Game Informer says Call of Duty 4 is the best FPS they have EVER seen.

Who all has read the new cover story article in the new Game Informer regarding Call of Duty 4? I just got my issue in the mail today, and was blown away with the in engine gameplay screens, and details of the game. Game Informer said that it is the best FPS that they have EVER seen....period.

"Anything that runs under 60 FPS will be thrown out", according to Infinity Ward. An example being, even with unbelievably lifelike grass physics swaying in the wind in the middle of intense battles, enemies, gunfire, shrapnel, explosions all around, the frame rate is supposed to remain smooth as silk at 60 FPS, and no less. The shadowing, lighting and textures are all incredible, and absolutely some of the best that GI has seen, and THE BEST PERIOD in a FPS....and I agree, based on what I have seen thus far. 

Who would wish for a dumbed down version of Crysis on a console, when we can look forward to this baby instead? It looks overall to be a WAY more exciting game than Crysis does to me. That is just my opinion, and personal preference of course. Crysis looks great, but reminds me of a prettier, and advanced version of FarCry without the claws a bit too much. And the graphics in COD4 more than hold their own in my opinion, as they are looking simply fantastic in every regard. It is still early, yes, but it is looking MIGHTY good already. 

Infinity Ward said that they are "really trying to push the envelope with FPS storytelling." It is not going to be based on current conflicts, instead, Infinity Ward said that they "wanted to avoid politics, as well as allow themselves room for a little more creative freedom". They said, "We are going to give players a robust enemy, that uses high/modern tech warfare just as the Western powers do, and will give them a real run for their money" as a result.

"It will be set against a Russian Warlord with ties to the Russain mafia, and old oil money as the main villian. His name will be Zakhaev, and he will be masterminding a military coup in an as of yet unnamed middle eastern country simply to distract the Western powers while he consolidates his power in Russia. The story will start with the first recon missions by the U.S. marines deploying in the unnamed middle eastern country in response to the coup, and it quicky will grow into a massive look into what a large-scale war would llike tommorow using todays technologies." GI goes on to also say that there will be plenty of theaters within this game, taking place in various regions....one great aspect of COD that will remain unchanged....only enhanced greatly.

I do not know about you guys, but this game is shaping up to blow COD 2, 3, and games like Ghost Recon away, and in my opinion, and agreeing with Game Informer, COD4 is so far looking like the best FPS war game that I have ever seen as well. Time will tell, as more info on this bad ass looking/sounding game comes in. Cannot wait.

They are still fun, but I am getting sick of them as well. Definitely the right move by Infinity Ward making it modern. The game just looks incredible, man.

Have you even seen any footage or screens of this game? And how can it not be "fresh"? They have revamped the whole series, and brought it up to modern times, with modern warfare, against an entirely new enemy, with new and unbelievable effects, new AI, advanced physics, and stellar graphics. High production all the way around. And if Game Informer slaps it on the front cover as their featured cover story, with the headline underneath saying that it is "the best FPS that they have ever seen", then you have to kind of take that to heart just a little, don't you think? 

How is Crysis so "fresh" other than the new bad ass crytech engine? It looks great, sure, but at least I am not going to have to fork out over a grand plus, just to be able to play it right, lol. Have fun, man. Also, it still does not make COD4 look bad, as nothing about COD4 is even remotely close to looking bad, therefore, not even "tEh aLmIgHtY CrYsis" can make it look bad. If it looks good, it looks good....period, and even though it may not be quite on par with Crysis, it still is looking incredible in it's own right. I wouldn't take on a Hermit about Crysis...seriously. I'm saving $400+ so my PC can run it, but ccasting doubts on Crysis to a Hermit is like saying something blasphemous in front of a nun. Both will come at you with a stick and beat you to a pulp.

I never said it could, I merely said that IT CAN HOLD IT'S OWN, and still remain looking great, as it does indeed look great, so how can it look bad? See what I am saying? Also, I said that for me personally....COD4 looks like a more interesting game. One that I personally would enjoy more, based on my personal preferences.

I do know one thing though. Is it not getting just a bit redundunt to throw Crysis out there everytime a good looking game comes out for a console in order to try and discredit it? That is why I brought it up in the first place by the way. We know that Crysis looks great, but give credit where credit is due, man. All I said is that COD4 (along with other games as well) can simply hold it's own next to Crysis in still looking good beside it, even though it is not as advanced.

Hell, even Uncharted: Drake's Fortune looks good beside Crysis. Again, I know that Crysis looks better of course, but there are indeed games being developed that can still look great next to Crysis. That was all I was inferring. And also, that these games do not deserve to be discredited just because they fall short of friiggin' Crysis graphics. It does not mean that they look horrible, or that they suck. I am not accusing you either by the way, just speaking in general about those who do such things.

I just hope it's as good as the original Call of Duty.

The original was great; the second was still good, but not as good; and the third--made by Treyarch--was bad compared to the previous two. Now that Infinity Ward is back behind the wheel, I have high hopes for CoD4.

Actualy the only news so far is that it's PC exclusive :) Of course it could change, but still. I just find it funny how jeleaus lemmings are of Crysis. they can't make even one thread about promising 360 FPS without trying to bash Crysis. Sad.

Dude you aren't fooling anybody. COD2 was great on the PC and I remember you saying that. Infinity Ward makes great games. It's going to the 360 too because that is where the money is since COD2 sold better on the 360 I think. Anyway I can't wait to see more of this game this summer. Crysis might look better but will it play better than COD4?

so now you're resorted to making stuff up? Pathetic. THe only moment where I could praise CoD2 is if it would be compared to Treyarch's CoD games, but that's it. I always bashed CoD2 for being very dissapointing compared to CoD1 and most of all to Unnited Offensive

It did. The funny thing is that original CoD for PC sold more than Cod2 and Cod3 combined on all platforms :)

Can you read? I assume you can, therefore I would recommend reading the opening post in this thread. Or maybe that's just to much work for you. I guess that's the case here, which is preety sad, because if you would you might had noticed that it was the first post that compared CoD4 to Crysis and bashed the latter. I'm just responding to that.

I really like Game Informer for their exclusive's. That being said, I also realise that those exclusive articles are pretty much a PRpackage.

I trust that Infinity ward will make a fantastic shooter, but I don't read GI for their journalistic "integrity", thus anything they say about a game is completely void until I get more details later on... I'm not bashing GI, I just know what they really are.

Im about to sound like a sheep.... but whatever point needs to be made.

People need to stop hyping crysis so much.  there I said it.  Bottom line is so far all this game has going for it is graphics and physics.   We have not seen much in terms of story @ all.   So far the offical hype for this game is EASILY VERY HIGH AAA to AAAA the way people have been hypeing it, console fanboys and PC fanboys alike.  And the bottom line is this game could flop hard still, cause if it lacks in the story dept, it could end up being a snooze fest, and just another shooter, with pretty graphics. 

And in my opinion, so far the Main characters suit may look and sound cool when you read about it, but having to constantly change between powers ( like the videos of the guy fighting the choppa ( GET TO THE CHOPPA ! )) I think its gonna get annoying and im pobably gonna end up leaving it on 1 thing 3/4 the time and only change when I have to.

Yes COD4 looks awesome, but I love both WW2 and Modern Combat so either setting would have been fine by me.   But this game does look amazing, and I simply can't wait for it.

Game Informer is an unabashed shill publication for the Gamestop/EB empire and as such overrates games and generally does whatever is possible to help move titles out the the brick and mortar stores. Still a pretty good mag and all you just have to have some perspective when reading it.Riverwolf007

Say what you want about Game informer, they get the best exclusives. And if they were saying Crysis was the best they had ever seen people wouldn't be complaining.
