Franchises that should just give up already!

I have three that come to mind:

Sonic- Poor Sonic. I mean honestly, the guy was an icon back in the day and just can't seem to catch a break in the 3-D world. I think he has long since been dead and is simply being held up by nothing more than strings and his own name.

Dynasty Warriors/Warriors Orochi/Anything Koei makes- Why do people keep buying these games? Honestly, they never improve or change in any monumental way. Every fan of the series, do yourselves a favour and purchase one of these games and stop there. You won't be missing out, I promise

Guitar Hero- I listed off every Guitar Hero themed game to my friend the other day and he literally thought I was making them up off the top of my head. How about you guys take a hint from Harmonix and use DLC properly instead of making a new game every month.

No franchise, and I mean NO franchise should give up. They should spend a little more time and effort, find out what the people want, and improve.

Sonic games need to be either 2d or they should make a pure 3d sonic game. And by this I mean no being tails, or knuckles. No guns and cars. No werewolves, swords, or RPG elements.

Guitar Hero is making too much money for its own good and they are releasing too many. They should just spend more time on each one and not make another until they come up with a new idea that would really add to the game and until then just release DLC for what they've made so far.

not sonic just bring him back 2d and he'll be fine the 2d gba and ds titles are great.

guitar hero I doubt that will die it's selling great and I see them making a michael jackson guitar hero in the future which will sell really good.

I agree, like a Shadow Complex 2D/3D, would be sick to get back to its side-scrolling roots.

I would not go that far..

The Legend of Spyro series - They need to go back to what made Spyro so good.

3D Sonics - Sonic Unleashed (minus) the werehog stuff would be amazing.

Final Fantasy - that's just too much.

Then MGS4 is just as bad. Halo ODSt and Reach is a fanservice and more people who read the books, respectivly.

The jump from HALO 1 to HALO 2 was big, but from HALO 2-3 nothing vast. They where basically the same with minor touched up mechanics. Regardless, many HALO fans still consider HALO 1 to be the best one. I'm not really talking about the main games directly. HALO Reach and ODST in paticular, come on. The fight got finished already. The HALOs got destroyed? Their just milking it to plunder more money out of HALO fans. At this rate there will be more HALO than there is Mario. Why would anyone want Halo to live on into the future is beyond me. Crossel777

Final Fantasy..Ok, there is no possible reason for this many sequels, now ive only played a few, (a little bit of 10 to be exact), and it was a pretty ok game, but what in the hell entices people to buy so many of these games?, I know, I know, the stories are great and the gameplay is fun, but really?...really?...13 of them?, and a 14'th one on the way (MMO but still..).

And Of course, the stallion of suck.

Sonic...just stop..or please remake Adventure 1 and 2 HD and put them on XBLA and PSN..

iirc Final Fantasy X-2 is the only sequel in the series so far.

I would personally like to see Halo die after Reach. Call of Duty is getting old. I agree about Sonic.

Halo (I played Halo 3 and it was awful.)

Guitar Hero (GH3 and Aerosmith where less fun than being shot.)

Call of Duty (It's had a good run, but every game eventually has to die.)

I honestly don't understand this arguement one bit. Every Final Fantasy game is different with the exception of spin-offs. FF games have different characters, different stories, different worlds, and some sort of different gameplay mechanics. The only things the entries in this series share are the name and the genre. Maybe they shouldn't have named them all Final Fantasy games but either way they are different games, not all direct sequels or even related at all in most cases.

To get back on topic, I think that as long as a franchise has fans, they shouldn't give up. Halo shouldn't be killed off yet because it has a lot of fans and people love the online multiplayer. Mario shouldn't be killed off because he is still a major influence in gaming and he is a perfect example of how far gaming has come. Plus his games are still introducing new, innovative mechanics and are still fun for people of all ages to this day. Call of Duty and Guitar Hero shouldn't be killed off because people enjoy them and giving them new songs/ guns and maps is what most people want. The same goes for many games. Just because you personally don't like a franchise doesn't mean it should just be killed off. It's not fair to the loyal fanbase that their franchise be killed off and they never get to enjoy the gameplay or the story or whatever it is that makes the game great to them.
