Microsoft wasn't lying when it said Project Natal kits were rolling out to its development partners. Farrell told me his company's been experimenting with the technology for a little while now.

"Oh yeah, we've had kits for some time," he said.

"I don't know how long [we've had them] -- 4 , 6 weeks, however long they've been available,"he continued. "I'm not at liberty to talk about exactly what we're doing, but kind of like when we first got the Wii kits, some key development people are going 'okay, what can we do that's really cool here?' So, stay tuned."

What hasn't arrived in THQ's mailbox yet, however, are development kits for the motion technology Sony was showing at E3. Farrell said THQ has only "had discussions" with Sony about the rollout plans, and "don't have any of the actual, hands-on dev kits yet."

do you think Sony could manage to release the motion controllers by Spring 2010 before Natal?

i don't think the paradigm shift is as great with the PS3's motion controler.

it is basicly object tracking with the eye toy and a wiimote

They could, but i'm not really sure.

IDK but it's certainly not what I wanted from gaming.

I doubt a Third-Party is going to be the first to take a chance on Natal. I would expect them to wait t'il MS releases stuff and see how that sells. No point in starting to make a game if it isnt going to sell.

Sony has already said that Devs are experimenting with the Sony Wand. Sony could definitely release the Wand in the Spring.

I would assume the dev need to work with Natal early to get a feel for the tech. I don't really expect the PS3 motion sensing to be all that big though quite honestly.

why does everyone seem to care about this motion crap? what about games?

Yeah Natal and wand sound good, it's whats making Nintendo money, but at what cost? Simple rail shooters, fling your arms for attacks, and etc. Yeah Nintendo games are fun, but not very deep or story driven. (Besides No More Heroes, because Suda 51 is awesome). MS and Sony are going after the causal market with over priced and complex hardware for the casual.

What house mother will be on Live playing Natal. I grandfather would fiddle with Blue Ray in the retirement center?

Experimenting? They should be 100% in production right now if they wanna release the thing in spring 2010.

Yeah, lets just stop trying because Nintendo has weak games on their system. God forbid someone try it from a different angle.

Sony better hurry and get the wand in the devs hands. Knowing Sony, the API for the Sony Wand is going to be overly complicated and slow to develop for. Developers are going to need time to harness the powah of teh Wand!

First, Second and Third Party Devs. Sony alone has around 20 first party devs.

They could patch older games to use the motion controller while specific games are being made.

Both will fail, so it doesn't matter.

Unless thier bundled well and priced cheap. Then thier might be a chance. Very, very slim

Sound like NATAL games may be rolling out sooner than I assumed (fall 2010). Who knows though? Getting them out sooner may mean more time to work with a more complex and different interface than Sony's, which still has controllers and buttons, so may be easier for the devs to wrap their heads around. If Sony wants a spring 2010 release and much 3rd party support, they'll need to get the tech into dev's hand soon.

THQ is one of many devs. For all we know they might be receiving theirs soon while others have already gotten the prototype wand. I don't see where it says that other devs haven't gotten the wand yet.

I'm sorry but i just don't see Natal being anything except just a minigame application... maybe racing too, but that's it

I honestly don't understand this drive for motion controls.. The PS3 is already capable of using the best proven motion control to this date, that is the MOUSE and keyboard.. The Wii's motion control was great in theory but it has really only worked well for a handful of games imo.. Lets face it one of the limiting factors on systems like the Xbox360 and PS3 is some genres like RTS's are forced to be dumbed down or slowed down to catter to the limited controls.. Not to mention some genres just do not work on the said gamepad at all like the majority of MMOs...

Even for racing, any one serious in the genre will have a high grad steering wheel.. And will never use the motion controls.. While for the average player most likely will just stick to the gamepad.

you misunderstand who MS is targeting with natal. They are going after people would won't or can't use a controller or a racing wheel.

So it's either THQ is lying about Sony still "discussing" plans to roll out the dev kits, or Sony lied at E3.

And since common sense usually associate the lier with the one gaining the most from the lie.. it's interesting to see your common sense lead you to believe Sony.
