

Criticizing Duke Nukem for things that are crass and offensive is like scrutinizing Buckaroo Banzai for scientific inaccuracies.

But at least be coherent and thorough with your criticism then. What about all that animal cruelty/hatespeech against the police? Brandishing of firearms? Vandalism? Destruction of property? Murder? Flinging turds? That Duke guy is totally into all that criminal activity stuff. But oh no, he slaps buttocks. Obviously we can not stand for the portrayal of such heinous behavior as it is hurtful to women since the adult males playing DNF will be influenced by it and start exhibiting misogynistic tendencies, or something. It is scientifically proven.

Young minds are more easily influenced, which is why this game is not supposed to be exposed to them. Much like anything else of any media featuring inappropriate content, which can also be purchased online. But who cares about other media? Games are digital devil juice poisoning the minds of our children.

If you think adults slapping digital buttock in a game intended to be humorously crass will have such an ill effect on society then we might as well just ban everything.

I think Duke is going to create about as many misogynists as GTA created carjackers. There's the argument that it's easier to push someone over the threshold to commit a buttslap than to fling a turd. But I would argue that the threshold for a drawn penis is even lower than both a buttslap and a turdfling. I do not expect people to draw more penises or fling more turds than usual after June 10th.

Also Rob Fahey of Eurogamer mentions that jackasses on Xbox Live and co. are getting catered to and receiving more ammunition to fuel their jackass behavior. I do not understand why this is a thing one should be concerned about. Would it really matter if they were to vary up their homophobic and racist slurs with more frequent use of misogyny? That crowd doesn't need encouragement or inspiration from games to behave they way they do.
