I think Halo 3 is a solid game thats been finished to the best that Bungie or any dev could ever do, however its not going to be the best FPS this year. Orange Box is literally the best single game package there has ever been, its immense in quantity and we all know it'll deliver on quantity. Portal will be an enjoyable romp but most Valvians will be super-stoked to own a full copy of Team Fortress 2 and HL2 Episode 2.

Mass Effect is going to be what Halo wished it was, a super-vast expansive universe just waitin' to be shot up where you hop from planet to planet with an actual purpose and a plot that is unquestionably more deep than any other game coming out this year or next. Stunning graphics and lip-syncing only comparible to Half Life 2, this game will be easy on the eye. And with 6 years of development behind it, this new IP looks like its gonna be finnished to the standard we'd expect of patient developers like Valve (i like Valve don't I!!!)

Crysis gameplay is drastically underated, Far Cry 2 is already taking leafs out of Crytek's books in terms of graphics and gameplay. This game has established a lasting impression way before its released. Gamers upgrading to DX10 in anticipation and gawping at the gameplay vids in hi-res as if it were a portal into another dimension.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed will be a hit with casuals and harcores alike. Its like Hitman meets parkour but in ancient times doesn't begin to personify the magnitude of possibilities in this game.

But whatever GOTY is, i think we'll all be happy gamers

Well, from GameSpot, it sort of does equal.

Gears of War (9.6), GOTY.

Resident Evil 4 (9.6) GOTY.

Wind Waker (9.3) GOTY. (although GTA: Double Pack got 9.6, it was for games that already came out, therefore doesn't count)

Metroid Prime (9.7) GOTY.

2004 was the only year the highest score was not GOTY (San Andreas: 9.6, WoW GOTY: 9.5)

Mass Effect will most certainly be amongst the elite titles. And I also think Assassins Creed and Call of Duty 4 both have an outside chance.

And Unreal 3 wont be released on 360, PC or PS3 until sometime in the first quarter of 2008.

Bioshock or Unreal Tournament 3.

Bioshock is the best game released this year so far.

I still think Assassins Creed could surprise us, mabye.
Also, it seems every critic/reviewer love Call of Duty 4 to death and it got many E3 awards ect, including Gamespot. If Halo 3 has a shot, so should this game.

World In conflict is an RTS.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllls no it ain't. O yea, I'm gonna say Mass Effect.

As much as I don't want to see an FPS take the crown, I'd say Orange Box. All three games look like AAA titles, with another AAA title and it's sequel included, five high-ranking games for the price of one, stellar multiplayer and single-player...I personally think it's a shoo-in.

its still hard to tell because many of the contenders aren't out yet.

i doubt it will be Halo 3, but it will be in the finals.

i'm banking on SMG or ME. i just can't decide which one....

It will probably be Halo 3, since according to every game reviewer it was graced by the touch of God, yet I struggle to get as much enjoyment out of it than 'that'.

I'd like to see Super Mario Galaxy, or Bioshock / Half life 2 : Episode 2 (least likely imo)

Game Reviewers feel the game was touched by the grace of God? Maybe here , but overall no, take a look at GameRankings as Halo 3 slides below LoZ: WindWaker, Bioshock, and even Halo 2 and Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 ;).

I don't see why Crysis isn't being listed more. Is it just because these forums are filled with Halo fanboys? I'll agree that Halo 3 might be a great game but it doesn't really do anything new. Crysis actually tries to bring next gen graphics and next gen environments for the FPS genre

best version of ut 3 is still coming out this year. if they rate HL 2 :OB as one game, then it has a good chance. otherwise crysis.
