Game of the year so far? (Poll included)

In my poll, I've only included games that are widely considered to be AAA- ( they have recieved a score of 9or above on most sites and mags, such as Ratchet, Bioshockand Halo 3).

Also in the 'other' option of the poll please state which game and why. You can choose any game,EXCEPT for remakes/ports. So that means that Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3)and RE4 (Wii), although they're brilliant, don't count.

Pokemon Diamond for me.

Its got to be bioshock for me - its one of the only games I have played that deserves a 10

10 to me does not = perfection, its means this is about as good as a game can be, so yeah it was def a 10. Its one of the most interesting, atmospheric and gritty shooter/action games I have ever played.

Im with this guy, we still have high contendors on the way COD4, Mass Effect, SMG.

On GS, it's going to be Halo 3.


But box should win.

So far, BioShock. But we still have some very big names coming. I think GOTY will be between BioShock, Mass Effect, and Halo 3. Possibly SMG too. Oh, and :lol: @ R&C being included.-Tretiak

Platformers aren't seen as proper? That's why I included SMG in my post, right? I'm not saying R&C isn't a good game that probably deserved more than its 7.5 score on GS, but it's quite clearly just not going to be able to dance with the real heavy-hitters when it comes time to hand out the awards. It's like nominating Ace Combet 6 for GOTY. It's a good game, but not on the GOTY level for this year.

True and Daxter for the PSP was a contendor for GOTY a while ago.

So far? I would have to go with Bioshock. I almost went for the orange box seeing how great a value it is....but it happens to include previously released games. Oh, and Halo is not game of the year.....game of the year should be something innovative.

As for the rest of the year....sooo many games left still. Personally, I'm looking forward to rock band and Uncharted......maybe Assassin's Creed.

I think Bioshock should be game of the year. One of the most immersive, mature video game experiences I've ever had.

My vote goes to MP3. Pokemon is in the running as well, as is Phantom Hourglass, but I think MP3 takes the cake from those two.

I am a shooter fan. FPS is my thing. FPS Doug? Heck no. I'm way crazier than FPS Doug about FPSs. So, it might sound weird when I say it, but.... there hasn't been an FPS yet this year that has been worth my time (I have not yet picked up the Orange Box, though, so that very well might change). Halo 3 and BioShock, while good shooters, are not head and shoulders above anything that has come before them. They don't do anything special. There isn't anything that sets them apart from the rest of the crowd except hype. They would never get my vote for GOTY.

LOL at you. You've never played R & C. I've played Halo 3 and R & C. Depends on what kinds of games you like but graphically, gameplay, story, music would all pretty much put R & C only slightly if any below Halo 3.
